Conservative Talk Show Host, Hugh Hewitt,

Goes for Gosar

Flagstaff, AZ. July 14, 2010: The Gosar for Congress campaign is proud to announce that nationally syndicated Conservative talk show host and New York Times best-selling author Hugh Hewitt has formally endorsed Dr. Paul Gosar in his bid for the United States Congress in Arizona’s First Congressional District.

Hugh Hewitt’s nationally syndicated radio show is heard in more than 120 cities across the United States every weekday afternoon which has an audience estimated at more than 2 million listeners every week. Hewitt is a graduate of Harvard College and the University of Michigan Law School, and has been teaching Constitutional Law at Chapman University Law School since it opened in 1995. Professor Hewitt has been a frequent guest on CNN, Fox News Network, and MSNBC, and has written for The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and the Los Angeles Times. He has also received three Emmys for his work as co-host of the ground-breaking Life & Times program.  Hewitt also served for nearly six years in the Reagan Administration in a variety of posts, including Assistant Counsel in the White House and Special Assistant to two Attorneys General.

Hewitt, a national leader in Conservative politics, had this to say about his endorsement, “Washington has lost touch. Lost touch with the American people, our founding principles, and the very idea of what it means to be an American.  We have a national debt that is unsustainable, fueled by the largest expansion of government in our history. From socialized medicine, bailouts, and government takeovers, America cannot and will not last if we do not wake up.  That is why I am asking the people of Arizona’s First Congressional District  to join me in supporting Dr. Paul Gosar.  Dr. Gosar is a small businessman with the right common sense, no-nonsense attitude we need to get our country back on track.  I believe he is Arizona’s best chance of defeating the current incumbent who too often has been in lockstep with Nancy Pelosi and her leftist agenda of runaway spending and spiraling debt. Paul will bring to Washington the fight for common-sense, free enterprise reforms that focus on real job creation through lower taxes and limited government.”

“I have had the great pleasure of talking with Mr. Hewitt about the important issues facing our country,” said Dr. Gosar. “I am deeply moved that he has seen in me and my message a real chance to take America back from the brink and restore common sense to Washington. His endorsement means a great deal to me and my family.”

Dr. Gosar,  a 25 year resident of Flagstaff, father of three, sports and hunting enthusiast has been traveling all over Congressional District One for the past several months and has enjoyed meeting with supporters who share his belief that his background, and his experience in rural Arizona’s way of life, make him the GOP favorite to unseat Kirkpatrick.

Gosar has been endorsed by the American Dental Political Action Committee, Pinal County Supervisor Bryan Martyn, Sheriff Joe Arpaio, Sheriff Paul Babeu, former Sheriff Joe Richards, and NRA past President Bob Corbin to name a few.  He is an Arizona’s former “Dentist of the Year”, who has practiced general dentistry in Flagstaff for more than 25 years.

Judicial Watch to RepresentState Senator Pearce in “Legal Battle of Epic Proportions” against Obama Justice Department

State Senator Russell Pearce, Author of Arizona’s

SB 1070, Seeks to Intervene in Federal Lawsuit to Defend Arizona Immigration Law

Judicial Watch to RepresentState Senator Pearce in “Legal Battle of Epic Proportions” against Obama Justice Department

(Washington, DC) — Judicial Watch, the government watchdog group, announced today that it has filed a “Motion to Intervene” on behalf of Arizona State Senator Russell Pearce, author of Arizona’s new illegal immigration law SB 1070, in an Obama Justice Department lawsuit challenging the law which set to take effect on July 29th.  On July 6, the Obama Justice Department filed a lawsuit against the State of Arizona and Governor Jan Brewer and requested a preliminary injunction preventing the law from being enforced.

According to today’s Judicial Watch’s court filing:

To further the interests of his legislative district and all citizens of Arizona, Senator Pearce authored SB 1070.  On January 13, 2010, Senator Pearce introduced SB 1070 into the Arizona Senate.  Over several months, Senator Pearce worked with his colleagues to enact a statutory scheme that made SB 1070 the public policy of all state and local government agencies in Arizona.  Senator Pearce was the chief sponsor of SB 1070 and voted in favor of its passage.  Senator Pearce’s efforts came to fruition when Governor Brewer signed SB 1070 and HB 2762 into law.”

“As the author and driving force behind the enactment of SB 1070, Senator Pierce has the right to defend it.”

On April 23, 2010, Arizona Governor Jan Brewer signed into law legislation authored by State Sen. Pearce that, among other provisions, makes it a crime to be in the State of Arizona without proper documentation.  State Sen. Pearce crafted the language in the bill consistent with federal law.  However, the Obama Justice Department filed a lawsuit challenging the law and requesting a preliminary injunction preventing the law from being enforced.

