I’ve heard David say he was “conned into” being the county treasurer or “had the great privilege of serving” as the county treasurer, depending on which group he was talking to.
Not really a big deal, but it shows that he’s just a regular old run-of-the-mill politician – not the Conservative Barack Obama (Messiah) that his rabid online anonymous supporters claim he is.
VOTE LEE GENTRY 2010!!!
LEE IS THE MAN WITH THE PLAN!!!
GENTRY! GENTRY!
(OK NOT REALLY BUT CAN YOU IMAGINE IF SOMEONE BESIDES BLOOD RELATIVES ACTUALLY VOTED FOR HIM?)
Otasan, get your facts straight. Schweikert has not been running for Congress since 1994. He did run in the Republican Primary in 94, but lost to Hayworth in what was then Congressional District 6. In 2008 it wouldn’t have mattered who the Republican candidate was, “Obama” fever and the millions of dollars the DNCCC dumped on Mitchell, guaranteed a Dem win.
Don’t you think David fits perfectly into the description of a “citizen legislator”?
He served in the Arizona State Legislature and returned to private life. He served as County Treasurer and then returned to private life. Granted, both times may not have been exactly the way he planned, but Schweikert continued onward.
I think David Schweikert will represent the constituents of CD5 to the satisfaction of conservative and traditional republicans, as well as, “tea partiers” of any political persuasion.
Schweikert has always been accessible to the people he has served. How many candidates willingly give their home phone number to everyone?
Let’s face it, Mitchell hasn’t listened to anyone but Nancy Pelosi over the past 2 years and should be on her payroll not ours!
David will be a true representative of how you and I feel about the problems facing all of us in Arizona today. Go David!
Small point Annie- I said “chasing a seat in Congress”, not “running for”, so my facts are straight.
And I don’t buy the “Anyone would have lost to Mitchell in 2008″ argument.
David didn’t just lose. He was beat handily. By 9 points. In a district with a significant GOP registration advantage.
I think David just needs to realize that the voters don’t want him in congress. He can go run for something else, or return to his business. Either way, it doesn’t matter to me.
But if he squeaks by in the primary, he’ll lose the general.
Otasan,
Correction, he was beat by 9 percent, not 9 points. Are you really Mr. Ward? Because that is EXACTLY what he has said and the incorrect information he gave. To make things clear, he lost by less than 27,000 votes. Allow me to break it down more for you. Mitchell got 149033 of the 280365 votes, Schweikert got 122165 of the 280365 votes, and Severin got 9158 of the 280365 votes. Sooo Mitchell have 53.1%, Schweikert had 43.6%, and Severin had 3.3% of the votes. Please feel free to verify..
http://www.azsos.gov/election/2008/General/Canvass2008GE.pdf
Sorry mistype.. Mitchell HAD
Uh, I’m no math genius, but I’m pretty sure that “points” and “percent” are the same thing. “Point” being an abbreviation for “Percentage Point.”
I’ll use an example for you, from a “reputable” polling firm, as Rachel Alexander would say:
“Senator John McCain has opened a 20-point lead over former Congressman J.D. Hayworth in Arizona’s Republican Senate Primary race.
The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely GOP Primary Voters in the state shows McCain attracting 54% of the vote, while Hayworth earns 34%.”
Not really sure why David losing by 9 PERCENT (age points) makes David look good.
And I think Jim Ward’s larger point is that David lost by 9 PERCENT(age points) on top of the fact that the district has a Republican registered voter advantage of R+5.
So he really lost by like 14 points.
But, hey, he has the Constitution on an iPhone app, so we should probably give him another shot.
David Schweikert is a friend of mine. I’ve researched the claims his campaign has made against Dr. Salvino. I’ve called Chicago to get firsthand information, spoke directly with folks associated with Dr. Salvino back there and I must say the Schweikert team is WRONG about the details they claim as facts.
This is very troubling, I don’t believe DAvid would purposesfully misrepresent the facts, but someone on Schweikert’s staff has made a terrible mistake while doing research.
Salvino’s business went under AFTER he had sold it, not while he owned and managed it.
The business was jolted when the insurance industry stopped funding this type of surgery as medically not warrented and hense ceased funding it. None of this was the result of anything Salvino did wrong.
