CELEBRATE THE SECOND AMENDMENT WITH VERNON PARKER
Congressional Candidate to Host Concealed Carry Course Fundraiser
On Saturday, February 20th, congressional candidate Vernon Parker will host a concealed weapon carry course taught by expert instructor Jim Neff of Generation Firearms. Parker is a staunch supporter of the Second Amendment, and will be earning his own concealed carry permit at the event. Neff is a highly regarded firearms training expert, and the course will be limited to 30 individuals. The course will start at 7AM and runs 10 hours. The cost is $85. Contributions to Parker’s campaign for Arizona Congressional District 3 will be accepted.
BACKGROUND
Parker announced an exploratory committee for Governor on September 23rd and since then raised his seed money faster than Governor Brewer, generated endorsements and excitement across the state and was on track to qualify for Clean Elections funding next month.
However, since the surprising announcement by Congressman John Shadegg that he will not seek re-election, Parker has been called by dozens of supporters and state leaders encouraging him to consider a run for the Congressional District Three Republican nomination.
Paradise Valley lies in the heart of the district, where just two years ago Parker garnered a record number of votes in his initial run for office.
Parker, 50, is the current mayor of Paradise Valley, Arizona. He previously served as General Counsel of the United States Office of Personnel Management, then in the White House as Special Assistant to President George H.W. Bush. Later, Parker was nominated by President George W. Bush and unanimously confirmed with bipartisan support by the United States Senate, as an Assistant Secretary at the United States Department of Agriculture. A small businessman, Parker also served as a pastor for two years at a small non-denominational church in Paradise Valley. He is a graduate of Georgetown Law School in Washington, D.C., where he met his wife Lisa.
Parker’s life story is compelling. Raised by his grandmother in a severely underprivileged neighborhood in Long Beach, California, Parker was able to escape the drugs and violence through love, education and the commitment of family.

Why is Vernon just getting his CCW now if he is such a big 2nd Amendment guy?
Its only an 8 hour one day course. Does he not have enough time? Or is this just some OBVIOUS PANDERING.
I am sick of this guy already, all he does is pander with gimmicks. He does gimmick press releases with the attacking planned parenthood and now this.
Let it go Vernon.

I would guess, Johnny, that he doesn’t have his CCW yet because *we live in an open carry state*. I am also a big supporter of the 2nd Amendment, and I am a gun owner. I am able to openly carry my gun almost anywhere I go in the state.
I intend to take a CCW course soon, perhaps this one, because I feel I could stand to learn more about the weapons I own and the changing gun laws – as well as having even more options for where I when I take my gun.

Four minutes – it took you all of four minutes to read this post, formulate your snark, and post a comment, johnny. Are you being paid for this? You clearly dislike Vernon Parker – I suspect you’d have snarky comments if he were running for dogcatcher. Is it just possible that Vernon truly IS a 2nd amendment supporter and plans on acting that way in Congress? Who’s YOUR guy in the CD3 race, johnny? You have lots of scorn for Vernon, but no clearly defined alternative. Who is a better candidate than Vernon, and why so?

I honestly do not have a candidate I like in CD-3 currently. I feel like Vernon is an opportunist phony. He saw he had no chance at governor and was like hey well why not lets run for Congress. Whats the difference right? Its just elected office of some kind.
Jim waring not that impressive to me and who else is even in it on the GOP side?

If Parker is pandering then I say Arizona needs a LOT more of it. There are far too many elected officials (e.g. more than zero) who would tax, harass and arrest people who do nothing more than protect themselves with a firearm.

Ok … Here’s a question: How many firearms does Vernon own and how long has he owned?
I’d like to see Vernon address his thoughts on SB1098 and HB2302. Has he made a commitment to signing Constitutional Carry when it gets to the governor’s desk? Both John Munger and Dean Martin have committed to signing it.

He’s from California, growing up in the 60s and early 70s when Long Beach didn’t have a “drug and violence” problem in those days, I was stationed there back then. I’d bet he’s really from Carson. Long Beach was strictly blue collar working middle class. Nice story but I’m not buying it.
He’s lived in the Washington Beltway before moving here. And since Bush left office in 2008, and Parker’s been mayor for two years, how long has he really lived in Arizona?
Conclusion? This is a gun stunt to appeal to the RTKBA community and guess what, they’re a lot smarter and won’t fall for this stunt.
If you’re 2A you walk the walk – Sounds like Vernon is a poser on this one.

Veritas, you have zero evidence that Vernon is lying about being brought up in an underprivileged background, yet you insist on smearing him. What is your real problem with him, since that is clearly a red herring? When you say rude, absurd things like that, it discredits the rest of your posts on this website and makes conservatives look bad.
