John McCain: Unstatesman-like, Unbecoming of a US Senator

Isn’t it sad when a 28-year incumbent who was the Republican nominee for President has to resort to dressing up supporters in pig and horse outfits in order to attack his conservative opponent?

This photo was taken outside of the studios of KTVK Channel 3 in Phoenix prior to the arrival of John McCain. These two McCain supporters have followed JD Hayworth campaign around for months harassing JD Hayworth supporters and taunting the former congressman.

The same pig you see in this photo was seen last week outside the entry of a Flagstaff country club harassing residents as they entered for GOP party picnic.

Sadly, this is just another example of the sad devolution and diminution of John McCain to another mudslinging politician.

One would think that Arizona’s senior senator would not put up with this type of campaigning.

Amnesty by any other name is still Amnesty

McCain Calls It “Regularize” In Letter

Phoenix, AZ (JULY 16) – The campaign of U.S. Senate Candidate J.D. Hayworth (R-AZ) today released a letter from Sen. John McCain in which he writes that illegal aliens in this country must take several steps before they can “regularize their status.”

The April 16, 2010 letter reads: “Considering our national interest in identifying these individuals and our inability to round up and deport all of them, we must provide these individuals with incentives to come forward, complete security background checks, pay any owed taxes and stiff penalties for breaking the law, learn to speak English, and regularize their status.”

The letter is apparently a response to a constituent because it ends with: “Again, thank you for sharing your views with me. Please feel free to contact me on this or any other issue of concern. Sincerely, John McCain, United States Senator.”

Earlier this month McCain proclaimed that his comprehensive immigration reform plan would not include amnesty, saying many of the illegal aliens must return home.

“When I said he was pushing amnesty by any other name, I meant it,” Hayworth said. “He’s just replacing amnesty with this new term regularize.”

“First it is amnesty, then it became comprehensive immigration reform, and now it’s regularize illegal aliens,” he said.  ”If re-elected, McCain will take his new term back to Washington and try one more time to ram amnesty for the third time down our throats.”

LD7 Candidate Heather Carter, the AEA’s favorite “Republican”

This past week, LD7 candidate, Heather Carter, was featured in the Arizona Republic’s “My Turn” section.

“What does the future hold for Arizona? I envision a vibrant economic community, where people are employed, businesses are thriving and children are well-educated. I want a safe Arizona with a secure national border.”

(NOTE: The Republic makes it pretty clear to candidates that they will not be editing or proof-reading any candidate statements. All “My Turn” articles are published as-is and it is up to the candidate to make sure they submit only their best work. Fair enough, since the Republic interns are busy writing the news for the next day…)

“I am running for office to do the job that needs to get done – create a plan for Arizona that enables us to balance the budget, set a course for the future and focus on strong schools, strong economy and a safe community. I think part of the problem at the capital is people lose sight of the core mission…”

Now, I’m not sure what subject Mrs. Carter taught our LD7 children in school, but she must have had at least one dictionary in her classroom… Or maybe not, since she doesn’t know the difference between, “capital: as in, financial capital” and “capitol: as in the buildings making up our state capitol which Mrs. Carter wishes to serve in”. Let’s just hope she’s never taught civics/government/economics or any of the reading/English classes available to our kids.

“…get caught up in special-interest agenda items that take time and energy away from what we should be doing…”

Wait a second. I remember reading something about this… Oh yeah: Heather Carter was endorsed by the liberal AEA Union. This liberal union has been responsible for threatening legislators, protesting on the capitol lawn, holding back the budget process, as well as encouraging teachers to push Prop 100 using our kids. We’d like to know if Heather Carter was following her union boss in the picket lines last Spring. Seems like the only way the AEA union would endorse a Republican is if they knew they had her in their special-interest pocket…

Let’s make sure we support real conservatives, this August and November. Not union lackeys.

Birds of a Feather…

The other night at the Capitol Times Candidate Meet and Greet, it was comforting to know that my assertion that birds of a feather flock together is dead on.  Two Somos-endorsed and anti-1070 “Republican” candidates were flocking together.  Sorry the pics are so low quality, but they are of Jose Penalosa and Eve Nunez rubbing elbows.

