AG Candidate Andrew Thomas Unveils First TV Commercial: “Conservative vs. Con Man”

Attorney General Candidate Andrew Thomas Unveils First Commercial of Campaign: “Conservative vs. Con Man”

PHOENIX, ARIZONA JULY 20, 2010.  Andrew Thomas’ campaign for Arizona Attorney General unveiled its first television commercial today: “Conservative vs. Con Man”.  It is scheduled to begin airing statewide.
The video can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VtJgeuXLA_0
The spot highlights Thomas’ success reducing crime and illegal immigration, as well as Tom Horne’s banishment for life by the SEC for financial fraud.
Thomas has been endorsed by notable Arizona law enforcement leaders including Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, Yavapai County Sheriff Steve Waugh, Mohave County Attorney Matthew Smith, Mohave County Sheriff Tom Sheahan, Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu, Cochise County Sheriff Larry Dever, Phoenix Law Enforcement Association, Arizona Police Association and former Arizona Attorney General and NRA President Bob Corbin.  Former Arizona State Senator Jonathan Paton, Arizona Right to Life and former Congressman Tom Tancredo have endorsed Thomas as well.
During Thomas’ time in office, crime rates plummeted.  The 19 percent drop is more than twice the national rate of decline, in despite of an 11 percent increase in the county’s population during that time.  The illegal immigrant population has dropped by anywhere from 18 percent (Dept. of Homeland Security estimate) to 30 percent (Center for Immigration Studies estimate). Like the fall in crime rates, this dramatic decline in illegal immigration is far greater than the average in the rest of the nation.
Thomas has a track record of successfully defending illegal immigration crackdowns in our courts, including his successful efforts to prosecute illegal immigrants for conspiring to violate the state’s human-smuggling law and to defend Prop 200′s voter ID requirements and the employer-sanctions law, which he defended along with the Attorney General’s Office.
If elected Attorney General Thomas has pledged to expand that office’s prosecutions of illegal immigrants under the state’s human smuggling laws. The office is not currently pursuing such prosecutions.
Thomas is married with four children.  He is a graduate of Harvard Law School.  Prior to serving as Maricopa County Attorney, Thomas served as an assistant attorney general for Arizona, deputy counsel and criminal justice policy advisor to the Governor, special assistant to the Director of the Arizona Department of Corrections, and a deputy county attorney.

  1. Arizona Ranger says:

    Friends,
We have finally been able to pass legislation (SB 1070) that allows our police officers to become involved in the every day indentification of illegal immigrants as well as the option to prosecute illegals for certain acts. But…and this is the big one, we need an Attorney General who is going to stand behind this law and not try to ignore it!
Mr. Horne has publicly stated he will not support it. That and a few other questions about his past make the choice easy. Vote for Andy Thomas if you want our immigration laws (as well as ALL of our other laws) upheld.
There is no doubt in my mind that Andy Thomas is a dedicated and truly fearless prosecutor-we NEED that quality in our Attorney General! He is also extremely ethical, a trait missing in so many of our elected individuals (Hint: think of the BOS!!)
Let’s get behind Andy with our votes and our support. We really do NEED Andy Thomas for Attorney General!

  2. Carlist says:

    No doubt about it!

Immigration & the Rule of Law is the dividing line within the GOP this primary.

The sides are fairly well drawn between the party’s rank and file vs its business elites!

Andy Thomas, Bill Montgomery and J.D. Hayworth can be relied upon to ‘walk the walk’ for the rule of law. Their opponents and enemies within the GOP can be counted on to push for solutions which will line their pockets at the expense the state’s legal citizenry.

    It’s as simple as that!

  3. Bill says:

When you run with public funds, you’re stuck making these types of ads. The production value rivals that of a PowerPoint presentation.

  4. Retired Prosecutor says:

Ranger: It is absolutely not true; Horne is a strong supporter of SB1070; he has never said, publicly or privately, that he does not support SB1070. On the contrary, he has pledged to support it. He even offered to defend it when Goddard opposed it.

Andrew Thomas is unethical. Judges have so ruled. It is likely that he will be disbarred for charging Judges with racketeering crimes with no evidence. If you’re so paranoid ab/ corrupt Supervisors & Judges, then you must believe Thomas will be indicted and convicted, even though you think he should not be. Then we’d have an AG or candidate who must withdraw/resign. So you think Thomas should be elected anyway? That’s ridiculous.

  5. ccburro says:

“If elected Attorney General Thomas has pledged to expand that office’s prosecutions of illegal immigrants under the state’s human smuggling laws. The office is not currently pursuing such prosecutions.” Given the cuts to the AG’s office during the past year or two, I wonder what trade-offs, that is, what other crimes Thomas would not be pursuing in order to expand prosecutions of illegal immigrants…

  6. Ann says:

Let’s not forget…Thomas also has said he will not rule out expanding his persecution of political rivals!

A vote for Andy Thomas in the primary will elect Felicia Rotellini in the general. By November, Thomas will likely not be allowed to legally practice law or at the very least,be scnationed for…..unethical and illegal use of power.