Get the facts straight David and company, momma also told you always tell the truth.
No guts– Please review the following site. I believe you may have been the one who has not done his/her research.
http://www.ilnb.uscourts.gov/opinions/JudgeWedoff/Salvino.pdf
BWGF – Read the statemnt carefully. Here is what the court said:
“For two reasons, however, Salvino’s breach of the employment contract—even in the
context of the misrepresentation—did not constitute a willful and malicious injury under §523(a)(6).
In otherwords, no harm no foul.
Not Guts,
I went and read the whole document. Per the law !! no foul, but this man is asking for our trust. He signed a contract with the buyers saying he would stay 5 years and then twice deliberatlely sought employment elsewhere. The last time with in 7 days of signing. So how can we trust what he says.
Filed bankruptcy rather than pay the damages. Yeah, he will fit right in in Washington….
Hello Gloria!
Seeking employment and accepting employment ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS! Come on, did you ever have a second job? I did and so do countless Americans. THAT is what freedom is about. Where is the problem? I can’t find one.
Salvino also took a second mortgage on his house to infuse capital into this business. The business was purchased by a successor who shortly filed bankrupcy leaving Salvino without a job.
You are mighty tough on an honorable Doctor. Why are you vilifying this dedicated man who has volunteered countless hours of his time to “Doctor’s without Borders” in nasty 3rd would countries? This man, who reached the rank of Lt. Col. in the USAF, is to be commended for his self-sacrificing and kindness.
Perhaps you have be given the wrong talking points by your candidates campaign staff.
Ever met Dr. Salvino? Try asking his side of the story. It would be the proper thing to do afterall.
No guts,
I do my own research and read for myself. No one gave me talking points, or is it that you think women can’t think for themselves. BTW, I have had many 2nd jobs, but was required by law to notify the first employer, and I did so. So please do not imply that I am lazy as well as your implication I can’t think for myself.
Your argument on the second job….little tough to do a job in Phx from Chicago. Long comute there wouldn’t you say.
I have met Dr. Salvino. I read the court documents. Here is the point: from the court documents
“Salvino agreed to work for Acquisition
for five years, and he breached the contract by resigning without cause in less than a year. For such a breach, Salvino’s employment contract specifies liquidated damages of $1.5 million. Salvino concedes all of this.”
So the buyers were out 10 mil. and could only recover 1.5 mil, except Salvino filed bankruptcy to get out of that. Again, how does that indicate they left him without a job?
He gave his word and then backed out. We only get his word on his campaign promises, will he stick to those, not from this past example.
Why would one bring gender into this discussion. The old bait and switch trick.
Were you aware that Dr. Salvino did numerous of his surgeries in Phoenix? No, I didn’t think so.
The company that purchased the business had no experience in the medical profession, that is why THEY ran it into the ground. And you ecpect Salvino to stand good for their mismagement?
Facts are stuborn things.
Talk about bait and switch…What has any of that to do with Salvino honoring a contract? You know keeping his word.
From what the court documents state the company was a mess administratively before it was purchased. Stood no chance without the Dr. staying on board to do the medical side.
I have worked with many doctors, they are great people, compassionate, skilled at their craft, but can not read a balance sheet or manage money. We need a congressperson who has those abilities and understands finance in Washington. See you all Aug. 24th
From Paul F. Davis, LTCOL USAF Retired
Afghanistan Veteran
What kind of a man is Doc Salvino? I have known Dr Christopher Salvino since 1995. I have deployed for training with him 3 times. He is a down to earth gentleman who can relate to people in all walks of life. As a flight surgeon in charge of aerospace medicine he was involved in all aspects of occupational medicine. In my 30 years of active duty, he was among the 3 best such physicians I worked with. Never too busy to involve himself with the enlisted men and women on the flightline and backshops; he actively sought out areas of workplace safety and health where he could make a difference. He was the only flight surgeon in my recollection who could not keep himself from accompanying me and my technicians on X-ray surveys, or paint booth air sampling.
He actively sought out the “interesting missions” whether deploying to Antarctica for a month in support of the scientific mission or spending his own money to volunteer for surgical missions in war-torn Africa and the Caribbean.
