“John McCain was very instrumental in getting immigration reform to the point that it was in 2005, 2006 and 2007,” he told reporters during Thursday’s briefing. “I doubt we’re going to get comprehensive immigration reform if we don’t have John McCain doing — doing what he believed in, in those years.”

Memo to Robert Gibbs: The White House will get the old John McCain back if he gets re-elected.

If you’re wondering if we can really trust John McCain’s new found convenient conservatism, here’s what conservative activist Michelle Malkin said the other morning (5/27) during an appearance on Fox & Friends.

Gosar Campaign Announces Significant Endorsement

Flagstaff, AZ. June 3, 2010: The Gosar for Congress campaign is proud to announce that former Coconino County Sheriff, Joe Richards has endorsed Dr. Gosar in his bid to win the Republican Party’s nomination to defeat Ann Kirkpatrick this summer.

Sheriff Richards spent 32 years as sheriff of Coconino County making him one of the longest serving Sheriffs in U.S. history. With a total of 44 years in law enforcement, Richards retired in 2004 and has remained active in Northern Arizona, while pursuing a second career as an artist.

Richards, who joins Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio in supporting Dr. Gosar, had this to say about his endorsement, “It is my belief that our country and more specifically our district deserves to be represented fairly and honestly.  It is time that our representatives went back serving the People’s interest instead of their own.  In my 44 years in law enforcement and 32 years as Sheriff of Coconino County, I have seen far too many politicians say one thing and then do another.  The era of platitudes and spin must come to an end. I believe that Dr. Paul Gosar is just the kind of straight talking leader rural Arizona needs.  He is a common sense, no-nonsense small businessman. I believe he has the right background and the right message to give rural Arizona a real voice in Washington.  That is why I have endorsed Dr. Gosar.”

Dr. Gosar had this to say about Sheriff Richards’ endorsement, “My family and I have admired Sheriff Richards for over 25 years.  When I opened my dental practice in Flagstaff in 1985 Sheriff Richards was already highly respected by the folks in our community. He remains as popular today as the day he retired from office.  To have him endorse me and my campaign is extremely humbling.  The Sheriff and I have had numerous conversations regarding the challenges facing our communities. I am anxious to work with him as we fight to bring common sense back to Washington.”

Dr. Gosar,  a 25 year resident of Flagstaff, father of three, sports and hunting enthusiast has been traveling all over Congressional District One for the past several months and has enjoyed meeting with supporters who share his belief that his background, and his experience in rural Arizona’s way of life, make him the GOP favorite to unseat Kirkpatrick.

Gosar has been endorsed by the American Dental Political Action Committee, Pinal County Supervisor Bryan Martyn, Sheriff Joe Arpaio, and NRA past President Bob Corbin to name a few.  He is an Arizona’s former “Dentist of the Year”, who has practiced general dentistry in Flagstaff for more than 25 years.
