Beauchamp First to File in CD1

This came in on Monday from the Bradley Beauchamp for Congress campaign:

The Beauchamp for Congress campaign is pleased to tell you that Bradley is the first candidate from CD-1 to qualify for the ballot. We want to thank everyone for their signatures and the great teams that we have around the district for your hard work. We still have a long way to go to earn back CD-1, but this is a solid first step.

In other campaign news, we are very proud to announce the endorsement of Yavapai County Sheriff, Steve Waugh.

“I support Bradley Beauchamp for Congress because I share in his Conservative ideals and he understands our needs in CD 1.  He is the only Republican Candidate who has the energy and the work ethic to win the CD 1 race in November.  I know he will be an ally of law enforcement in Congress and a champion for the people of Arizona. I endorse Bradley Beauchamp for Congress and you should too”. – Steve Waugh, Sheriff of Yavapai County, AZ.

This adds to the growing list of endorsements from across the district. Bradley has more endorsements than the other candidates combined and each comes from those who LEAD, WORK, and LIVE in our district. Please go to our website at to see those that have gotten behind the Beauchamp for Congress campaign.

This week Bradley will be at the Verde Valley County Fair in Cottonwood, he would enjoy the opportunity of speaking to you and listening to your concerns for CD-1. The time is here to get out and show your support and we look forward to seeing you on the campaign trail.

I encourage you visit our website at to see all of our upcoming events and volunteer to be a part of the campaign.

Will John McCain Return to His Mavericky Roots?

With each passing day since the signing of SB 1070; with each public denouncement by a Republican ally; with each pro-amnesty interest group parting ways with our senior senator, I have to wonder if John McCain is on the verge of a political implosion as he tries to reconcile what he truly believes against where he needs to position himself to get re-elected. The last few months have seen a repackaged “more conservative” John McCain who conservatives won’t trust and liberals no longer respect. It has become pretty obvious that the John McCain we once knew has been taken over by political desperation and cognitive dissonance.

Even Lindsey Graham, one of John McCain’s closest confidants, must be scratching his head wondering, “Where are you, what are you doing John?” Graham publicly parted ways with McCain when recently announced that he believes Arizona’s tough immigration law is “unconstitutional.”

Somos Republicanos, who absolutely adores Senator McCain, must be torn over McCain’s comments supporting and promoting the new law. Their recent website post, “Arizona Hispanic Republicans React To SB 1070 And We View It As An Attack Against Our Civil Rights” puts them in a difficult position of supporting a man who has abandoned their principles.

And now the debate over the law – which has spread beyond the borders of Arizona – must be tearing John McCain’s political soul in two. The question is how much more can he take it? With August 24th only116 days away, can the former “Maverick” hold out long enough to win the primary before recanting his support of the law on August 25th?

Perhaps there is another way John McCain may “return to his ‘mavericky’ roots” and put an end to the torment of his political soul.

The answer could be found in Florida where Governor Charlie Crist is about to announce his departure from the Republican party and bid for the US Senate as an “Independent.” It’s been done before. John McCain’s close friend Joe Lieberman managed to pull it off in 2006 when he failed to win the Democratic primary nomination and himself went “maverick.” And John McCain is certainly one to pull off political surprises.

A quick visit to the Secretary of State’s website shows that John McCain has yet to file signatures with Ken Bennett’s office, as a Republican. His campaign has been circulating petitions since the summer of 2009 which means the campaign must have acquired more than enough to qualify for the ballot.

So John McCain has to ask himself, does he feel lucky? Lucky enough to bolt the Republican party and run as an independent candidate where he can take off the conservative mask and act like the “maverick” he once was?

The answer may come in the days ahead.

Andrew Thomas Gains Endorsement Of Mohave County Attorney Matthew Smith

PHOENIX, AZ. April 27, 2010: Tough on crime Arizona Attorney General candidate Andrew Thomas is pulling in more key endorsements every day.  Mohave County Attorney Matthew Smith has formally endorsed Andrew Thomas in the race for Arizona Attorney General.
“Andrew’s policies helped reduce crime and illegal immigration in Maricopa County.  We need those same results on a state level,” Smith said.
Smith is known for his own tough on crime policies in Mohave County, focusing on forceful prosecutions of the death penalty and child molestation cases.
Thomas enjoys the endorsements of Mohave County Sheriff Tom Sheahan, Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu, Cochise County Sheriff Larry Dever and Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio.  He has also been endorsed by Arizona Right to Life.
During Thomas’ time in office, crime rates plummeted.  The 19 percent drop is more than twice the national rate of decline, in despite of an 11 percent increase in the county’s population during that time.  The illegal immigrant population has dropped by anywhere from 18 percent (Dept. of Homeland Security estimate) to 30 percent (Center for Immigration Studies estimate). Like the fall in crime rates, this dramatic decline in illegal immigration is far greater than the average in the rest of the nation.
Thomas has a track record of successfully defending illegal immigration crackdowns in our courts, including his successful efforts to prosecute illegal immigrants for conspiring to violate the state’s human-smuggling law and to defend Prop 200’s voter ID requirements and the employer-sanctions law, which he defended along with the Attorney General’s Office.
If elected Attorney General Thomas has pledged to expand that office’s prosecutions of illegal immigrants under the state’s human smuggling laws. The office is not currently pursuing such prosecutions.
Thomas is married with four children.  He is a graduate of Harvard Law School.  Prior to serving as Maricopa County Attorney, Thomas served as an assistant attorney general for Arizona, deputy counsel and criminal justice policy advisor to the Governor, special assistant to the Director of the Arizona Department of Corrections, and a deputy county attorney.