Where there was a need; Doc Salvino was there. He started up and successfully ran aeromedical ambulance services. There are a lot of rural communities in Indiana and Illinois that rely on these services. As a full time officer in the Air National Guard I served as credentials officer as an additional duty over two rigorous USAF inspection cycles. I had full access to all federal and state licensing files. Nothing but the highest ratings. As a result I can attest to his high ethics and integrity. In so far as the above cited lawsuit is concerned, the judge found in Doc Salvino’s favor. There was conflict between the new owners and Doc Salvino and it did not work out. Who among us has not had an adverse workplace relationship?
Finally I must make this one personal disclaimer- were it not for Doc Salvino’s aid in 1998 I would have been medically retired for a back injury. I would not have gotten to serve in Qatar, Kuwait, Macedonia, Hurricane Katrina and Afghanistan. I would not have gotten to serve with my son and daughter before retirement. For you see in 1998, the military medical system was in a state of profound dislocation just like what Obama wants to do to us today. The military had transferred to a system of private care for us remotely assigned personnel. It was not working very well. Doc Salvino skilfully and forcefully worked his way through what was left of the US Air Force neuro-surgical community and got me a much needed back fusion. He did no less for anyone else in my unit. We in America need capable, caring people with a diverse background in Congress. People who care about the common man and woman; people who have military experience; and finally people who are not afraid to take a stand.
I am shocked to see salvino has never voted republican or in a primary. that is just classic for him. i included another (link to) website/blog because i am so overwhelmed with how sleezy salvino is. he walks around in his scrubs talking about he wants to help everyone just as a smoke screen because we all want to trust healthcare workers. it is really sad that he resorts to these tactics. if he wants to be an “everyday guy” get out of the scrubs all the time.
i LOVE the clarity that people see on this blog concerning salvino’s past behavior. just because he operates a hairpin above the law (intentionally) does not make it right by one bit. But that is all that matters to some folks. it is very hard to see the truth behind the scrubs. marketing is an art and he is using it to his advantage with people who are unable to see beyond the scrubs.
I am still wondering why no one from any of salvino’s competition ( competition–i say this because i can think of no other word to use at the moment) has not looked to John C Lincoln Hospital about why he left his trauma director position. Healthcare facilities historically do not want to rock the boat about having half-wits on staff but someone has to be able to figure this one out. See comment 35 on the cactus alliance blog spot for more info. There has got to be some sort of consequences for fabricating your resume to get a job.
i am still unsure how he got this far. i guess other people’s money will buy you anything.
dear can’t believe it. Who said Salvino has never voted Republican or in a primary? Dr. Salvino is a life long Republican having spent most of his life in Chicage where his vot seldom counted. He is registered in Arizona as a Republican and when his registration arrived it indicated he registered as an Independent. There is nothing wrong with registering as an Independent, except he registered as a Republican and an Election’s Office “snafu” occured.
Really you say? Yes, I registered my son on my computer as a Republican about this same time, have the printout to prove it, and when he received his card it showed him as an Independent. Proof of the “snafu”… yes, of course.
By the way… what is your definition of the word “sleezy”?
Schweikert folks are so quick to use such terms and to make meaningless charges against his opponents.
Dr. Salvino is a true citizen candidate. I know, I have been a supportor of Schweikert, still like the man personally, but after my review of both candidates, Salvino chearly has demonstrated his considerable leadership skills and political accumin.
try calling David Schweikert’s office (see if David will get on the phone), ask some general questions about the campaign, bring up Salvino, and see if Shweikert directs you to this blog, admitting that Schweikert’s friend created this blog
then decide where the sleaze is
Only candidate to testify before Congress- Salvino (Feb 18 2010). Only candidate with clearly stated logical plans- Salvino. Military man with humanitarian experience who can win independents in November- again Salvino. A two time loser cannot win in 2010, let’s have no repeat of 2008- vote Salvino
If ever you had any questions about commitment… this will clear them up.

Ron Ludders at Az2010 project knows the score on Dr Salvino’s alleged legal problem. It was actually resulting from a pretty heroic struggle against health insurance companies to save his business, his many patients and employees. Dr Salvino prevailed against a mob of lawyers, but emerged fighting mad about what is happening to medicine today.
he did really. then why did he leave Chicago in the middle of the night and “forget” to tell all of his patients and employees he was leaving????????
