By now, many of you have heard about the letter that went viral that was written by fellow Arizonan, Janet Contreras. Yesterday, Glenn Beck read her letter on the air. The public response to her letter ultimately crashed the servers at Glenn’s site. In order to help Janet’s letter get national exposure we are posting it here. Incidentally, Janet was interviewed this afternoon by Glenn from the Phoenix Fox 10 studios.
An Open Letter to Our Nation’s Leadership
I am Janet Contreras, a concerned, home-grown American citizen. I am 53, and I have been a registered Democrat all of my adult life. Before the last Presidential election, I registered Republican because I no longer feel the Democratic Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me. I now no longer feel the Republican Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me. The fact is I no longer feel any political party or representative in Washington represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me.
There must be someone, please tell me who you are. Please stand up and tell me you are there and are willing to fight for our Constitution as it was written. Please do it now.
You might ask yourselves what my views and issues are that I would feel so horribly disenfranchised by both major political parties. What kind of nut job am I? Will you please tell me? These are briefly my views and issues for which I seek representation:
* Illegal Immigration-I want you to stop coddling illegal immigrants and secure our borders. Close the underground tunnels. Stop the violence and trafficking in drugs and people. No amnesty, not again. Been there, done that, no resolution. P.S. I am not a racist. This not to be confused with legal immigration.
* TARP Bill-I want it repealed and no further funding supplied to it. We told you “NO!” but you did it anyway. I want the remaining unfunded 95% repealed. Freeze! Repeal!
* Czars-I want the circumvention of our checks and balances stopped immediately. Fire the Czars. No more Czars. Government officials answer to the process not the President. Stop trampling on our Constitution and honor it.
* Cap & Trade-the debate on global warming is NOT over, there IS more to say.
* Universal Health Care-I will not be rushed into another expensive decision. Don’t you dare pass this in the middle of the night and then go on break. Slow down!
* Growing Government Control-I want states rights and sovereignty fully restored. I want less government in my life, not more. Shrink it down. Please mind your own business; you have enough to do with your REAL obligations. Let’s start there.
* ACORN-I do not want ACORN or its affiliates in charge of our 2010 census. I want them investigated. I also do not want mandatory escrow fees contributed to them on every real estate deal that closes. Stop all funding to ACORN and its affiliates pending impartial audit and investigation. I do not trust them with the taking of the census or with taxpayer money. Face up to the allegations against them and get it resolved before the taxpayers get any further involved with them. It walks like a duck and talks like a duck-hello… stop protecting political buddies. You work for the people. Investigate.
* Redistribution of Wealth-No. If I work for it, it is mine. I have always worked for people with more money than I have because they gave me jobs. That is the only redistribution of wealth I support. I never got a job from a poor person. Why do want me to hate my employers? What do your have against shareholders making a profit?
* Charitable Contributions-although I never got a job from a poor person, I have helped many in need. Charity belongs in our local communities where we know our needs best and can use local talent and resources. Butt out, please. We want to do this ourselves.
* Corporate Bail Outs-knock it off! Sink or swim like the rest of us. If there are hard times ahead, we will be better off just getting to it and letting the strong survive. Quick and painful, like ripping off a band aid. We will pull together. Great things happen in America under great hardship. Give us a chance to innovate. We cannot disappoint you more than you have disappointed us.
* Transparency and Accountability-how about it? No really, let’s have it. Let’s say we give the “buzz” words a rest and have some straight, honest talk. Please stop trying to manipulate and appease me with cleaver wording. I am not the idiot you obviously take me for. Stop sneaking around meeting in back rooms making deals with your friends. It will only be a prelude to your criminal investigation. Stop hiding things from me.
* Unprecedented Quick Spending-stop it, now. Take a breath. Listen to “The People.”
Let’s just slow down and get some more input from some “non-politicians” on the subject. Stop making everything an emergency. Stop speed reading our bills into law.
I am not an activist. I am not a community organizer. Nor am I a terrorist, a militant nor a violent person. I am a mother and grandmother. I am a working woman. I am busy, busy, busy and tired, tired, tired. I thought we elected competent people to take care of the business of government so that we could work, raise our families, pay our bills, have a little recreation, complain about taxes, endure our hardships, pursue our personal goals, cut our lawns and wash our cars on weekends, and be responsible, contributing members of society and teach our children to be the same, all the while living in the home of the free and land of the brave.
