Statement from Jim Regarding Personal Disclosure
Phoenix, AZ (8/01) – To keep all of my supporters directly in touch with my campaign I am being interviewed on FOX News and here is my statement in its entirety:
The ever increasing popularity of my Citizen Candidate campaign and the slump of my opponents has forced them to focus their failed mudslinging from each other and onto me.
Last week the Hayworth operatives were saying I was being funded by McCain, this week they are telling you that I am broke and losing my home. Obviously the previous attacks were complete fabrications as I have repeatedly stated.
The truth is, like many of the citizens of Arizona, I have been struggling, which is why I am a TEA Party activist. I am upside down in my mortgage. But I am not losing my home. In fact, the proceeding has been canceled [a statement issued 50 minutes removed this sentence].
I am a small businessman who resigned my position this year to campaign full time. I have been campaigning against the failed policies of my opponents for 20 months. I do not receive a paycheck from the government, PAC money from fake tea party groups or a royalty check from selling infomercials. So therefore it has been a struggle for me personally, and on the campaign trail, but I am doing it for the right reasons.
Small businesses have been struggling because of the burdensome taxation and regulation implemented by both of my opponents. HUD amendments enacted by my opponents and the repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act allows greedy bankers to create the derivatives market resulting in the crisis we have all experienced since 2008.
My personal situation, as a struggling homeowner, a small businessman and as a citizen candidate gives me a unique perspective and desire to protect the life blood of our economy – the small business – from ever again experiencing the failures of our representatives.
We, as proud citizens of Arizona, must come to realize that we do have a choice on election day; vote for either of the politicians who put us in this position or vote for Jim Deakin, your citizen candidate who shares your experiences and will represent your interests in Washington D.C.

Here’s Jim
As a family man I’m concerned about our children’s future and know that the future of all Arizonan’s should reside within our State, not with the Federal Government. As a Navy veteran I stand with conviction and integrity to support and defend our Constitution. As an entrepreneur I know the importance of a free market system where the people are responsible for the economy, not the Government.
My respect and admiration of the Founding Fathers and our Constitution leads me to restore our Country to the principles of liberty. By staying committed to the underlying beliefs of the Founders and the Constitution, by limiting the scope of governmental authority and applying honesty and integrity in my decisions I will prove to be the right choice for US Senator.
If you’ve had enough of the politics you do have a choice.

Right Deakin…it’s the government’s fault you mortgaged your home to the hilt. Your judgment is absolutely sound…no doubt about it. Dancing all over the state while your own home sinks into foreclosure. Great move…you told my group you are a successful small businessman. Successful small businessmen don’t blame the government for their ills or voluntarily take time off from earning a living to tilt at windmills.
Deakin is shameless in his lies and deceptions. Lying about his finances in the debates was not enough, now he’s going on Fox to lie some more. Oh, and we like to be called Hayworth supporters, not operatives.
………….
“HUD amendments enacted by my opponents and the repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act allows greedy bankers to create the derivatives market resulting in the crisis we have all experienced since 2008″
……………….
What?
What? He sounds like Nancy Pelosi. Without the tax-payer-funded private jet of course.
One thing Deakin said made sense. That is if McCain is really backing him then why would he be in such financial straights.
One way or another Hayworth supporters lied.
Either Deakin is being supported by McCain or he is not and he is financing his own campaign.
Someone told a lie. I hate to say that its the founding father signed emails from that anonymous group.
Now Jimmie Lee shows true kahonies by repeating and making up lies faster than Jon Lovitz!! This e-mail was followed up with one 50 minutes later where he leaves out the sentence: “In fact, the proceeding has been canceled.” BALONEY!
Mr. Deakin has refinanced this home faster and more often than people change their minds!
Like a good Democrat he places blame in PRECISELY the wrong PLACE!! Acorn’s getting the Clinton Administration to ‘enhance’ the Community Reinvestment Act of 1977 in 1995 requiring banks to make loans to people with no more people. This legal action artificially created a bigger market for loans, WHICH in turned drove up prices much faster than the market warranted.
In fact here in Phoenix they went up 48% in 2005-2006! Did our wages go up, or our real incomes? No, just the Acorn inspired gov’t regulation of the mortgage industry, NOT repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act resulted in the prices of homes going up! BUT THAT DIDN’T MAKE JIM KEEP REFINANCING DID IT?
And he wants to manage the US Gov’t $3.5 Trillion budget!!??

