The kind of politician you can’t trust
Yesterday morning Jim Ward, the candidate for Congress who moved here from San Francisco last year to run for office, took the Fox News logo off his website, essentially admitting that he lied to the voters in person, in mail pieces – telling them that he had been profiled as an up-and-comer.
As Jim Ward’s campaign deflates amid lies, runaway spending, and ideological gaffs, he has shown that he is ill prepared to run for Congress if the dethroned marketing executive can’t even market his own platform for Congress.
Which, by the way, what does Jim Ward stand for outside of not being David Schweikert? Not real border security. Not free trade. Not protecting taxpayers or demonstrating a fiscal conservative record. He’s a cocktail show-hound who thought he could buy a Congressional seat by shaking hands, buying young people rounds of drinks — fooling the voters through false advertising.
Jim: We’re not buying it. Your product is dishonest. And we can’t trust you.

There was a poll done by the former company he ran in San Francisco, Lucas Arts, about whether they would want him as their politician, and the answer was resoundingly NO. Tells you a lot about the guy.

Ward sounds like Obama on immigration, promised a clean campaign then went negative. Typical Ad Man, say whatever you need to say to get the sale/vote, and forget the truth.
Ward’s a marketing advertising guy by trade…a salesmen….all they want is the sale and will do or say anything to get the deal done. CD5 Ain’t buyin’ your used car or your lies.
Jim is a great guy and has done a lot for us all. For example he invented the Internet, penicillin, the airplane and California. He is a big advocate for change and will no doubt one day win a Nobel prize for stopping global warming.
Years ago he sold me an Isuzu pick up and it almost ran on several occasions. Just because he doesn’t understand anything about Arizona doesn’t mean he won’t be as good for CD5 as Obama is for the Country.
Please consider all these “facts” before you judge him

Behind the scenes on the campaign trail – - in last night’s tela-town hall, Jim Ward used a script to respond to canned questions. Silly, right?
Anybody remember the last CD5 candidate to read from a scrip?
That’s right… Congressman Harry Mitchell. Reading from an index card.
Maybe Congressman Mitchell and California Jim Ward behave so similarly because the same guy who wrote Congressman emails in 2008 is writing Jim Ward’s emails in 2010.
That’s right. You heard me correct. The same guy who wrote emails for Congressman Mitchell in 2008 is writing emails for California Jim Ward in 2010.
Anyone else see a problem here?
What we KNOW about Jim Ward from looking at his record, is he’s NEVER VOTED IN A REPUBLICAN PRIMARY IN HIS LIFE… and now he wants to be your next Congressman.

As his campaign melts down, it is even MORE clear – as if it has to be – that Schweikert is the clear choice here. If you want more Mitchell, vote for Ward. If I was trashing a candidate for being insufficently conservative I wouldn’t post a link to a poll of the Star Wars community. The ones who bothered to vote almost certainly voted for Obuma. A scan of the comments section confirmed that the people responding to this poll were overwhelmingly leftist.
I think the real take-away of that Star Wars community poll is that it is feedback, or a warning shot rather, from Jim Ward’s base. The people he has built a “business” career with, don’t like him.
OK SA- I liked you so much better when you were not just trying to promote certain candidates by knocking others down.
Lest you think otherwise, I am not against shilling for candidates. Also, I am not Jim Ward supporter per se. I am however, not a hater. As a matter of fact, having met him on several occasions (none of which was at a cocktail party), he came across as genuine and hard working. Hearing about all the money he is paying consultants I kind of feel sorry for the guy.
It is so hard to find people who are willing to run for office. Let’s all just keep trying to make it so personally humiliating that no one will ever step into the fray.
Try going after the Dems for a change. Bash Harry Mitchell to weaken him NOW so that we have a candidate to emerge from the primary ready to take him out.
I have met Jim Ward too. And you know what? He comes across as fake and arrogant, just like you would expect from some millionaire carpetbagger who moved here from Nancy Pelosi’s San Fransisco to run for Congress.
Obviously Mr. Ward isn’t tough enough to take on the Democrat incumbent Congressman Harry Mitchell if this bothers him.
Harry Mitchell will crush Jim Ward for being a carpetbagger. Period.
Ward is a good guy. The lesson to be learned here is that politics operate on a different set of rules than business. In business, you cultivate relationships for the long term. The way you treat people will define your reputation and future success as people do talk and network.
In politics, it is a bit like March madness in the NCAA. Win or go home and be forgotten.
Everyone plays footsie in the beginning, stating they will rise above the petty personal attacks all the while crossing their fingers behind their back and rubbing the long knife tucked under their waist.
We are entering the phase of the long knife.
You have to be a bit nasty to play in this league. Sorry to say this, but if Ward has any chance, he will need to let the dogs out.
I too have met Jim Ward. He talks down to women. I don’t like that.
I too have met Jim Ward. He came here and made a big deal about buying a U.S. House seat. He bragged to everyone he was the next best thing. I showed up in his Jaguar. He dropped big names. But he has yet to stand on his own two feet and show he can win.
He promised a clean campaign. And we get tens of thousands of dollars in mail attacking the front runner who has actual relationships in this community. Jim Ward is pathetic. God knows how much money he has spent trying to tell everyone he wants to have a San Francisco Java with them.
I’m mad because Jim Ward blew the chance to be my next Congressman by being so arrogant.
Well I think that Ward can chalk this one in the loss category. Its been a good run for a 1st timer. Looks like David is going to take the primary on this one. Time for the other primary candidates to throw their support behind David so we can stop all the interparty bickering and focus on the main goal… BEATING HARRY MITCHELL! David is going to be part of the revolution that takes over Congress in 2010 like Hayworth was in 1994.