Of course, Penalosa is the indecisive candidate that first threw his hat into the ring in the Scottsdale city council race, then decided to get into the CD 4 race…as if CD 4 isn’t already represented by an anti-1070 candidate.  He also gave aid and comfort to our enemies by attending a Harry Mitchell meet-and-greet. I bet Pastor likes Harry Mitchell too!  Oh, and Penalosa and Ed Pastor both favor amnesty.  Just watch Penalosa’s videos on YouTube for proof of that assertion.  The clear conservative choice in that race is Janet Contreras.

Nunez is the one who characterized 1070 as “inhumane.”  She ran for the LD 12 House in 2008 as a Democrat because Obama was popular and now that it seems like Republicans might be ascendant, she’s changed her party registration with the political winds.  That’s pretty deceptive, “Reverend” Nunez.  As I said earlier today, Clark Silver is the clear conservative candidate in the LD 12 Senate race.

The voters LD 12 and CD 4 need to be very wary of Nunez and Penalosa.

ICYMI: AZ Central Article Casts LD 12 Senate Race as Key Conservative vs. Moderate Matchup

Recently, an AZCentral.com article by Mary Jo Pitzl cast the Legislative District 12 Senate race as one of the key races in the state.  The article was entitled “Arizona GOP primary races will show how far right state leans.” While the article did not discuss the LD 12 race specifically, it did list the matchup as a “Key GOP race for State Senate.” In LD 12, the voters have the choice between a 21 year incumbent absentee RINO, Nelson; the anti-SB 1070 Democrat-turned-”Republican” Eve Nunez and the conservative challenger Clark Silver. The differences between the candidates couldn’t be more clear. Eve Nunez is supported by the RINO group Somos Republicans, Nelson is supported by the big-government group Greater Phoenix Leadership and he helped raise money for Democrats to get them elected, while Clark Silver is endorsed by the AZ 2010 Project and Pachyderm Coalition and supported by the West Valley TEA Party.

The article also listed other key races where it is incumbent upon Republican voters to defeat RINOs: In LD 5, the conservative Sen. Sylvia Allen vs. RINO Rep. Bill Konopnicki; in LD 6, appointed Sen. David Braswell vs. the conservative Lori Klein; in LD 11, RINO incumbent Adam Driggs vs. conservative Rich Davis; in LD 19, absentee, incumbent RINO Rep. Rich Crandall vs. conservative James Molina; and in LD 30, the conservative Sen. Frank Antenori vs. RINO Rep. Marian McClure.

Conservatives, you have your work cut out for you. Get behind these conservative candidates. Volunteer for them and donate money to them. Sitting at home or attending meetings isn’t enough! Most importantly, VOTE for them in the August 24 primary!

Grassroots Interviews with LD 23 house Candidate John Fillmore

Last night on Grassroots Interviews, I interviewed LD 23 House candidate John Fillmore.  The 10 minute gap in the video from about 19:47 to 29:55 was all my fault.  Apologies to Mr. Fillmore, but he laughed it off.  Needless to say, he’ll be back on the show after the primaries to highlight the differences between himself and his Democrat opponents.  I wish him the best of luck.

Conservative Talk Show Host, Hugh Hewitt,

Goes for Gosar

Flagstaff, AZ. July 14, 2010: The Gosar for Congress campaign is proud to announce that nationally syndicated Conservative talk show host and New York Times best-selling author Hugh Hewitt has formally endorsed Dr. Paul Gosar in his bid for the United States Congress in Arizona’s First Congressional District.

Hugh Hewitt’s nationally syndicated radio show is heard in more than 120 cities across the United States every weekday afternoon which has an audience estimated at more than 2 million listeners every week. Hewitt is a graduate of Harvard College and the University of Michigan Law School, and has been teaching Constitutional Law at Chapman University Law School since it opened in 1995. Professor Hewitt has been a frequent guest on CNN, Fox News Network, and MSNBC, and has written for The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and the Los Angeles Times. He has also received three Emmys for his work as co-host of the ground-breaking Life & Times program.  Hewitt also served for nearly six years in the Reagan Administration in a variety of posts, including Assistant Counsel in the White House and Special Assistant to two Attorneys General.

