It’s come to light that Eric Ulis, self-appointed “Rock Solid Conservative” (yes folks that’s what his website states), has a political past with the Democratic Party.
Not just with any democratic party, but the liberal parties of Washington State and California.
In 1996, Eric Ulis was the Democratic Nominee, in the 30th District. I’m guessing you would have to be pretty liberal to skate through a democratic primary in Washington State.
Ulis also ran for the California State Assembly in 2002, just a mere 8 years ago. There too, Ulis was the Democratic nominee, running against Republicans on November 5, 2002.
I guess we don’t “vet” our Republicans anymore. I hope the Republicans in LD 8 will take the initiative and look a little deeper.

Local politicians go on to be national politicians, just remember Janet Napolitano. Voters need to be on guard as individuals, organizations can be painfully neglectful. ACORN is crippled and Democrats are desperate. They are saturating mid-term elections in red and purple districts with their picks. California liberals are targeting Scottsdale as a whole.
Mr. Ulis appears to have a unnotable background with the Democratic Party. It is _possible_ for people to recognize they have had been involved with the wrong group and turn over a new leaf.
On the other side I would say that his failure to state that he supports the right of Arizonans to keep and bear arms is certainly an oversight… perhaps his webmaster forgot.
Ulis also has a background as a deadbeat dad!
It looks like Mr. Ulis has some “spaining” to do. Sacramento Bea, if you are right you can bet the Sheriff Joe is going to want to know about this.
How would that look if our candidate for the legislature was hauled off to tent city and forced to wear pink underwear.
Maybe this was the issue that torpedoed his previous campaigns for the California and Washington legislatures. Democrats probably don’t like deadbeat dads any better than us Republicans do.
Is there someone on Sonoran Alliance who knows how you find out about something like this is true?
If true,Mr. Ulis should have a pretty good excuse why he didn’t pay.
I happen to know from doing my web research that when Eric Ulis was a candidate for the Citrus Heights City Council he listed on his California League of Women Voters Profile that he had been endorsed by: State Senator Rico Oller
As a California State Senator, Oller voted AGAINST cock & DOG fighting When Rico Oller made a bid for a congressional seat, Humane USA stopped him in his tracks by letting the public know that Rico Oller opposed a ban on cock fighting and dog fighting. He opposed a bill to help protect puppies bred in puppy mills. He opposed adding a bitterning agent to anti freeze that would spare children and pets from accidental poisoning and he opposed mandatory reporting of animal abuse.
What kind of person has friends like that? If you were running for office would you like someone like that as being one of your Key Supporters or that you had been endorsed by them?
Records and documents regarding the unpaid child support to Eric Ulis’s ex-wife and mother of his first two kids can be found in Utah.
Ah-Ha —This explains why Google lists 13 addresses for Eric in a 14 year period. He was running from his wife and creditors maybe? Addresses don’t list his name as phone owner? Why does Eric move every 13 months? Did he live in these houses –or were they drop houses and guise of his affairs? LD8 is in need of an investigator. The deeper you troll Google, this candidate goes from bazarre to scary. And He is to be our legislator to manage tens of millions of our tax dollars?
Did he really think he could change parties & and move to a different state and not have his past come back to haunt him?
Sacramento Bea – Too bad we don’t have the name of the Ex-Wife.
I honestly don’t think I have ever heard of anyone who has had 13 addresses in a 14 year period. It is spooky!
Mr. Ulis has “ZERO PERCENT” chance of defeating a Democratic opponent. It will take little digging on their part to thoroughly decimate his candidacy. Hopefully, Mr. Ulis will bow out gracefully before his family (the names of his kids have already been mentioned in another forum) and other areas of his life and history are given a thorough examination.
What is wrong with the Republican Party. Aren’t they vetting their candidates any more? Mark my words if we aren’t careful we will end up with a Democrat representative here in Scottsdale. There are other candidates who are running: John Cavanaugh, Penny Peddlepusher, Michelle Ugentey, Michael Blaire and a doctor. All would be better.
Mr. Ulis needs to man up and come clean on his record.
Are these posts TRUE or FALSE?
Do you have any kind of criminal record? Have you ever been charged with a crime or been you ever been a defendant in a court case?
Mr. Ulis you just can’t waltz into the Valley of the Sun and wipe the slate clean. The voters have a right to know just who we are voting for.
And someone needs to ask Michelle Reagan just why she is supporting this guy? What does she know about him that we don’t? Or is it a case where our Senator got swept up by his good luck and charm and didn’t do her homework before jumping in feet first with this carpetbagging opportunist from Utah, Washington and California
You crazy old man – It’s Paula Pennypacker not Penny Peddlepusher! And if I remember right Kavanagh is spelled with a “K and no “u”".
However, Elmer does make some good points. We really know next to nothing about Eric. I’m not sure that he has ever lifted a finger to help out on a local Republican political campaign. Back home, you had to carry a little water to the elephant before you were ever thought to be “candidate” material.
And the more I think of it, I don’t think I have ever heard of someone being a stockbroker without having a college degree. I’m wondering when Eric says he attended ASU and the U of Utah was he a few credits shy of graduating or did he attend a football game?
Mr. Ulis has primarily survived by (1)sponging off of and acquiring loans from female love interests, spouses & family;(2)playing cards in casinos; (3)not repaying creditors, landlords, friends and anyone else he could get a loan from; (4)and from probably not paying any taxes on hundred-of-thousands in casino blackjack winnings. And yes, he is a deadbeat daddy!