I entrusted you with upholding our Constitution and believed in the checks and balances to keep you from getting too far off course. What happened? You are very far off course. Do you really think that I find humor in hiring a speed reader to unintelligibly ramble through a bill you signed into law without knowing what it contained? I do not! It is a mockery of the responsibility I have entrusted to you. It is a slap in the face! I am not laughing-the arrogance!
Why is it that I feel as if you would not trust me to make a single decision about my own life and how I would live it, but you expect that I should trust you with the debt that you have laid on all of us and our children? We did not want that TARP bill. We said “NO!” We would repeal it if we could. I am not sure that we still cannot. There is such urgency and recklessness in all the recent spending. From my perspective, it seems that you have all gone insane.
I also know that I am far from alone in these feelings. Do you honestly feel that your current pursuits have merit to patriotic Americans? We want it to stop. We want to put the brakes on everything that is being rushed by us and forced upon us. We want our voice back!
You have forced us to put our lives on hold to straighten out the mess you are making. We will have to give up our vacations, our time spent with our children, any relaxation time we may have had and money we cannot afford to spend on you to bring our concerns to Washington.
- Janet Contreras

I think everyone here will agree with me when I say…
“Heavens Janet…you are a Republican. How on earth could be confused about that given all that you believe in?”
I agree with Janet when she says she is “busy, busy, busy and tired, tired, tired.” The life I live raising my kids is much harder than the one my parents lived raising me. And that’s not just the difference between a child’s vs. an adult’s perspective. My parents’ generation recognizes this fact too.
I am just throwing this out there but I sure hope Janet was a Democrat. She sounds way on target with all of our principles. kralmajales asks in regards to her past party affiliation, “How on earth could you be confused about that given all that you believe in?” I thought the same thing.. Either way welcome to the team.
Yup, she is a Republican. The fact that she doesn’t realize it should not just be blamed on others. She’s just outlined most of the GOP platform. I suppose because not every Republican elected official in the country follows the platform Janet is taking her toys and going home, but folks like Janet will never find happiness because she’ll never find 100%. Janet, if you can live with 98%, come on back to the GOP. If you can’t, better you go away and not be the whiner at every meeting.
It sounds like someone wants the world to be a much simpler place than it actually is.
Right on sister! You have your head on straight and you should run for office!! Ignore all the schlepps and their ignorance and keep on keepin on!
I agree with Ms. Contreras totally her views totally reflect those of mine and many of my associates. She feels betrayed by both the Democrat and the Republican parties. The only difference is the disguise that the use, both are dressed in wolf’s clothing.
What ever happened to integirty and self respect, neither party has any presently.
Our U. S. constitution is much more than words. The constitution is a divine leader and protection and it needs to be defended by the election of honest integeral people who lacking in our government at this time.
Sounds like she would fit perfectly here at Sonoran Alliance as a regular contributor.
Time for a new party! As Ross Perot put it we have a congress that is royalty. We have gone back to what we fought against in the Revolutionary War. Read up on George Washington and the Newburg Conspiracy!
What would happen if everyone who agrees with this would copy it and send to everyone of their congressmen?
I REALLY DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE COMPLAING ABOUT JANET, ALTHOUGH YOU ARE A VERY GOOD WRITER, THE CURRENT GOVERMENT IS JUST IN THE PROCESS OF CLEANING UP THE DISASTER OF THE PREVIOUS TWO TERMS OF REPUBLICAN BUFFOONS! HAD THERE BEEN GOVERNMENT REGULATION ON THE BANKING INDUSTRY, THE GREED AND CORRUPTION OF SAID INDUSTRY WOULD NOT HAVE TAKEN THE TOLL IT HAS, AND NOT DESTROYED SO MANY LIVES, AND COST SO MANY SO MUCH. SO GET OVER YOURSELF JANET, AND NEXT ELECTION VOTE FOR RALPH NADER.