Hewitt, a national leader in Conservative politics, had this to say about his endorsement, “Washington has lost touch. Lost touch with the American people, our founding principles, and the very idea of what it means to be an American.  We have a national debt that is unsustainable, fueled by the largest expansion of government in our history. From socialized medicine, bailouts, and government takeovers, America cannot and will not last if we do not wake up.  That is why I am asking the people of Arizona’s First Congressional District  to join me in supporting Dr. Paul Gosar.  Dr. Gosar is a small businessman with the right common sense, no-nonsense attitude we need to get our country back on track.  I believe he is Arizona’s best chance of defeating the current incumbent who too often has been in lockstep with Nancy Pelosi and her leftist agenda of runaway spending and spiraling debt. Paul will bring to Washington the fight for common-sense, free enterprise reforms that focus on real job creation through lower taxes and limited government.”

“I have had the great pleasure of talking with Mr. Hewitt about the important issues facing our country,” said Dr. Gosar. “I am deeply moved that he has seen in me and my message a real chance to take America back from the brink and restore common sense to Washington. His endorsement means a great deal to me and my family.”

Dr. Gosar,  a 25 year resident of Flagstaff, father of three, sports and hunting enthusiast has been traveling all over Congressional District One for the past several months and has enjoyed meeting with supporters who share his belief that his background, and his experience in rural Arizona’s way of life, make him the GOP favorite to unseat Kirkpatrick.

Gosar has been endorsed by the American Dental Political Action Committee, Pinal County Supervisor Bryan Martyn, Sheriff Joe Arpaio, Sheriff Paul Babeu, former Sheriff Joe Richards, and NRA past President Bob Corbin to name a few.  He is an Arizona’s former “Dentist of the Year”, who has practiced general dentistry in Flagstaff for more than 25 years.

Judicial Watch to RepresentState Senator Pearce in “Legal Battle of Epic Proportions” against Obama Justice Department

State Senator Russell Pearce, Author of Arizona’s

SB 1070, Seeks to Intervene in Federal Lawsuit to Defend Arizona Immigration Law

Judicial Watch to RepresentState Senator Pearce in “Legal Battle of Epic Proportions” against Obama Justice Department

(Washington, DC) — Judicial Watch, the government watchdog group, announced today that it has filed a “Motion to Intervene” on behalf of Arizona State Senator Russell Pearce, author of Arizona’s new illegal immigration law SB 1070, in an Obama Justice Department lawsuit challenging the law which set to take effect on July 29th.  On July 6, the Obama Justice Department filed a lawsuit against the State of Arizona and Governor Jan Brewer and requested a preliminary injunction preventing the law from being enforced.

According to today’s Judicial Watch’s court filing:

To further the interests of his legislative district and all citizens of Arizona, Senator Pearce authored SB 1070.  On January 13, 2010, Senator Pearce introduced SB 1070 into the Arizona Senate.  Over several months, Senator Pearce worked with his colleagues to enact a statutory scheme that made SB 1070 the public policy of all state and local government agencies in Arizona.  Senator Pearce was the chief sponsor of SB 1070 and voted in favor of its passage.  Senator Pearce’s efforts came to fruition when Governor Brewer signed SB 1070 and HB 2762 into law.”

“As the author and driving force behind the enactment of SB 1070, Senator Pierce has the right to defend it.”

On April 23, 2010, Arizona Governor Jan Brewer signed into law legislation authored by State Sen. Pearce that, among other provisions, makes it a crime to be in the State of Arizona without proper documentation.  State Sen. Pearce crafted the language in the bill consistent with federal law.  However, the Obama Justice Department filed a lawsuit challenging the law and requesting a preliminary injunction preventing the law from being enforced.