He attended the University of Utah less than a year, about the same amount of time he spent as a broker trainee and as a radio host. Not sure how much time he spent at ASU? My guess is less than a year.
The funny thing about Mr. Ulis is that he is probably sincere in his political beliefs.
I am not going to address anything that was just said other than to say I strongly disagree with Sacramento Bea’s last line that “Mr. Ulis is probably sincere in his political beliefs”.
How “sincere” is a candidate who tells the Washington and California public employee and labor unions what they want to hear to get their endorsements in 1996 and 2002 and then turns around and tells the Arizona Chamber of Commerce what they want to hear in 2010.
Help me out here, Eric.
I am trying to wrap my arms around this and just can’t see how this is possible to swing both ways.
Over the years I’ve observed and worked for lots of Republican candidates and public office holders. And yes, there were a number of candidates who talked out of both sides of their mouth. While it may have worked for a while, ultimately they got caught and their words finally caught up with them.
In all instances those candidates and office holders were either rejected by the voters on their first go around or were voted out of office once their true colors became apparent.
Obviously no one on the Chamber’s screening committee thought this one through far enough to connect the dots and ask the hard questions.
How was it possible that Mr. Ulis was able to receive both union and management (Arizona Chamber of Commerce) endorsements? How do you promise to raise taxes on one hand and cut them on the other?
Perhaps someone from the Chamber of Commerce or Mr. Ulis will shed some light on this disconnect.
Or maybe Eric’s palms were so greased up by the Chamber lobbyists that he was willing to promise them anything to get their endorsement.
Another case of “SHOW ME THE MONEY!”
I voted for Obama and I am glad I did. Bush was the worst president this country ever had.
But Michelle Ugenti makes a lot of sense to me. She’s go my vote!
Bea – Voting for Obama and now voting for Ugenti makes about as much sense as Eric Ulis getting labor and Chamber endorsements or his saying he voted for Reagan and then turning around and running for the Washington State legislature as a Democrat.
Why Ugenti? Please tell us why she is better than Pharmacist Blaire, Dr. Mahoubi, businesswoman/columnist Pennypacker or our current Representative from Fountain Hills? She is attractive, but tell me what she has ever done? What we don’t need is Michelle Reagan Lite. All of the other four clearly stand out in my mind as quality, well-rounded, with years of experience that Michelle Ugenti lacks.
I attended Ugenti’s Tea Party rally and I enjoyed her thoughts on illegal immigration.
I had wanted to go to the Clean Elections debate tonight and hear the District 8 candidates but I had a conflict. Someone told me that Blair, Ulis and Mahouby would not be attending. Did anyone go to the debate? I’m curious how Michelle, Paula and Rep Kavanagh did? Waiting with baited breath.
Google shows Eric with criminal record in each of 4 states he has lived in.He has been defendant in at least 9 court actions. It is my understanding that the T-Party has hired detective firm to get court records and—interview the plaintifs. Chamber of Commerce may end up endorsing a criminal with a gambling background…this could hit National news. Detective firm is also going to “Follow The Money”as his 6 years in gambling arena is bound to draw out other names in this bazarre candidacy.
I knew it, I knew it. I said there was something slick about this guy from the first time I laid eyes on him at our District 8 meeting.
That probably is why the guy has had 13 addresses in a 14 year period.
Didn’t Michelle Reagan check this guy out before she started palling around with him.
RedBear – Are you at liberty to say what the court actions are for? How are to going to get this out to the media?
I won’t be back in town for a couple of months but i check my email and The Sonoran Alliance Blog frequently.
Nordine, Google lists dates of court activity and docket numbers. The transcripts of court activity are public -but require fees /etc.—so hopefully investigator will have a stack of testimony to make public.
During Wednesday night’s debate, Michelle Ugenti really took the iniative and displayed why she could be a great leader. In my opinion she presents herself better than any of the other District 8 house candidates. It was a great forum for her and I wish you all could have been there.
Bea – Are you sure you aren’t Michelle’s mom? :>) You must have been at a different debate. I thought Michelle was a little flat or distracted and was just repeating rehearsed worn out talking points. (Probably left ovr from one of Collette’s campaigns) Or maybe she was off her game because her kids were screaming in the background. I hope they have rules in the House of Representatives to prevent legislators from bringing their kids.
Those are lovely kids and very well behaved. You are making a mountain out of a moe hill.
I guess I’m just old fashioned and think there are some things it is best not to take your kids to. Two hours is a long time for kinds under five to sit through without them getting fussy. Heck by the end of a two hour debate I was getting a little fussy.
I just wish Mr. Ulis and Dr. Mahoubi were there and that someone from the press cared enough to give this race some coverage.
How do you think the court cases Red Bear has raised should be addressed. Without any more public forums or district 8 meetings, Ulis could skate to victory by outspending the other candidates. Maybe the doctor will be able to compete dollar for dollar, the Clean Election candidates sure will not be able to do so.
Those of you who wondered why CPCtv,Eric Ulis’prime source of income disappeared off radar screen and went “dark” on internet, you might want to check out UIGEA site which describes rules for internet poker gambling.Rules require financial disclosure etc. Rules took effect on June 1st and most gamblers took their and other peoples money out as it would require disclosure to Treasury Dept.Eric who is CEO shut operation down one day before rules kicked in. Maybe AZ. attorney Gen.might want to look into violations. Senator Kyl sponsored bill (UIGEA)