“One way or another Hayworth supporters lied.

……………
WHat kind of analysis is that?
One gets in financial straits by overspending what one has. It doesn’t prove or disprove anything. One can overspend one’s own money, one can overspend one own money and any other money supplied to the campaign, no matter from where the source. We aren’t privy to the details, are we? So guessing is pointless and accusing others of “lying” is irresponsible.
Further, “support” doesn’t automatically mean “money.” It can mean access, referrals, approval, encouragement, advice, all sorts of non-monetary ways for two to tag team against a third party. Even two who might normally not speak to each other. “Common cause” does that. Whether or not that has been happening is also unknown. What is observed is that Deakin’s rhetoric is nearly exclusively used to target Hayworth, just one candidate of the two opponents. It DOES LOOK peculiar, and it absolutely, coordinated or not, plays into McCain’s hands.
It’s a guaranteed losing way to run a campaign. With this strategy, Deakin can only hope to beat Hayworth, but that leaves McCain waltzing back to DC for six more years. This is nonsense or spite, it isn’t running to beat BOTH.
……………..
“I am a small businessman who resigned my position”
………..
How does one resign from themselves? Was he the owner or an employee?
Steve Robinson AKA RAP,
“In fact, the proceeding has been canceled. BALONEY!”
Unless you are trustee on the deed of trust, the lender or Jim’s accountant you have no personal knowedge of the situation. Once again you are out there ranting as fact things you have no knowledge on. Once again it is mud slinging and praying some of it, any of it sticks. If this is the best you have to offer people as a reason to support your candidate I would hate to have you as one of my supporters. With friends like you JD hardly needs enemies. You make him look bad enough on your own.
“Unless you are trustee on the deed of trust, the lender or Jim’s accountant you have no personal knowedge of the situation.”
Great, if Deakin brought his account current on Friday, the day after the Notice of Trustee Sale, lets see a copy of the Cashier’s Check. If he won’t do that I say he lying.
The following words are indeed by me, Steven Robinson’ and I’ve called myself “Radical American Patriot” for years. Long before politics ever entered Jim Deakin’s mind.
Stephen Kohut,
You don’t like the word ‘baloney’? Those are JIM’s own words! Since the paperwork was only prepared/filed on Thursday. Jim’s comment was definitely incorrect! AGAIN YOU MAKE FALSE ACCUSATIONS, thinking everyone else must be too stupid to see through what you are shoveling!
Other than the word “Baloney!” where am I slinging mud! NOW pay CLOSE attention, Mr. Kohut: First, JIM re-issues a new e-mail WITHOUT that line! HE corrects his OWN previous statement.
He then places the blame for HIS problems on the governement, investment bankers, and “my opponents”. Yet JD helped craft the tax cuts FOR SMALL businesses, that Jim’s friend McCain opposed! So, is this the mudslinging you complain about? You try to bring this back on JD?
You Stephen are what Bill O’Reilly calls “A Kool-Aid Drinker” extraordinaire!!
Perhaps you should have used a pseudonym, instead of me!
It’s time for the Deakin candidacy to come to an end as his house of cards is imploding (no pun intended). Jim has no record to speak of but it is clear from his personal finaces that he doesn’t have the business savy to manage even a household budget. He has lied and over stated his business experience during the campaign. It appears that Deakin may have knowingly overstated his income in order to acquire mortgages that he could not afford. This is Obama’s world on a smaller scale. My advise to Mr. Deakin would be to put his own house in order and step aside as you are out of your league in this senate race. PS: You might want to consider leaving the hate spewing spouse at home as she is negative distraction to you.
Steven Robinson,
Please keep blogging with all those wonderful LOUD words and spewing hate. I’m sure that it is convincing undecided voters everywhere to support the people you back. Nothing can sink a product faster than a flawed marketing campaign. As I said before, with you as one of his messengers JD hardly needs enemies. Please truck on. All those who back JD’s challengers find you a hoot!