State Senator Pearce issued the following statement today on his legal effort to defend SB 1070:

“The purpose of SB 1070 is to protect the citizens of Arizona from the devastating and deadly impact of rampant illegal immigration.  And it is outrageous that the Obama administration would attack Arizona for simply protecting its own citizens, especially when it has failed so miserably to do its constitutional duty and secure the border.  This is a legal battle of epic proportions. As a Senator in a state on the frontlines, I see firsthand the damage being done to our state and our country. What happens here in Arizona will impact every state in the country interested in protecting its citizens by enforcing the rule of law.  We are a nation of laws.  We must have the courage – the fortitude – to enforce, with compassion but without apology, those laws that protect the integrity of our borders and the rights of our lawful citizens.

Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton issued the following statement today on the new push to defend SB 1070:

Our work to defend SB 1070 for Senator Pearce may be the most important piece of litigation that Judicial Watch has undertaken in its 16 year history.  In many ways, this comes down to a fight between those who want to enforce the law and those who do not.  The Obama White House wants to kill this law because it does not want to bear its constitutional responsibility to secure the border and enforce the law.  We are proud to stand with Arizona State Sen. Pearce, Governor Brewer and the citizens of Arizona in support of the rule of law.”

Judicial Watch’s Arizona counsel is Geoffrey Kercsmar of the firm Kercsmar & Feltus PLLC.

AZ Black Congress Candidate Backed By Top Tea Party Blasts NAACP

State’s Largest Tea Party Group Endorses AZ African-American
Congressional Candidate; Demands NAACP President End Smear Campaign Against Freedom-Loving Citizens

Phoenix, AZ – Project 2010, the largest organization of affiliated Tea Parties in Arizona, voted last week to endorse Vernon Parker over Ben Quayle, son of former Vice President Dan Quayle, in the hotly contested Third Congressional District to replace John Shadegg.
Parker, who has been a Presidential advisor, a “Fiscal Hawk” as mayor and a pastor, is African American.
Today, Parker blasted the ridiculous attempt by the NAACP President Ben Jealous to smear Tea Party members: “Racists don’t endorse African American’s for Congress, but that’s exactly what the Arizona 2010 Project, Tea Party, did when they endorsed me. It’s shameful for elitists like Ben Jealous, who take their orders from the White House and use race to try and divide America. It is wrong, and our citizens should demand better from these so-called leaders,” Parker said.
****
Parker, the first African-American mayor in Paradise Valley’s history, is now running to be the first African-American to serve Arizona in the U.S. Congress. Parker previously served as General Counsel of a major federal Agency, then in the White House as Special Assistant to President George H. W. Bush. Later, Parker was nominated by President George W. Bush and unanimously confirmed by the United States Senate, as an Assistant Secretary at the United States Department of Agriculture.  What Ben Jealous fails to understand is that Parker’s life story – growing up poor, pulling himself up through hard work and education – is embraced by the citizens who created the Tea Party movement.
Parker, the first African-American mayor or councilman in Paradise Valley’s history is now seeking to be the first African-American to serve Arizona in the U.S. Congress. He is currently waging a formidable campaign to replace the popular John Shadegg, who has decided to retire after many years of outstanding service to the Third Congressional District.
Parker previously served as General Counsel of a major federal Agency, then in the White House as Special Assistant to President George H. W. Bush. Later, Parker was nominated by President George W. Bush and unanimously confirmed with bipartisan support by the United States Senate, as an Assistant Secretary at the United States Department of Agriculture.
A small businessman, Parker also served as a pastor for two years at a small non-denominational church in Paradise Valley. He is a graduate of Georgetown Law School in Washington, D.C., where he met his wife, Lisa, a second generation Arizonan.
Parker will take his message of cutting taxes, border security and creating policies that help the private sector create jobs to the nation’s capitol.  His campaign theme is “Restoring Faith in America”.
To arrange interviews with Parker please contact Jason Rose or go to www.Parker2010.com .