After Obama,s people read this Janet, watch yourself?Totaly Balistic and defensive response will be on the way. What you wrote is exactly the way we feel[americans].Keep your head down for incoming….
If you don’t know what she is complaining about you must be a democrat with your head in obama’s lap,We will take back our hijacked country in the next election.AMEN
It is too bad that this is not the entire letter. Some of what was omitted was even better.
Typical… you have someone writing a heart felt message, and you have a response by Veronica blaming it all on Bush… Veronica.. what is going on in this country right now has NOTHING to do with Bush.. This is Obama’s mess now.. This debt being racked up is on him and him alone. Janet is right… NO ONE in washington listens to the people… And sadly… I don’t think anyone in Washington ever will… Veronica.. get over yourself..
I feel that Janet and alot of other Americans have reached the end of their rope, almost a decade or more ago with our government. I am not a Republican or a Democrat, I am an Independent, giving me the freedom to chose who I feel may serve us best. The Bush administration created so much HAVOC in our lives that any new President and his aides would be blamed for anything that goes wrong. Where was Janet’s letter during the Bush Administration…..To me, what is going on right now is “Every Man/Woman for themself. Our government has had mainly a one track mind, and that is “how will this serve me better” and lastly “how will this serve the people”. We the people always seem to come last (atleast until election time, that is the only time WE have a voice, not that it really matters). Our top CEO’s have gotten more and more greedy, when what they should have been doing is taking care of those that serve them. Without great servants, you end up serving yourself and you will fail because you have forgotten how to “work” as a team. Greed is an act of the Devil. I think that our Government needs to learn a few things from the American People, when we say we need to tighten our belts, we mean that. We can no longer afford the finer things that we were once used to and neither should our Government. We the People need to scream what we want, not talk amongst ourselves about it anymore, we need to be heard that our money is being TAKEN away from us and given to those that once had it all and now don’t. If you start a business and it fails, I am sorry, but it is and was not my fault so don’t take your aggression out on us, the people that helped you succeed once. Your greed is what caused you to fail, nothing more and nothing less. Our Banking System is way out of hand. Those of us who have credit cards used them, keeping the banks financed with them, and now, most people are contemplating either bankruptcy or just plain outright not paying them due to the way they have been allowed to run amuck with our fee’s and APR’s that have been skyrocketing. I don’t exactly see a break in the clouds in the next 10 years, so go for it people, if you can’t afford to get out of debt, don’t bother trying, so your credit will be damaged for 10 years, can you pay off your debt in that time??? Mortgage, credit cards, medical bills etc??? You won’t get a “bail out” check to help you. When large Corporations cry wolf for a bail out it is because their CEO’s want their big payouts and they can’t jusify firing 1000′s of hard working people to get it, so they ask for a bail out check and split it amongst themselves. I say the buck stops here, and we need to speak out about it one way or another.
Here we go again, it’s the republicans fault, no it’s the democrats fault. When is everyone going to wake up and realize the more they keep us arguing amongest each other, the less attention we pay to what they do behind our back. Both parties are like two kids in a sandbox. They get upset and start throwing sand at each other and the all the other kids in the sandbox with them (we taxpayers) get most of the sand in our eyes. Don’t be foolish the problems we have started decades ago. Some people are to blame more than others, but the all had a hand in knocking down the sand castle.
Yo Veronica,
Banking regulations….. You want MORE banking regulations…. We’re in the banking mess BECAUSE the politicans MADE the banks take on suspect home loans. Remember when Congress MANDATED that banks take on home loans WITHOUT the proper money trail and now YOU want more regulations from the same knuckleheads.
I only wish you would have mentioned the pesticide/herbicide industry and much needed EPA reform
Ornamental pond/lawn care and Dow/Monsanto and all the other complicit state agencies that regulate these businesses are doing more to harm our children than you’d care to know
Great letter. She must realize, though, that Obama needs to rush things through, destroy our economy, constitution, and freedom, before the cheering dies down and people realize what a threat he really is to America and what a mistake they made voting for race rather than for America. An inexperienced, left-wing radical does not make a good American President, regardless of his race.