State Senator Pearce issued the following statement today on his legal effort to defend SB 1070:

“The purpose of SB 1070 is to protect the citizens of Arizona from the devastating and deadly impact of rampant illegal immigration.  And it is outrageous that the Obama administration would attack Arizona for simply protecting its own citizens, especially when it has failed so miserably to do its constitutional duty and secure the border.  This is a legal battle of epic proportions. As a Senator in a state on the frontlines, I see firsthand the damage being done to our state and our country. What happens here in Arizona will impact every state in the country interested in protecting its citizens by enforcing the rule of law.  We are a nation of laws.  We must have the courage – the fortitude – to enforce, with compassion but without apology, those laws that protect the integrity of our borders and the rights of our lawful citizens.

Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton issued the following statement today on the new push to defend SB 1070:

Our work to defend SB 1070 for Senator Pearce may be the most important piece of litigation that Judicial Watch has undertaken in its 16 year history.  In many ways, this comes down to a fight between those who want to enforce the law and those who do not.  The Obama White House wants to kill this law because it does not want to bear its constitutional responsibility to secure the border and enforce the law.  We are proud to stand with Arizona State Sen. Pearce, Governor Brewer and the citizens of Arizona in support of the rule of law.”

Judicial Watch’s Arizona counsel is Geoffrey Kercsmar of the firm Kercsmar & Feltus PLLC.

AZ Black Congress Candidate Backed By Top Tea Party Blasts NAACP

State’s Largest Tea Party Group Endorses AZ African-American
Congressional Candidate; Demands NAACP President End Smear Campaign Against Freedom-Loving Citizens

Phoenix, AZ – Project 2010, the largest organization of affiliated Tea Parties in Arizona, voted last week to endorse Vernon Parker over Ben Quayle, son of former Vice President Dan Quayle, in the hotly contested Third Congressional District to replace John Shadegg.
Parker, who has been a Presidential advisor, a “Fiscal Hawk” as mayor and a pastor, is African American.
Today, Parker blasted the ridiculous attempt by the NAACP President Ben Jealous to smear Tea Party members: “Racists don’t endorse African American’s for Congress, but that’s exactly what the Arizona 2010 Project, Tea Party, did when they endorsed me. It’s shameful for elitists like Ben Jealous, who take their orders from the White House and use race to try and divide America. It is wrong, and our citizens should demand better from these so-called leaders,” Parker said.
****
Parker, the first African-American mayor in Paradise Valley’s history, is now running to be the first African-American to serve Arizona in the U.S. Congress. Parker previously served as General Counsel of a major federal Agency, then in the White House as Special Assistant to President George H. W. Bush. Later, Parker was nominated by President George W. Bush and unanimously confirmed by the United States Senate, as an Assistant Secretary at the United States Department of Agriculture.  What Ben Jealous fails to understand is that Parker’s life story – growing up poor, pulling himself up through hard work and education – is embraced by the citizens who created the Tea Party movement.
Parker, the first African-American mayor or councilman in Paradise Valley’s history is now seeking to be the first African-American to serve Arizona in the U.S. Congress. He is currently waging a formidable campaign to replace the popular John Shadegg, who has decided to retire after many years of outstanding service to the Third Congressional District.
Parker previously served as General Counsel of a major federal Agency, then in the White House as Special Assistant to President George H. W. Bush. Later, Parker was nominated by President George W. Bush and unanimously confirmed with bipartisan support by the United States Senate, as an Assistant Secretary at the United States Department of Agriculture.
A small businessman, Parker also served as a pastor for two years at a small non-denominational church in Paradise Valley. He is a graduate of Georgetown Law School in Washington, D.C., where he met his wife, Lisa, a second generation Arizonan.
Parker will take his message of cutting taxes, border security and creating policies that help the private sector create jobs to the nation’s capitol.  His campaign theme is “Restoring Faith in America”.
To arrange interviews with Parker please contact Jason Rose or go to www.Parker2010.com .

You’re invited to a fundraiser for the Andrew Thomas for Attorney General campaign

ABOUT ANDREW THOMAS

During Thomas’ time in office, crime rates plummeted.  The 19 percent drop is more than twice the national rate of decline, in despite of an 11 percent increase in the county’s population during that time. The illegal immigrant population has dropped by anywhere from 18 percent (Dept. of Homeland Security estimate) to 30 percent (Center for Immigration Studies estimate). Like the fall in crime rates, this dramatic decline in illegal immigration is far greater than the average in the rest of the nation.
Thomas is married with four children. He is a graduate of Harvard Law School. Prior to serving as Maricopa County Attorney, Thomas served as an assistant attorney general for Arizona, deputy counsel and criminal justice policy advisor to the Governor, special assistant to the Director of the Arizona Department of Corrections, and a deputy county attorney.
