J.D. Hayworth Opposed Proposition 200

A few posts down, a fellow contibutor who goes by Fredo, made some historical references to the voter initiative Prop 200 back in 2004.  I just felt it was incomplete.

So here’s, as they say, the rest of the story…..

In Fredo’s post below (“Anti Prop 200 alumni, where are they now?”), he notes that while “everyone is acting tough on illegal immigration now,” back in 2004 several Arizona politicians opposed Proposition 200, which restricted public benefits to illegals and required photo ID to vote

Fredo asks, “Will the voters care about politicians who supported benefits for illegals? They should at least know the facts.”

Here’s one ‘fact’ Fredo forgot to mention – one of those politicians opposing Proposition 200 in 2004 was J.D. Hayworth!

J.D. now claims he’s a long-time advocate of cracking down on illegal aliens, but just six years ago (two years before the end of his public career), he opposed the anti-illegal immigrant Proposition 200.  He says 9-11 removed the “scales from his eyes“.  Wasn’t 9-11 in 2001?  Wasn’t Prop 200 in 2004?

That’s a fact.  And facts are stubborn things.

How’s does Hayworth explain his past opposition to Prop. 200? I’ve never heard him talk about it…truthfully.

You can Tell McCain is worried, the Molly Pitcher post are coming fast and furious. The real polls show JD closing in and pulling ahead fast.

GREAT JOB JD WE ALL LOVE YOU. CAST MY BALLOT AS SOON AS IT CAEM IN THE MAIL AND FOR YOU.

A VOTE FOR DEAKIN IS A VOTE FOR MCCAIN.

Well, like McCain, I guess, at the time, he still had a scale or two stuck in his eyeball.

Perhaps John McCain should cast the illegal alien mote of amnesty — through comprehensive immigration reform — out of his own eye before admonishing Hayworth to cast the last remaining scales of misperception from his own.

Had I been around back then, to advise JD Hayworth, I would have recommended a pair of these so that he could see better: http://tinyurl.com/26ujjhd

I still recommend those lizard-eye, anti-scaling, reality perception glasses to John McCain because unlike JD Hayworth, he hasn’t gotten the message that Americans don’t want amnesty through comprehensive immigration reform. Period!

This is why you should vote for JD Hayworth and not for John McCain: JD Hayworth gets it. McCain doesn’t!

Let he who is without illegal immigration political sin cast the first stone.

I suggest reading Hayworth’s new ten-point “Contract with Arizona” to see the direction he wants to take Arizona and America. It is an absolution for his past indiscretions on the issue of illegal immigration: http://tinyurl.com/2cz9ubo

John McCain has yet to reconcile the fact that he still wants amnesty — through comprehensive immigration reform — despite his eleventh-hour border posturing, with a ten-point security pipe dream.

And without the kind of humility and sincere repentance that JD Hayworth has shown, there can be no absolution for John McCain from his illegal immigration political sins–past, present and future!

    Amen…

JD did oppose Prop 200, as did John McCain. The entire AZ Republican delegation opposed Prop 200, so did the AZ GOP leadership. But JD at least, shall we say, saw the error of his way and
did change his mind on the illegal immigration situation. McCain on the other hand will vote for comprehensive reform (amnesty) or what’s that new term, normalization, as soon as he is re-elected. I think that JD is definitely the man to vote for on this issue.

It cracks me up when the McCain people act like the election is over. If they were so sure, they wouldn’t be so shrill and keep spending so much money. They would calmly campaign and ride out the election. Instead they keep running ridiculous ads pretending to be conservative.

Sure I disagreed with a few votes MY congressman JD Hayworth made in his 12 years but I have disagreed with MOST of the votes McCain cast whether we are talking about Confirming Ruth Bader Ginsberg, NAFTA, GATT, Amnesty, KYOTO Climate Change Hoax,Cap and Trade, Gun Show ” Loophole ” restrictions, Most of the time the conservatives are fighting John’s stated positions as he lines up with the most liberal in the congress to stand across from and face the many of us who wish to have our Representatives take an America First approach to our sovereignty, and our opportunities for prosperity and not scrifice them at the altar of Globalism. We can do better and JD Hayworth “Get’s it” He is for everyday Americans and has been one of them as I say after close evaluation that his three years back home have proved invaluable and has rubbed ALL The rough edges off of a man who was a pretty strong and passionate conservative to start with. This is a No-Brainer, I am tired of wasting all my energy fighting AGAINST John McCain and the Socialist Democrats on EVERY issue. It’s like whatever Soros wants, McCain is on the train. My vote goes to JD Hayworth and anyone who does different will live to regret their poor judgement or ignorance of McCain’s record.

The part of this that makes me laugh is that JD is relatively new these ‘strong’ anti immigration issues. Hayworth voted against House Resolution 610, which would have brought H.R. 4437, the Border Protection, Anti terrorism, and Illegal Immigration Control Act of 2005 to the floor of the House. HR 4437 would have made illegal immigration into this country a felony offense, thereby increasing the penalties for jumping the border. H.R. 4437 would also have made the current employment verification system mandatory program. Hayworth voted with Grijalva, Pelosi, Pastor, Barney Frank, and Hoyer and against 219 Republican Congressmen including Franks, Flake and Shadegg. (Roll Call 636, Dec. 15, 2005). This is hardly the vote of someone who believes in a secure border.

  9. Virgilio says:

Baloney: “A vote for Deakin is a vote for McCain,” a vote for Deakin is a vote for the only consistently true constitutional conservative in the race. McCain has flipped-flopped on all kinds of issues, kissed up to his friends Kennedy, Lieberman, and Kerry in the Senate, and ignored the wishes of his constitutents. JD talks a good line, but it is mostly talk; when in the House he spent like a democrat, was an earmark champion. Neither of these guys deserve our trust or our vote. Deaken is the only candidate who will stand for the Constitution.

  10. levotb says:

Any AZ Conservative voting for either Deakin or McCain is a fool. Deakin is being boosted by McCainite Judson Phillips and Tea Party Nation. And TPN is being funded by McCain’s PAC, Armey’s PAC and other RINO PACs. Deakin is a Trojan horse meant to syphon votes away from JD.

There are also many McCainites in the media, including on the supposedly “Conservative talk radio stations” like KFYI. Nothing wrong with Moderate or RINO Republican voters. But Conservatives who fall for McCain’s mumbo jumbo are kidding themselves–he’s as pro-Amnesty and as much of a globalist as he was in 2008. The difference now? He’s finally got a tough opponent who’s a gentleman, a great speaker and who is “driven”. God bless JD!

    CharlotteW,

I just voted for Jim Deakin. That is a vote for Deakin not McCain and not the huckster. Keep ranting, there’s nothing you can do to it.