  7. Elmer Bringleson says:

Who the hell is Felicia Rotellini….this is the first I’ve heard of that name. I’m going to assume she’s a Democrat.

But, then it wouldn’t be the first time Andy Thomas handed the AG’s office to the Democrats.

And Bill, you are absolutely right about the PowerPoint presentation quality of the ad.

Who is running the Thomas campaign anyway?

  8. AZJack says:

Andrew Thomas supports SB1070. Horne doesn’t support SB1070. Case closed. Andy is the one to vote for.

  9. Hello Folks,
Be Smart, Be selective vote Tom Horne for 2010 Attorney General-
Tom has also not only been endorsed by DPS-State Highway Patrol- again, though all our prayers Tom has also been endorsed by the Arizona Republic…….
Also for you folks that don’t know this, Tom was endorsed by Sheriff Joe when Tom was in the Legislature….
Here is some more information that should make a person really want to be selective- when voting for our next Attorney General-

    Making Conservative Principals work-

    Saving Tax Payers $300 Million
When a federal judge fined Arizona $1 Million dollars a day because he thought we should spend more on English language learners, the current attorney general refused to appeal. He and the governor were on the side of the plaintiffs who had sued the state. Only Tom Horne appealed. He took it all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, and won, sving the taxpayers 300 Million. The case, Horne vs. Flores, was an important 10th Amendment victory.

Putting a stop to Marxist Teaching

In a program called “Ethnic Studies” the Tucson schoolds divided students by race and taught each race separately. Latino students were put in “raza” (translated: “race”)studies, where they were taught a separatist, radical agenda, with an openly Marxist testbook. Tom Horne wrote legislation to give the state Superintendent the power to put a stop to this, and got it passed this year.

    Protecting the Border

Mexican students daily crossed the border at Lukeville and attended school in Ajo, at the expense of the Arizona Taxpayer. After some struggle in 2005, Tom Horne forced an agreement that registered mail would be used to verify U.S. addresses. In 2009, it was discovered that the Pima County Schools breached that agreement. Tom Horne then audited the schools, resulting in a $1.2 million fine, the largest in the history of the Department of Education.

As the next Attorney General when elected in the 2010 election- Tom Horne will help protect our borders, fight illegal immigration, enforce the laws, strictly so we are safe in our adn communities, and create a legal enviroment conductive to business growth..

    Tom Horne’s qualifications-
Former Assistant Attorney General- an evaluation of his work by the then AG office stated- “During this intense and extremely pressured situation, Mr. Horne at all times performed as a brilliant, masterful, and persuasive litigator.”
Lawyer for 30 years; always rated ” Very ethical” in annual surery of lawyers )Martindale Hubbell)

Judge Pro Tem: Superior Court and Court of Appeals
Substantial service in all branches of government
    Executive: State Superintendent of Schools
Legislative: Former member of the Legislature.
    Judicial: Former Judge Pro Tem
Local: School Board member for Arizona’s third largest district for 24 years, 10 years as it’s president.
Graduate of Harvard College, magnum cum laude, Graduate Harvard Law School, with honors….
Folks pleaes be smart, be selective and do not vote for Andrew Thomas as he is being investigated by the State Bar Association which he filed a motion to have the investigation stopped, also Andrew Thomas is being investigated by the FBI.
vote Tom Horne for our next Attorney General- please visit Tom Horne’s website at http://www.electtomhorn.com

Have a blessed day, Kelly S. Miles-

  10. Folks not only has Tom been endorsed by DPS-he as well has been endorsed by the Arizona Republic……… Yeah Tom Horne…..

    God bless you Tom,
    Kelly

  11. Fred Knows says:

I must say I am surprised that Andrew Thomas received any endorsement from the NRA. He may have a flimsy pro-gun record but just try and show or use a gun of any type for a just cause in his jurisdiction and you will be facing jail time. My line of work has led me to know people that have been prosecuted by Andrew Thomas and forced to plead to felonies for simply showing or having a weapon in the open. The Thomas office calls that “brandishing” a weapon.

I have met several people who have stopped criminals in the act of committing felonies by firing a weapon who then were prosecuted and sent to jail. One person stopped vandalism and a break-in from occurring at their neighbor’s home, plead to shooting within the city limits and was sent to jail. Another person I know actually stopped a kidnapping by firing a gun but was then forced to plead to a felony and was sent to jail. The Thomas office called that “shooting into a structure”. In each of these cases there was no victim but the Andrew Thomas office declared Maricopa County the victim.

I don’t know who the NRA meant to endorse, but I think they were duped into supporting Thomas. Gun owner’s rights ARE NOT PROTECTED under an Andrew Thomas administration. Gun owners protecting their families, property and others should not be prosecuted like common criminals. Thomas touts a 94% conviction rate and 200,000 felony cases. What good is Andrew Thomas’ conviction record if it means any of the people being prosecuted are average good citizens with families, jobs, who own real property, who pay their taxes and who find it necessary to opt for jail time by pleading to felony charges rather than taking a chance in court of being sent to prison?

Don’t vote for Andrew Thomas. You might be next.