Obama spreads hysteria and misinformation on SB 1070

It’s no wonder the media and a lot of people around the country can’t get the facts right on SB 1070 when the commander-in-chief is busy misleading people on the law.  Here’s what he said in Iowa yesterday:

“You can imagine if you are an Hispanic American in Arizona, your great grandparents may have been there before Arizona was even a state, but now suddenly if you don’t have your papers, and you took your kid out to get ice cream, you’re gonna be harassed.”

We know there are a lot of Hispanic readers of SA.  Please, bring forward your stories about being harassed while on your way to Baskin Robbins!

CD-3’s Pamela Gorman Launches Mother’s Day Money Bomb!

As one of the leading conservative voices in Arizona, Pamela Gorman has been a consistent supporter and proponent of key principles of limited government, lower taxes, and personal freedom.

Her years in the Arizona Senate, and prior years in the Arizona House of Representatives, are marked with constant and unbending commitment to conservative policy. She worked to pass one of the largest tax cuts to Arizona families, while standing against even her own party to defeat the largest tax increase in Arizona history. Pamela has led efforts to cut wasteful spending by both parties and has been an outspoken opponent of pork barrel spending in the state budgets.

While many were satisfied to simply “get out a budget”, Senator Gorman was pushing hard for real reforms in the way state government does business. She insisted on greater transparency and regular audits of the state agencies that spend your hard-earned tax dollars. Pamela’s goals were to force the state to operate within its means, and to run efficiently with full accountability to its shareholders, who are the Arizona taxpayers.

She also has a proven conservative record of not just supporting, but leading on important social issues of traditional values, 2nd amendment rights, and the sanctity of life. Pamela Gorman is committed to doing what is right, not what is easy. She has been steadfast throughout her political career in standing for the principles and values we share and will continue to do so when elected to the U.S. House of Representatives.

Pamela is a firm believer that parenting is both a privilege and an important responsibility and that parents must have their rights protected from government encroachment. She and her 14-year-old son, Ryan, live in Anthem and attend Calvary Community Church.

Martin challenges Mills’ incoherent border security plan

Once again, Buz Mills does not seem to have a grasp of the issues.  At today’s candidate forum, Martin went after Buz Mills on his continuing flip-flopping on the issues.  Today it was border security.

Ranchers Beware! – Email Prompts Attention

This morning I received an alarming email that has been making the rounds over the last few days. As a skeptic of viral emails, I’m going to “air” this on Sonoran Alliance because I believe we have enough readers and authorities who know more details about the situation. As the controversy escalates over SB 1070, I have to caution how much fact is part of this email and how much may be an attempt to escalate even further. Perhaps our readers can help qualify and clarify fact from fiction. Here is the email:

I received this e-mail from a friend and fellow resident of Santa Cruz County. He is trustworthy and honest.  I believe the content to be true. It gives me great cause for concern.  I have sent a copy of this to Senator Kyl’s office and Senator McCain. Unfortunately McCain must be contacted through a mail “form” and it’s questionable if anyone will read it.

Forwarded to me by a friend who recently retired from border patrol………

As you know, one of the local ranchers was murdered in Douglas two weeks ago. His funeral is tomorrow. I received three messages similar to the one below from different officers within the Rangers and law enforcement.

Yesterday afternoon I talked to another rancher near us who is a friend of ours and whose great grandfather started their ranch here in 1880.  These are good people.

He told me what really happened out at the Krentz ranch and what you won’t read in the papers.  The Border Patrol is afraid of starting a small war between civilians here and the drug cartels in Mexico.

Bob Krentz was checking his water like he does every evening and came upon an illegal who was lying on the ground telling him he was sick.  Bob called the Border Patrol and asked for a medical helicopter evac.  As he turned to go back to his ATV he was shot in the side.  The round came from down and angled up so they know the shooter was on the ground. Bob’s firearm was in the ATV so he had no chance.

Wounded he called the Cochise County Sherriff and asked for help.  Bleeding in the lungs he called his brother but the line was bad so he called his wife but again the line was bad.  Several ranchers heard the radio call and drove to his location. Bob was dead by this time.  The ranchers tracked the shooter 8 miles back towards Mexico and cornered him in a brushy draw.  This was all at night. The Sherriff and Border Patrol arrived and told them not to go down and engage the murderer.  They went around to the back side and if you can believe it the assassin managed to get by a BP helicopter and a Sherriff’s posse and back to Mexico.  So much for professional help when you need it.

One week before the murder Bob and his brother Phil (who I shoot with) hauled a huge quantity of drugs off the ranch that they found in trucks.

One week before that a rancher near Naco did the same thing. Two nights later gangs broke into his ranch house and beat him and his wife and told them that if they touched any drugs they found they would come back and kill them.  The ranchers here deal with cut fences and haul drug deliveries off their ranches all the time. What ranchers think is that the drug cartels beat the one rancher and shot Bob because they wanted to send a message.  Bob always gave food and water to illegals and so they think they sent the assassin to pose as an illegal who was hungry and thirsty knowing it would catch Bob off guard.

What is going on down here is NOT being reported.  You need to tell people how bad it is along the border.  Texas is worse.  Near El Paso it’s in a state of war.  5000 people were killed in Ciudad Juarez last year and it’s over 2000 so far this year.  Gun sales down here are through the roof and I get emails from people wanting firearms training.

Something has to be done but I don’t hold out much hope. These gangs have groups in almost every city in the US.  Please read below. This is serious business. The Barrio Azteca and their sub gangs are like Mexican Corporations and organized extremely well.  If this doesn’t get dealt with down here you guys will deal with it on your streets.