Many in America think that they can live their lives the way that THEY want to, regardless of the consequences, regardless of responsibility and regardless of how it affects others. Now they have a president that feels the same way. It’s the Golden Rule. You receive what you give. Wake up.
Mishmash re parties. She is a CONSERVATIVE. The only use of a party is the power it wields in the primary process of SELECTING a candidate. Clearly the liberal side of both parties has had that ability, ergo our disgust with no choice. The latest poll on conservative/liberal, which is an annual event and NEVER changes very much, shows that the majority are conservatives regardless of party. And 22% of Dems consider themselves conservatives while only 3% of Repubs consider themselves liberal (and they are all in Congress and the East).
Invoke the 10th!
Republican… Democrat… It doesn’t matter what your platform is if the people on that platform DO NOT represent that actual will of the people, for the people. Quite trying to debate what party for which she may be rooting and get to the completely transparent message… Our government needs to get back to the business for which they were hired (elected or appointed). The government is supposed to represent and defend the legal United States of America citizen, not anyone else.
Oh, and before any of you start to pigeon hole my party… I’M INDEPENDENT and proud of it!
This is a good letter. What is wrong with wishing for a simpler time? I too, wish that our government was more responsible, you will note I said government and not the Replublicans or Democrats. There is a problem with our society who blame someones political party preference when they wish to share his or her views and opinions. Our constitution allows for free speach, does it not? I also believe that our government is rushing into save various companies without a thought as to what it will do to future generations. I believe that each presidency takes on many, many, years of prior abuse to our system, I do not believe it was just the previous term or president. Who was the last president to be able to say that the U.S. Government was debt free?
Maybe we all need to look at this letter with fresh eyes.
For all those responding that seem to be hung up on party affiliation…. You completely miss the point… that’s what’s got us into this mess to begin with…. Parties and Politicians be dammed… all of them…. Were Americans first.
It seems that most of you have missed the point of this letter entirely. The President and Congress are not interested in responding to the concerns of everyday Americans. “To the victor goes the spoils.” Political office is mostly used to advance ones future with little concern for much else. If it weren’t so, then why would seemingly educated and civil members of society attack each other with such villanous slander. Additionally, Veronica has eloquently pointed out the need for education reform as well. It’s not that she’s stupid she just knows so much about things that just aren’t true. The next best course of action would be for all Americans to agree that we need term limits for ALL elected officials. By limiting their time in office they will be forced to either answer to to people or be written in the history books as a waste of the peoples time and taxes. Furthermore, I strongly believe this would resuscitate the spirit of cooperation and compromise that helped to make ours the greatest nation in the world. The term greed can be applied to more than just money!
Where do I sign!!!!!!!!!!Will be waiting to hear.
I am with her 175% – this government has made a mockery of our once fine nation. Go Janet…
Wow, after reading many of your posts I am just amazed that you all think this is a wrong way of thinking. It is how the forefathers who founded our country felt. I agree, if I work for it, it is mine. Why should I share unless I choose to share, which I do.
I don’t see Obama sharing his millions, look at what he has given to tithes or charity in the last few years, very little compared to what he made from the sales of his books.
I openly admit I can’t stand Obama. I don’t like people who go to other countries and speak untruths against us, the people he leads. Comments of a pampered nation or we are not a Judeo Christian nation, etc… I stand behind Janet’s letter and feel compelled to say “you go sister”. And for those of you who don’t agree, to bad because as of right this moment, we still have free speech.
Do you not all realize the disability we have allowed here. California, New York , Illinois, all states that have more electorial votes than the middle of the country, are telling all of us how to live. We are helpless and we just keep on takin it. I don’t write my representives anymore, what can they do. Blanche Lambert Lincoln made an indepedent decision recently and the bully’s in the unions threatened her with no reelction. What do people like us matter when special interest groups get all the press. I would ask for help but who cares. As long as I work for the rest of my life and take off minimal amount of time, don’t make waves… that is what Washington wants me to do to be a citizen. Help Yes Janet Conteras wrote a beautiful letter but to what purpose.
I agree with Janet, I am watching for that ‘One’ to finally stand up and say, “enough is enough. Big government is NOT the answer!” The GOP has slipped almost to the point of being down there with the Democrats. If we can’t get our act together then I guess there is a need for a 3rd Party.