Riddle me that clear thinker
Dr Salvino is a well regarded physician, who has been appointed to the Arizona Trauma Surgery Board; has testified before Congress and is a decorated military surgeon. If you Google Dr C K Salvino (professional journals always use initials) you will find 100s of literature citations advancing the field of trauma surgery, laparoscopy, and bariatrics. It is due to doctors like him that bariatric surgery has become so safe today and has saved many lives and truth be told on-going medical expenses resulting from obesity. He has been endorsed by many Tea parties.
His aforementioned lawsuit is more likely a testimony to his honor. It also represents why he so adamantly opposes Obamacare; for you see his fine bariatric practice was ruined because of a cabal of Illinois insurance companies who dropped coverage for bariatrics. Dr Salvino pledged his home to save his business. When he sold the business it was under the condition that he would obtain surgery cases, however the acquisition firm mismanaged the business and all surgeries dropped. he could not keep his surgical skills up operating infrequently. Dr Salvino moved to Arizona and was not competing with his former firm. The acquisition firm sued him, he steadfastly declined to settle, it went to court and Dr Salvino prevailed. Sadly today, what has occurred to Dr Salvino is not uncommon. Insurance companies rule the roost, until of course Obamacare and is death panels arrive.
Re-read the above citation, at very top from “American Post Gazette” and “Common Sense in Arizona” these things don’t even exist. This is a phony made-up citation. So figuring it out, the early posts slam Salvino, Ward, Susan Bitter Smith. Hmmm who are the instigators of the vicious mud-slinging- ah that’s it David Schweikerts sleezy operatives are at it again.
Anyone but Dave is right on- Dave’s fellows have reprised his 2008 campaign scheme. This whole piece is full of vicious smears against Salvino, Smith and Ward. Dave how low can you go? Call Schweikert’s office and tell him to stop the lying smears.
I want to stand up for Dr Christopher Salvino! He was the guy that set my broken leg after a 4 wheeling accident I got into after I came back from my little stay in Iraq. The guy did a helluva job, but I forgot his name, all I could remember was Chris. I was trying to decide who to vote for in Tuesday’s election, so I look on the internet about Congressional District 5.
What comes up but this screed. Wow, there’s my doc’s picture on it. I start reading all of these snide comments. They don’t describe the guy I had. I had no trouble with my bills, but I was still in the Army then. When I got back to Ft Leonard Wood, the docs there said he did a great job. I am doing great. I am sure whoever posted this scuttlebutt didn’t mean to but in a way I thank him. And I sent Dr Salvino a belated thank -you card too. We need more veterans like Dr Salvino in Congress. I’m voting Salvino on Tuesday.
notice clone of this blog here http://cactusalliance.blogspot.com/2010/01/who-is-chris-salvino-for-congress-in-cd.html is no longer allowing comments
wonder if David will also ask his “friend” to disallow comments here
the public has seen both blogs for what they are worth, unsuccessful and pathetic attempts by Schweikert’s campaign to smear a fine citizen and physician named Chris Salvino who will beat David on Tuesday
Four biggest problems facing America today are: securing the border, medical care and national security and energy. Dr Salvino has served his country in the military – critical for understanding national security and border security. Dr Salvino obviously understands quite well the practice of medical care and how it is jeopardized. Dr Salvino is also an engineer which means he has more than a passing knowledge of energy matters. Dr Salvino is not a career politician. Help to send the Doctor to Congress on August 24.
“Schweikerts friend created this blog” is right. This blog started out with a slime piece on Cactus Alliance in Jan 2010 then it like a malignant liver fluke lay dormant in that site for months. It later like a virulent plague or cancer metastasized on Sonoran alliance and other places starting in early August. Also just as “Anyone but Dave says” the American Post Gazette and Common Sense says those places don’t exist on the web. Sort of like the Big Lie by all master propagandists. Anything to secretly smear Salvino, Smith or ward.
oh yes, the whole internet is against poor sad sack salvino…..all these blogs are just lies, lies, lies against poor, poor salvino.