Hang in there Jim. You will never make the JD supporters happy. They hate anyone who would dare question JD. I’m not going to vote for you but you deserve to be treated with some basic human dignity and have every right to run for office. I think you upset the Hayworth supporters so much because they are worried you will get more votes than their candidate.
What was Deakin’s “Small business” that he “resigned” from?
Has Steven Robinson or anyone else crowing delightedly over this actually looked through the records of foreclosure at the County Recorder? Rhetorical question, never mind.
If Deakin really wants to win this, why does he harp constantly on Hayworth, which essentially means he ignores McCain?
Seriously, the candidate to focus on to beat has been McCain all along. He’s the one who sticks us all with monstrosities like McCain-Feingold which gives political INCUMBENTS huge election financial advantages over … the little guys.
If Deakin is having campaign financing problems, he has to look no farther for someone to blame than Mr. Campaign Mega-millions Warchest he was standing next to in the debate.
……………………
“I have been struggling, which is why I am a TEA Party activist. I am upside down in my mortgage. But I am not losing my home. In fact, the proceeding has been canceled”
……………..
SO, he’s narrowly averted foreclosure, due to negotiations with his mortgage company/bank, for the time being.
So, it was not at all incorrect or off the mark for ANYONE to have said Deakin is struggling financially, and is grappling with serious personal financial issues. He’s just confirmed that’s a FACT.
His name’s on the ballot regardless, now.
I am not a Deakin supporter, but I wish his family well. There’s enough stress in this election season without the threat of losing one’s home. However, I reviewed the record at Tiffany & Bosco, canceled or not, Deakin is singly responsible for his personal circumstance which would have been a reasonable tone for this press release. Making his opponents a feature at a time like this lacks poise. However jealous he may be for our country, this and other awkwardly worded explanations calls his general judgement into question.
This whole story reminds me of those poor bastards who blow a big chunk of their paycheck on lottery tickets believing they will win a fortune.
“Has Steven Robinson or anyone else crowing delightedly over this actually looked through the records of foreclosure at the County Recorder?”
“SO, he’s narrowly averted foreclosure, due to negotiations with his mortgage company/bank, for the time being.”
This is the Notice of Trustee Sale from the County Recorder.
http://156.42.40.50/UnOfficialDocs/pdf/20100647095.pdf
Please note that the filing date for the Notice of Trustee Sale is 7/29/10, last Thursday. For this to be “canceled”, the Deakin’s would have had to have contacted their lender on Friday, received a correct payoff for the outstanding back payment, penalties, and attorney’s fees on Friday, overnighted a cashier’s check out of state and have the bank receive it on that same Friday 7/30, in time for the funds to be processed on Friday and the Trustee to be instructed on Friday to “cancel” the Trustee’s Sale that was not scheduled until 10/28/2010. Please keep in mind that the bank, the Trustee, and the County Recorder would be closed over the weekend. So it is impossible for the Deakin’s to have brought their mortgage current in so short a span of time. Now they could bring it current this coming week, and the auction could be canceled this week, but for the Deakin’s to say that it is “canceled” now is factually impossible. This is just another in a long list of deceptions played upon Deakin’s well meaning followers and the state of Arizona.
@ Jim Deakin,
I wanted to wish your family all the best in this situation…. I’m actually voting for JD this time around but just wanted to let you know that you & your family will be in my prayers because I’m sure that losing a home (or even that possibility) is extremely stressful for the entire family.