I too admit I do not like Obama, I thought Clinton was bad; but, at least he didn’t go around the world putting America down. For crying out loud, in spite of our mistakes there are many more successes and Americans, I believe are truly people who care about others and their rights and opportunitis. Obama can’t even speak up for those in Iran who put their lives on the line for freedom of vote…! I don’t know where to stop….so, best stop here! Go Janet and good for you, well spoken/written! mmw
It’s pretty simple. The folks on Capitol Hill and the White House are NOT doing what we want them to do. Americans do NOT want the TARP. Since Obama took office, the national debt has risen 1.8 TRILLION (see treasurydirect.gov to figure it out for youselves). Gee, who’s going to pay that off? Maybe your grandkids when they get taxed to death. Using laws ON THE BOOKS, deport illegals and stop spending our tax dollars to support them. Stop getting in the auto business. Remember Ronald Reagan’s nine words you do not want to hear: “I’m from the government and I’m here to help.” Stay out of the affairs that do not concern you. Run this country per the wishes of the people and not from some personal agenda. “We the people..”, not “I the president.” It has come to pass now that the people do not have a voice, period, in the goings on of our wonderful country. As Ms. Contreras mentioned, look at the idiots on the Hill, hiring a speed reader to fulfill the requirement that a bill must be read before a vote. Is this some kind of “open mike” night in Congress? Give me a break. Politics and personal agendas reign. When I raised my right hand (five times) and pledged to protect and possibly die for my country if need be, it wasn’t for these ideals that are now becoming the norm. The Constitution is the only document that holds any weight and our forefathers must be rolling in their graves about this time. Semper Fidelis, USMC (Ret.)
Veronica,
This letter is not about blaming one party. I can’t believe that anyone would read this and think that. Did the previous administration screw up? Of course they did, they started this while TARP and bail-out fiasco. But the currrent administration is just taking it to a new level. What does healthcare have to do with the economic troubles we are currently in? Nothing, just more redistribution of wealth and more government control. You want cheaper healthcare? How about tort reform and getting rid of the abuse of the current government run healthcare medicaid and medicare.
Veronica’s response shows exactly what is wrong with these current political times. It’s all about blaming the other side to get into power and to keep winning elections. Both sides buy votes, some are more up-front about it. They both fill spending bills with money to payback the people in their districts who helped them get elected.
This Congress and Administration are both out of control. Both sides of the aisle contributed to this mess. They have all lost all sense of reality. We need farmers, trash collectors, construction workers, and any other normal average citizens into the Congress. Enough of the lawyers and trust-fund babies in Washington D.C. We need some common-sense back. Get rid of the elitests, socialists, and progressives in both parties out of the beltway.
I could go on forever. It is so frustrating.
How anyone like Veronica can blame one party just amazes me.
After thinking about what I have read and what most of you wrote…we can all agree there is a problem, if there wasn’t we wouldn’t be having this discussion. We can’t forget that we are Americans, when we start describing ourselves as Republican or Democrat we start to lose sight of that fact. If you look back at history when great nations began dividing themselves is when they fell from power…So don’t look at this letter as left or right but as change for the people of the USA. I’m sure you can blame the economy on any president via cause and effect but the simple truth is you can only learn from your past, fix the present and prepare for the future. Personally I am not a an Obama fan, I think he was elected based on race and how historical the election was so everyone (black, white, brown, purple, and green) wanted to be a part of it. I feel that we should have a test you have to take to be competent enough about the issues, no matter race or gender, everyone should have to before they can vote and decide to put someone in office that can change our country the way a president can. I just hope that Washington is able to realize this and learn from what was, fix the now, and prepare the what’s coming…and for mine, your’s, and our children’s sake we better hope they do.
Janet, Just wanted to say God Bless you. If more Americans would stand up and voice their opinion as you have, then maybe we could start the movement that we need to get these yahoos out of office. That is the only way that we are going to get anything done, is by voting them out. Washington is never going to change on it’s own we will have to change it ourselves. Unfortunately we are stuck with this administration for the next four years but after that we the American people can take our country back. Hopefully it won”t be to late.
