Buz Mills opposes Employer Sanctions LAW

Everyone should know that at the Arizona Farm Bureau Governor’s Forum, candidates were given the questions weeks in advance. Buzz Mills was actually reading his answers.
See for yourself.

This isn’t about a candidate misspeaking, this is about a candidate kissing up to the Farm Bureau members. But trust me, everyone knows better and you can too by watching the video.

We still know nothing about Buzz Mills, hopefully we will be finding out alot real soon.

Here is today’s yellow sheets with Mill’s spin-meister attempting to pull the wool over the voter’s eyes.

MILLS ‘MISSPOKE’ ON EMPLOYER SANCTIONS
ARTICLE POSTED 4.22.2010 | 4:05 PM

At a recent GOP gubernatorial candidate forum, Mills told the Arizona
Farm Bureau why he didn’t like employer sanctions. “I’m not your guy
for employer sanctions,” Mills told the crowd on April 8. “That is a
failure on the part of the feds that has made you the policeman. We
need a different system.” Despite his apparent distaste for employer
sanctions, campaign manager Camilla Strongin, said Mills supports the
legislation and simply misspoke at the candidate forum. “If you spent
as many days giving speeches, unfortunately sometimes you get your
words mixed up,” she said. Strongin said Mills didn’t change his
stance on employer sanctions because of the crowd he was speaking to,
and said his comments were meant to criticize federal inaction on
illegal immigration. “If the federal government was doing their job,
then it would take the pressure off business owners,” she said.

Who’s right on jobs and Proposition 100

by Byron Schlomach, Ph.D.
Goldwater Institute

Proposition 100 supporters are touting estimates from economists at the University of Arizona and Arizona State University. They claim an 18 percent increase in the state’s sales tax would cost fewer jobs than the number of jobs that otherwise may be lost due to reductions in the government spending.

Let’s think about this. If the state economists are right, it means the more we tax and let government spend, the more jobs we’ll have. Well, let me get on that bandwagon! Let’s not stop at an 18 percent tax hike; let’s double the tax rate and government spending along with it. We’d get a whole lot more economic growth.

The absurdity of this tortured economic reasoning, based on a popular Depression-era theory, can be illustrated by looking at a photo of earth taken at night. If the state economists were right, North Korea would be more than a big, dark blot. North Korea and Cuba would outshine the world with their prosperity.

Last year the Goldwater Institute asked the independent Beacon Hill Institute at Suffolk University to estimate the economic impact if the state raised the sales tax. They found the state will lose 14,000 private sector jobs.

So which should you believe, the models of the university economists or the Beacon Hill model?

Beacon Hill’s model is consistent with real world evidence, like North Korea and Cuba. New research based on real-world experience in the United States by eminent Harvard University economist Robert Barro indicates that reducing government spending does not hurt the economy but tax increases do. Current research highlighted by the San Francisco Federal Reserve Bank comes to a similar conclusion.

Arizonans have a choice. They can choose to believe Beacon Hill’s economic estimates, which is consistent with real world evidence, or they can choose to believe a prediction based on a theory that evidence contradicts. Modern empirical results make it clear that a tax increase will damage our economic growth.

Arpaio Campaign Releases Statement on CD5 Endorsement
Wishes to Clear Up Rumors Circulating Among Republican Activists

SCOTTSDALE, AZ – The Re-Elect Joe Arpaio 2012 campaign released the following statement today regarding the Republican nomination contest in Arizona’s Congressional District 5:

“Despite rumors and innuendo to the contrary, Sheriff Joe Arpaio has made no endorsement in this year’s race. Some candidates, activists and bloggers have been making misleading comments and statements lately and he wishes to assure grassroots Republicans that he is remaining neutral,” said Chad Willems, Arpaio’s campaign manager.

Sheriff Arpaio hopes that those who are spreading these rumors would cease and desist. Further, Arpaio urges the Republican candidates and activists to avoid any in-fighting this year and work towards beating Democrat Harry Mitchell in November.

AZ Anti-Illegal Immigration Leader Andrew Thomas Encourages Governor Brewer to Sign Controversial Senate Bill 1070

Former Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas Encourages Governor Brewer to Sign Senate Bill 1070

PHOENIX, ARIZONA APRIL 21, 2010.  He put “Stop Illegal Immigration” on campaign signs in 2004.  And he’s waged a successful fight against illegal immigration ever since.  Now, former Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas is encouraging Governor Jan Brewer to sign Senate Bill 1070.
Thomas is currently campaigning for Arizona Attorney General.
While in office Thomas supported and advised the legislature about the legislation.
“This law would give state and local law enforcement officials important new tools for the fight against illegal immigration.  I strongly support its passage and look forward to defending the law in court next year should I be elected Attorney General,” Thomas said.
During Thomas’ time in office, crime rates have plummeted.  The 19 percent drop is more than twice the national rate of decline, and in despite of an 11 percent increase in the county’s population during that time.  The illegal immigrant population has dropped by anywhere from 18 percent (Dept. of Homeland Security estimate) to 30 percent (Center for Immigration Studies estimate).  Like the fall in crime rates, this dramatic decline in illegal immigration is far greater than the average in the rest of the nation.
Thomas’ office successfully prosecuted the Baseline Killer and Serial Shooting suspects.  During his tenure he has pushed for harsher penalties against child predators and, more recently, launched an innovative program to restore Gila River habitat and pursue charges against environmental pollution there.  He is in favor of the death penalty and has been criticized by defense lawyers for his tough plea bargain policies.  He has tackled tough public corruption cases and led innovative programs to ensure better food safety and crack down on graffiti and cruelty to animals.
Thomas is married with four children.  He is a graduate of Harvard Law School.  Prior to serving as Maricopa County Attorney, Thomas served as an assistant attorney general for Arizona, deputy counsel and criminal justice policy advisor to the Governor, special assistant to the Director of the Arizona Department of Corrections, and a deputy county attorney.