For God’s sake all he wants to do is help people….let him be so he can go through the world and help all of the helpless people….my god, the conspiracy of these “others.”
salvino is such a helper and these other people are just setting him up for failure. NONE of these comments are even remotely true.
GO FORTH SALVINO AND HELP THE HELPLESS PEOPLE HELP THEMSELVES BEFORE THE TERRIBLE GOVERNMENT TAKES ADVANTAGE OF US ALL.
“Dr Salvino moved to Arizona and was not competing with his former firm.”
this is a quote from another post.
Do you all realize the “evil” surgery center that bought the WISH center from salvino also had a WISH Center in Tempe Arizona? no—you did not know that fact. The no-compete agreement that salvino is mentioning though this quote was for 500 miles.
I believe if the odometer on my car is correct Tempe is less than 500 miles from anywhere in Arizona.
Please note the WISH Center also had a Level 1 Trauma medical service as well. so about that no-compete agreement that salvino was “HONORING” for all you folks in Arizona——try again.

oops double post….
Can’t David win without slandering families and hitting chris, susan, mark and jim…in fact, what issues does david really stand for? Cant he win on issues or only negative campaigning. David and his minions do this every election and it never works. What does David stand for except slander? And you know these tactics never work for him in November
Looks like Dave’s smear machine went into overdrive last night and fired up the old slime machine (with a sticky trigger on the old slime gun). You know that same slime machine that worked so well back in 2008. Exactly what does Schweikert stand for?
So many untruths, so little time. Read the cited case. What part of the words: “Verdict in Favor of Salvino” don’t Schweikert’s boys get? Why do we have this every primary season. And then since 2006 the same sad results in November. Call Dave’s office and tell him to stop those smears against Salvino, Ward, and Bitter- Smith.
you two are easy to fool
This campaign is deja vu all over again. More slimy smears. So much like 2008. Schweikerts boys doing the dirty. More sad and pathetic attempts at innuendo from fictitious websites like “Common Sense In Arizona” aka “American Post Gazette”.
Not happy with Mitchell another one of the Pelosi-Reed “get along gang”. David can’t win – a two time loser. Last effort most poorly in a republican district. His speaking abilities are not exactly resonating nor are they in any way inspiring. Not quite sure what policies he has other than to stick his finger in the wind and go with the flow. So over time there have been many posts in the Sonoran Alliance that have cast innuendos on Jim Ward, who really has some decent Arizona roots. Those shaky innuendos I will not dignify with repetition. They would pop up now and then in some incoherent postings. There were snide comments made about Spinks before he dropped out. Susan, well she didn’t escape the tar brush either. Salvino, well he got himself dragged through the dirt with this one, even though the court found in his favor.I had choice between Ward and Salvino. Heard Salvino on Laura Ingraham show and he articulated well, I’m voting his way.
Doc Salvino is one great guy with a lot of brilliant ideas. It is good to have a fresh face in local politics. Maybe we can take back CD#5. His border plan makes good sense, forward deploy with blockhouses every so often. Just like the Romans did. He also recommended a sort of mobile reserve- again just like the Romans did and the Romans were doing business for like 500 years. As former Iraq and Afghan vet I would also recommend the increased use of aerostat balloons, they worked great at Balad and at Bagram. He is a doctor so he can figure out how to unscramble this Obamacare mess. I like the fact we have a veteran in the race. You go Doc, don’t let those slimy accusers get you down.
To “Can’t believe it”, anonymous, et al: The truth is out there. What part of Verdict in Favor of Salvino do you not understand? This guy Salvino has some fresh ideas. Why not take look and listen for yourselves: http://www.channels.com/episodes/show/8432250/Arizona-Congressman-Chris-Salvino-for-Congress
Folks are tired of the same old politics game.
http://www.channels.com/feeds/show/214597/Chris-Salvino
Heard this guy on Laura Ingraham show. He makes some pretty good sense. Great ideas on the border, economy and medicine. Definitely time to get rid of Mitchell, maybe this guy is the one to do it.
The more I find out, the more I like about Dr. Chris Salvino. Somebody shared this with me on Facebook today and I had to pass it along. It’s pretty old video, but it’s a remarkable story. He worked with Doctors Without Borders in conditions most of us would never think of living in. These negative things printed in this blog represent the worst of today’s society.