You’re invited to a fundraiser for the Andrew Thomas for Attorney General campaign

ABOUT ANDREW THOMAS

During Thomas’ time in office, crime rates plummeted.  The 19 percent drop is more than twice the national rate of decline, in despite of an 11 percent increase in the county’s population during that time. The illegal immigrant population has dropped by anywhere from 18 percent (Dept. of Homeland Security estimate) to 30 percent (Center for Immigration Studies estimate). Like the fall in crime rates, this dramatic decline in illegal immigration is far greater than the average in the rest of the nation.
Thomas is married with four children. He is a graduate of Harvard Law School. Prior to serving as Maricopa County Attorney, Thomas served as an assistant attorney general for Arizona, deputy counsel and criminal justice policy advisor to the Governor, special assistant to the Director of the Arizona Department of Corrections, and a deputy county attorney.

The Making of a John McCain Attack Video

Watch closely as John McCain staffer, Matt Ligouri, holds a video camera and tapes US Senate candidate, JD Hayworth, as he speaks to fellow Republicans in Legislative District 17.

YouTube Preview Image

Once the video taping has occurred, it will be handed off to and reviewed by a high level McCain staffer who determines if there is any usable content or expressions that can be used in an attack ad against JD Hayworth. The video is then handed off to Richard Sales who will transform it into something completely unrelated to the discussion that occurred at the meeting. Through the process of speeding up the tape, accentuating facial expressions, or enhancing color tones, McCain’s ad team hopes to produce something embarrassing to JD Hayworth that they can use to manipulate voters.

My purpose in presenting this is to educate the voters to the behind-the-scene actions of Team McCain and how they create attack ads. With the exception of Grant Woods, you will likely never see a high level McCain staffer (there are around 60 paid staffers) at one of these events taping JD Hayworth. Voters must realize that Team McCain follows JD Hayworth around to almost every public event attempting to embarrass JD Hayworth by either donning a pig costume, or by capturing some video clip that can be manipulated to make JD Hayworth look bad.

Campaign tactics such as this denote sophomoric and behavior unbecoming of a senior United States Senator. It is also a clear violation of Ronald Reagan’s 11th Commandment. One would think that a US Senator striving to finalize his political career as a statesman would avoid such tactics at all cost but as Time Magazine recently stated, John McCain has “A fierce desire for self-preservation.”

Dr. Paul Gosar Raises Over $360,000
Conservative Republican Picks Up Major Endorsements

JULY 12, 2010 – Prescott, AZ:  Today, Dr. Paul Gosar announced his campaign for the United States Congress has raised over $360,000 going into the August 24th Republican Primary. This fundraising total caps an exciting quarter which included Dr. Gosar receiving the endorsements of 3 of America’s toughest Sheriffs – Sheriff Joe Arpaio, Sheriff Paul Babeu and Sheriff Joe Richards.

“I am honored that so many believe in my message of securing our border, repealing Obama’s socialized medicine plan, creating jobs and finally getting our country’s spending under control,” said Dr. Paul Gosar. “I am the candidate who will beat Ann Kirkpatrick in November and I will beat her on her own home turf, the one she has failed to serve and protect from financial disaster.”

“I oppose amnesty for illegal immigrants and support SB1070.   I will fight in Congress to make sure our law enforcement officers in Arizona protecting us on the front lines of our nation’s immigration battle have the resources needed to secure our border,” said Dr. Gosar. “It’s absurd that President Obama and his Washington, D.C. lawyers are suing the law abiding citizens of Arizona.  I am outraged by this action.”

Dr. Paul Gosar as a small businessman in our Congressional District has created and protected jobs for the last 25 years. He is a dentist and a well respected health care provider who has garnered many awards and honors, such as the Arizona Dental Association’s “Dentist of the Year,” and was inducted into the Arizona Dental Association’s Hall of Fame.  He served as the President of both the Northern Arizona Dental Society and the Arizona Dental Association. He was Chair of the Arizona Dental Association’s Council on Government Affairs and the Vice-Chair of the American Dental Association’s Council on Government Affairs.

Dr. Gosar is a 25 year active resident of Flagstaff and married to Maude for 22 years and they have been blessed with three children.
