Reviewing the file on who has been a stronger advocate for border security, Congressman JD Hayworth stands head and shoulders above John McCain. For those of you who may have been persuaded by McCain’s political makeover, here is the trailer of a movie put out by Citizens United in 2006. The film, Border War, was awarded Best Feature Film of 2006 at the Liberty Film Festival and was voted Best Documentary of 2006 by American Film Renaissance. Congressman JD Hayworth was featured as the public policy authority in the film.
While Team McCain “spins” a JD Hayworth quote out of context, I thought it would be equally important to have John McCain reveal his intellectual capacity in his own words.
Many people do not know that John McCain graduated 894th out of a class of 899 at the US Naval Academy! Here are two vids showing John McCain at his finest. We’ll call this “barely passing.”
Maybe John McCain would be interested in disclosing his transcripts from his Naval Academy days.

Goldwater Institute
In February, I wrote an article about the graduation rates at our community colleges and universities. I pointed out that they are near the bottom of national rankings. ABC 15 did a story focusing on Arizona State University’s four-year graduation rate of 28 percent.
An ASU spokeswoman argued in the news story there is not a problem with dropouts, but with the statistics, saying “The idea of four-year graduation rate, it doesn’t take into account over half of the students that go to college.”
The federal government, not the Goldwater Institute, collects the statistics cited. In fact, the universities themselves enter the data into the federal database. Furthermore, the statistics cited only take into account students who had a full class schedule and were seeking an undergraduate degree.
The late Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan once said, “The single most exciting thing you encounter in government is competence, because it’s so rare.” This self-reported data reveals a disturbing lack of competence in what ought to be ASU’s core mission as a public university: educating and graduating students.

Phoenix, AZ (May 25) – U.S. Senate J.D. Hayworth spokesman’s Mark Sanders said, in response to the McCain web ad, regarding Congressman Hayworth’s statement:
“It was a mistake that the McCain camp is trying to shamelessly use to distract voters from the real issues. They may believe it is clever and cute to show war footage including cannon firing and the Third Reich’s war machine. But it’s not and it is politics at its worst, which is what we have come to expect from John McCain.
“As we approach Memorial Day, we honor the men and women of the Greatest Generation for their service. McCain uses them as a political tool.
“The real question is not who misspoke about an event nearly seventy years ago, but who has the faulty memory about events happening today. Sen. McCain sponsored the amnesty bill and now wants to build the ‘danged fence’; he voted against the tax cuts of 2001 and 2003 and now says they should be extended; and he wrote the ‘Cap and Trade’ Bill in the last Congress and now does not even acknowledge it.
“John McCain needs to drag his campaign out of the mud, stand up before the voters, and debate Congressman Hayworth and let the people decide.”
Here is the next interview in a series of candidate interviews conducted by Grass Roots Interviews. Your host is Marcus Kelley interviewing Sam Crump who is running for Congress in CD-3.