The fact that this is what the deakin campaign is talking about 3 weeks before the primary, doesn’t this prove to people its time for him to get out??
I mean 3 weeks before the election when a candidate has to discuss his financial situation when as it is he has limited resources and is not talking about campaign issues he is done…
It is strange that you are all so giddy about one foreclosure sale. Carl Seel told the world in his bankruptcy filing that his home is being foreclosed. His seatmate Fitzgerald had not one but two foreclosures on his homes in recent months.
It seems to be a growing trend for those who can’t cut it in business to go to the voters and get themselves voted into the legislature. All they need to say is: “I am a CONSERVATIVE”
Now you wonder why our State budget is in such a mess.
I can’t believe this. I’m a Hayworth supporter and have donated money to him. I haven’t donated jack to Deakin. But this nastiness coming from the Hayworth supporters is DISGRACEFUL. You should be ashamed of yourselves. I’m thinking about chaning my vote.

You’re joking, right? Months of your comments led me to believe you routinely vote Democrat.

………….
Yeah, that’s 100% true now since so many Democrats and Liberals are opening “Tea Party” branches to run “Tea Party Candidates” that voters really have to NOT take these people face value. Ronald Reagan’s advice is always appropriate: “Trust, but verify.”
Notice though that “DEMOCRATS” are hiding they are “DEMOCRATS” because of the NEGATIVES now being evoked when “DEMOCRAT” is uttered, but they have discovered huge and rising POSITIVES amongst the electorate for “TEA PARTY.”
Oberserve, Go and Do IT.
Do like I and voter for McCain, stick with the winner.
And JD supporters wonder why their candidate is consistently upside down in his favorable/unfavorable ratings? Keep up it guys. With friends like you frothing at the keyboards on blogs everywhere JD doesn’t need enemies.
Oberserve…again we agree.
“But this nastiness coming from the Hayworth supporters is DISGRACEFUL. You should be ashamed of yourselves.”
Of course, I am not changing my vote. I’m sticking with McCain.
Is he perfect? Heck no. Do I agree with all he has done and said? Nope.
Is he the best man for the job for the times we are in? ABSOLUTELY!
Thanks Bryce for the 10 TV spot.
The local fox 10 news affiliate broke the Deakin foreclosure story yesterday. On air Fox 10 stated that they asked the Hayworth camp for comment and that seems to be where the press release came in to play. As far as I could tell by the story the Hayworth camp did not comment until being contacted by local media. And as far as Hayworth supporters being nasty in their comments about Deakins foreclosure, I’ve seen more mud slung in a pig wrestling contest (to paraphrase McCain’s witty response during the Tucson debate when Hayworth “quoted McCain” from his own book about being willing to lie if it meant winning). I think that most people probably feel bad for anyone losing their home but that is not really the issue here is it? It’s about a senate race in which we all hope that the BEST person wins and for a number of reasons that person is probably not Mr. Deakin. Nor is it McCain who if you are really honest with yourselves wrote the book on nastiness. Look up azcentral.com dated 1.26.2010 regarding McCain tactics against Hayworth who was not even in the race at the time. That is DISGRACEFUL!
Rasmussen 8/2 Senate General Election Poll
Candidate Very Favorable Very Unfavorable
McCain 20% 25%
JD 15% 40%
Glassman 9% 19%
McCain leads Glassman 53% to 34% in general election. Glassman leads JD 43% to 38% in general election.
His upsidedown favorable/unfavorable ratios in both the primary and general election clearly and consistently show JD is not liked by the voters and is not electable. Wishing it were so does not change the fact the JD has not been able to move those numbers. Unliked is unelectable.
Throwing any and every bucket of mud JD supporters can find does not and will not change the public’s opinion of JD.
Clearly, JD is supported by many many people. Deakin doesn’t even show up on that list. Why distract from the main complaint against Deakin? It’s not his house payments! This ultra-sensitivity is better suited for Obama supporters. Deakin has no experience and a major credibility problem. We’re voting in a serious political race, it’s not a beauty pageant. So, what’s the point of playing the mud-slinging card? Where’s the mud? Especially, since the same people complaining about mud-slinging cross every “t” and dot every “i” when criticizing every other candidate. It doesn’t make any sense to blame JD supporters because Deakin’s own short comings come under fire.
Keep it up Stephen and JPD, I’m beginning to wonder what your motives are! You two are becoming expert mud slingers.
