Grassroots Interviews with LD 4 Senate candidate Tony Bouie

Before a lot of Bouie’s detractors on this site start posting inane comments, WATCH THE VIDEO! I promise you I asked Tony about almost every controversial issue or charge. After the interview, I told Tony if, as an African-American, he won a seat in the Senate AND created a record as conservative as Judy Burgess’ or Ron Gould’s, he would become a hero. If he wins, I hope he PROVES to be that conservative.

Tony got more tough questions than any other candidate I’ve interviewed. He was a class act in answering all my questions.

In the end, everyone needs to do their homework and choose the most conservative candidates. All three of these Senate candidates claim to be conservative, so, I understand that it can be difficult to discern who is the MOST conservative. All anyone can ask is that voters do their homework, follow their conscience or sound logic or both, then hold the politicians ACCOUNTABLE once they’re in office.

Hayworth vs. McCain Debate

Part of the McCain campaign strategy to win?

Spoiler like Ross Perot, Jim Deakin

A somewhat small and fuzzy picture … somewhat like the candidate.   The audacity of stepping out of nowhere and expecting to play in the major league without paying your dues is astounding!  No rookie ball player walks into a World Series playoff as the opening pitcher!

No rational or sane individual would consider this quest, especially considering they had no money with which to campaign.  He must know that by spoiling this election and insuring the Primary victory of someone as generally despised as the McSamester his political future in Arizona would be DOA come August 25th.

So now that I’ve challenged his sanity, and offended those who drink his brand of Kook-Aid,  let me propose a premise:  Jim Deakin is doing this as a “marker” that McCain will have to pay-off once the senior senile Senator is once again safely ensconced in the US Senate and able to carry out Obama’s wishes.

Consider that either Deakin is actually part of the McCain strategy to siphon off any possible margin JD Hayworth might carve out (in which case Deakin could be on the receiving end of a huge political payoff) … or, Deakin is a gambler throwing the dice and throwing the election to McCain in hopes of a payday down the road.

Either way, Jim Deakin is not serious about winning the Primary and he’s continuing a ruse that he can win.   It is both a positive thing that Glen Beck has awakened the voters to the domestic enemy within, and a dangerous thing that so many newly activated voters lack the political sophistication to see through the ruse Deakin is running on them.

Jim, if you’re out there – and I know you read this blog – please do Arizona and the country a favor and drop out of the race and either leave your followers to the remaining candidates to fight over or, consider the honorable thing in light of your rhetoric and fall in behind someone who can retire John McCain.  If you do not withdraw, and Arizona along with America is saddled with 6 more years of McSame, it will be your name that is remembered.

You made your point, you educated voters, and you can’t win; now do what is honorable and withdraw from the field and allow someone who can win, to do so.

Vietnam POW, friend of John McCain, endorses JD Hayworth

An unidentified fellow Hanoi Hilton POW and friend of John McCain announces his support for JD Hayworth at the Northwest Republicans meeting in Oro Valley on Thursday, July 8, 2010. One could hear a pin drop as he spoke respectfully of his friend, John McCain, but then asserted that it was time for John McCain to retire and come back to Arizona.

This endorsement also came on the heels of an endorsement by East Valley hero and legend, Larry “Lucky” Chesley.

Dean Martin Suspends Campaign

Dear Friends,

It has been an honor to serve the people of Arizona. Public service takes dedication and many long hours to accomplish the business of the people who elected us. I am humbled to have had the support of the people for these past 10 years.

Elected office was never my intended career path; I am a small business owner who was drafted to run for the Arizona State Senate and then later Arizona State Treasurer. I am proud of my service and I am forever grateful for the support you have given me over the years. I especially want to thank my friends and colleagues who stood by my side last year during the tragic death of my wife Kerry and my son Austin. I will never forget your support.

Today, I am announcing that I am suspending my campaign for Governor of Arizona. During a time when the Obama Administration has filed a frivolous lawsuit against our great state, a budget deficit is looming, and our economy is still shaky, I feel a contested primary would be a distraction. While a serious debate about the fiscal condition of our state is needed, the heavy hand of the Obama Administration will not allow this debate to continue. I fully intend to support the Governor in her battle with the Obama Administration and its relentless attack on the people of Arizona.

In that regard, I urge the Governor to file suit against the Federal Government for the costs of not securing our border. Earlier this year I sent former Arizona Governor and now Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano a bill for one billion dollars of uncompensated costs due to incarceration of illegal immigrants who have committed felonies in Arizona. This is a good start and trust the Governor will follow through. As a state we need to stand together to fight the overreaching federal government that has failed to secure our border with Mexico.

I want to thank the countless volunteers who have been part of this campaign since January. Their dedication to the campaign and Arizona is second to none. But our state and the residents of Arizona are more important than playing politics. The Obama Administration’s lawsuit is a blatant attempt to divide us and I will not be part of the problem; rather I intend to be part of the solution. Attorney General Terry Goddard, is not willing to enforce our laws and is instead playing the role as Obama-defender-in-chief. I got into this race because I did not want to see Goddard become Governor. This is still my goal, and is the reason I have made this decision to suspend my campaign.

Governor Brewer is going to need all our help to shoulder the burden of defending Arizona from the federal government. It is our duty to stand together as Arizona residents against an intrusive federal bureaucracy.

While my service to this state as an elected official will come to an end in December, I will continue to serve in other ways. After taking some much needed time off, I will be focusing my efforts on the charitable foundation we established, MartinCharities.org to continue my late wife Kerry’s spirit of service to the community in water safety and financial literacy.
Thank-you and God Bless the great State of Arizona.

Dean Martin

Dean Martin Was Right – Should be Governor

Here is a video clip from January 8, 2009, long before State Treasurer ever thought about seeking the Office of Governor with Napolitano on her way out.

Observe the two styles of leadership exhibited here. Treasurer Martin is calm cool and collective but definitely firm in his warning to Governor Napolitano that the State of Arizona is going broke. Napolitano is clearly shaken, grabs her things and storms off.

Shortly thereafter, Governor Napolitano departed the State of Arizona leaving Secretary of State Jan Brewer to succeed her. With a Republican Governor at the helm, one would think that Brewer would have taken the Chris Christie approach to the state budget and cut, cut, cut spending. Instead we got a Governor who hiked, hiked, hiked the sales tax 18%. (Incidentally, the last Governor to do this was another Republican, Jane Hull.)

Now the State still finds itself in a budget crisis with no sign of closing the deficit and a recession that will likely double-dip.

Grassroots Interviews with Gubernatorial Candidate Dean Martin

Last night on Grassroots Interviews, I interviewed my friend, current Treasurer and gubernatorial candidate, Dean Martin. If you want to learn how Brewer is leading you astray, watch the interview. The truth is, before merely signing 1070 (after dropping a poll on the bill’s popularity and being threatened by a gubernatorial run by Sheriff Joe), Brewer had NOT done a single thing about illegal immigration. Dean Martin, however, sponsored legislation to deal with the issue while in the Senate. Dean is the ONLY candidate who has the financial experience and political will to fix our budget problems. In my opinion, we NEED Dean as Governor.
