This bill gives the executive branch the power to declare any American a terrrrrist on a whim and detain them indefinitely without trial. Yes–American citizens are expressly included in this police state bill. You can bet both antiwar lefties and Tea Party righties are high on the list, but greenies, gun owners, libertarians and others will certainly be considered potential inmates for the McPain-Obama camps.

The most heinous provisions are cited below from the actual bill:

(2) CRITERIA FOR DESIGNATION OF INDIVIDUALS AS HIGH-VALUE DETAINEES- The regulations required by this subsection shall include criteria for designating an individual as a high-value detainee based on the following:

A) The potential threat the individual poses for an attack on civilians or civilian facilities within the United States or upon United States citizens or United States civilian facilities abroad at the time of capture or when coming under the custody or control of the United States.
(B) The potential threat the individual poses to United States military personnel or United States military facilities at the time of capture or when coming under the custody or control of the United States.
(C) The potential intelligence value of the individual.
(D) Membership in al Qaeda or in a terrorist group affiliated with al Qaeda.
(E) Such other matters as the President considers appropriate.

An individual, including a citizen of the United States, determined to be an unprivileged enemy belligerent under section 3(c)(2) in a manner which satisfies Article 5 of the Geneva Convention Relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War may be detained without criminal charges and without trial for the duration of hostilities against the United States or its coalition partners in which the individual has engaged, or which the individual has purposely and materially supported, consistent with the law of war and any authorization for the use of military force provided by Congress pertaining to such hostilities.

McCain truly is a liberal scum bag. Because he has to face us the voters in the primary he thinks spending millions on commercials trying to give him a conservative makeover will help, well we have not forgotten how this left wing nut job behaves when he is not up for re-election. He is the problem with the republican party, we have allowed “progressives” like him in the party and they have lead us astray. He is pals with John Kerry, Lindsey Graham (leftest senator from S.C) and many other “progressives.
I will not support him, in fact as a life long republican, if he wins the primary I will support the democrat, why? Because at least there I will know I m voting for someone honest enough to tell me they are for a socialist form of government rather than vote for someone who has had a miraculous change of views just before election and will turn away from we t he voters again once he gets re-elected.

Be a patriot and do NOT vote for this spineless fool.

I would remind you folks that McCain’s position and behavior were demonstrated at Congressiona open hearings regarding M.I.A centered legislation.

He fought it “tooth and nail” much to the surprise of the Veterans Group witnesses who testified on its behalf.

The youtube videos which emerged during the 2008′s presidential campaign are “out there” and will confirm the validity of the column!

This adds to my reasons why I will not be voting for that tyrant McCain in August. Unlike most Republicans here in the State I still remember how he was trying to force amnesty down our throats and he didn’t care that we his consituants didn’t want it. BTW: Regarding the killing of the M.I.A legislation and McCain’s participation, you should contact Bob Dornan and Bob Smith who co-sponsored the legistlation.

They were livid regarding “The John’s” behavior and gave severa interviews on the subject!

You acknowledge that there probably are or were POWs left in viet Nam and you’re convinced to the point where some even ended up in Russia.

That seems to be in agreement with Steve’s comment before yours.

However, you then accuse the SA post’s author of being a liar for essentially posting the work of POW/MIA groups (the film) and an excerpt of an article written by amconmag.com former publisher and owner also confirming essentially the same thing.

The dots don’t seem to connect.

I worked with George “Lucky Patterson” for years. His brother, James Patterson( Google him) was shot down over N. Vietnam and was missing in action, presumed dead. As I’m a Viet Nam Vet I was very interested in Lucky’s search for his brother. It took him from the spot his brother was shot down in N. Viet Nam to Russia where some POW’s were reportedly spotted. I have read confidential reports and thousands of pages of interviews. Did the N. Vietnamese keep some POW’s? I don’t know. I’m convinced some of the more technical POW’s were taken to Russia and China. The chance they survived is almost zero as they would be an embarrassment to the respective Governments.

In my opinion who ever wrote this article is a liar. He has disgraced himself, this blog and all Viet Nam Veterans.