Anyone that meets a person when the “person” is a candidate is not meeting the real person. They are meeting the candidate. And the only thing worse than a candidate is a successful one, those we call “politicians.”
There are exceptions. Schweikert is one.
For the record…it looks like there is a “new” commentor by the name of Ann. Not good ol’ me.
I like Jim. And David. Pro-choice SBS…not so much.
I don’t understand the point of these pile-on-Ward posts and comment parties from the Schweikert gang. It’s not as if Joe Sweatsock undecided voter dials up Sonoran Alliance for help choosing a candidate. And I’d think that most would figure out that these posts are coming from a camp opposing Ward, anyway.
I’m probably wrong. I have to remember that this blog continues to amaze me with its eat-our-own mission.
In direct response to the “pile-on” comment, I believe I speak for many when I say:
**I will neither apologize for being a conservative nor fall for candidates who give me no record to trust that they are.**
Without a record, how can we truly trust a candidate – - because they are all just candidates. If you look at what they’ve done, that is the only true indication of what they will do.
Any “camp” opposing Ward only does so because he gives us nothing to truly believe. He gives no conviction. No journey to inspire. Nothing.
Either we stand on principles worth defending or we don’t.
Jim Ward gives no vision to stay the course.
Kudos for exposing the posers in this race. However, it does no good if “what’s said on Sonoran Alliance stays on Sonoran Alliance.”

The thing I will say is yes there is not a bunch of undecided voters on here… However I can tell you the msm in phoenix looks at these blogs sometimes for breaking news or for gossip to look into its validity.
That honestly is why people pile on with these pieces and comments.
I’m embarrassed for Jim at this point. I don’t want a congressman that will embarrass my district.
Ward was a loser from the word go, but Schweikert has a proven losing record too. He hasn’t yet demonstrated how he will defeat Mitchell.
Just winning the primary isn’t enough, David. Looks like voters will give you another shot, so you better get going. If Liberal Harry isn’t beat this time (and in this political environment), your name will rightfully be mud.

Hey all of you Schweikert people- no one (including David himself) has explained why a Schweikert/Mitchell rematch ends any differently than 2 years ago.
You can pretend that Obama at the top of the ticket vs. a good year for the GOP can get David the 10 points he needs, but I don’t buy it.
Schweikert winning the Primary = 2 more years of Mitchell.
Oh, and all you crybabies talking about Jim Ward’s “Hit Piece” against David surely didn’t object to David’s robocall yesterday trying to tie Jim to Nancy Pelosi. (You know, because he once lived within 200 miles of Pelosi’s campaign HQ building)
At the end of the day David Schweikert is still David Schweikert, as unelectable as ever.

I mean these guys sound horrible… I wanted JD in this race I think he would have been great for us but we have David. You have to hope he learns from his mistakes that he made last time and he gets some help from the NRCC (although they have given no indication they are helping in this race and the DCCC already has announced ad buys for Mitchell).
So we will see what happens but dont try playing the electability card when all the guys are even less electable than David

I guess it’s easy to complain about David 2 years ago. It was a completely different climate back then for the republicans thanks to Bush. Now it’s all changed. So rather than lament on why David didn’t win last election, realize why no republican ever had a chance. You seem to complain about everyone without a solution. Why don’t you take a needed one hour break away from your computer and DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! Put a sign in your yard, write a check, or better yet, volunteer – that’s free! That really is quite a lot of people… I mean it could literally be any of the CD-5 candidates, although my money is on Guttersmith, her campaign in 08 was SO negative that I would not be surprised.
Or it could have been schweikert… just because he has the largest network and Ward is probably his only real competition…

I actually have inside knowledge about the sign thing. It was a paid team that made the mistake. The red label meant to go on Jim Waring’s sign in CD3 – Ward, McCain, and Waring all use the same hired service. Salvino, Schweikert, and Bitter Smith do all their signs themselves while Ward hangs out poolside in his multi-million dollar mansion in north Scottsdale. Maybe if he rolled up his sleeves and got his white shirts a little dirty, and put his own signs up, these embarrassing problems wouldn’t happen for the Ward campaign time and time again. Either way, the man is an out of touch elitist.

Jim Ward said in the Scottsdale voter forum which I attended that that he believes in Fair trade and not free trade … which is exactly what Nancy Pelosi believes.