Hank has it right. Stop pointing the blame at one party or the othe, that’s what they want you to do, it takes your eye off the real problem. Don’t you understand they’re both in it together. It’s just that whomever is in power at the time swings a bigger hammer at the money trough. They just take turns at ripping off the tax payer.
Let’s do this instead: 20 million+ Republicans and 20 million Democrats drop your party afilliation and reigister independent. That would send a message that they will actually listen to. They all know we won’t do anything about them because we are all too busy with trying to keep our heads above water, which is exactly how they want it. This doesn’t take to much time or effort and it will have a huge impact.
DO IT!
Dear Janet Contreras,
You go girl. You speak for many more of us- than #2 the leftist-Michael, does.
We ARE the (silent majority)that keeps this country running. We ARE the (silent middleclass) that actually pays (all the taxes) that this government is feeding off of. We ARE the millions upon millions upon millions upon millions of good little Americans and Ex-Vets that has been so rudely awakened.
Now- that we know what they (the government) intends to do and is currently doing like- Bleeding us dry from massive BAILOUTS to FAILED mega companies, to have the FED intentionally de-value our dollar, to have our president- FIRE CEO’s from their own companies, to NOT sealing off our borders- like we VOTED for them to do. “We have woken up! and We are angry!”
Right now- We are doing the Polite Thing: like Tea Parties. We are doing the Polite Thing: by letting Washington know how UNHAPPY we are with their choices lately! We are doing the Polite Thing: like letting Washington know that we are sick and tired of their low down shenanigans! The congressmen and woman and senators in Washington D.C. had better watch their (p’s & q’s) before we actually do- grow into a full blown ANGRY & Undisciplined Mob and torch Washington D.C. to the ground! They have WOKEN us- They have woken up the “GIANT Middle Class”! We ARE America! We ARE “The Mighty Eagle!” and We are NOT amused! What part of that- do they NOT get?
We are the normal everyday hard working Americans- from all walks of life, and WE are pissed off at them- our government. If the Tea Parties don’t work (like we want them too,) I feel- WE WILL march on Washington en-mass. Just like your letter said. But Washington doesn’t seem to understand that. Or they just don’t care. How Arrogant of them!
I voted for Mc Cain (not because) I thought he would be any better than Obama- but because (I personally thought he was a strong military man) and he has a STRONG running mate in Sarah Palin and he sucked just (a bit less) than Obama did. We need (balls of brass) in the oval office chair- to fight off the wolves at our gates. Not a sweet talking kiss ass… And I really wanted Sarah Palin in either the President or Vice President’s seat. I felt she was the only one- out of all of them that had (solid brass balls) that was running for the office- that also had grit, truth & honesty going for her. That’s what I want in those two office chairs. We haven’t had grit, truth & honesty in those two offices for many decades now!
Then the (3 free media) stations were bought off and the (smear campaign began) on her family- that was just in very bad taste & criminal behavior in my opinion… I will never trust those 3 free networks ever again for truth of any kind.
Un-fortunately the poor (uninformed masses)- only have the (the 3 free news stations) to watch like NBC,ABC,CBS for information (of any kind) on the men & woman that were running for the office of president (this past) election. And they were very biased. Period! And that is what won this last election. The poor vote. The poor vote was bought- thru the offer of free money and more free welfare programs. The middle class is who pays for all of that.
But now- thru the nationwide “FORCED digital TV programming,” That particular medium of (free TV) isn’t going into those same (poor people’s) living rooms anymore. So they won’t have that MASS market of free votes (so sought after by the left) for the next election. The uninformed- will STILL be the uninformed. If we can just get Sarah Palin to run again. We are a shoe in.
I am like you- I trust very few people in Washington D.C. now… None of those clowns stand for a damn thing anymore. It’s all about which special interest groups- can fill their pockets up the fastest- (with cash and stock options and business CEO positions and power Czar positions) for their favored cronies… While the rest of this country starves thru the stagnation & inflation heading our way…
Again- You go Girl! We “the middle class” are with you!
Sincerely,
Darla White (Texas)
I trust NO ONE in government!!! I knew what BO stood for and what his agenda was. I believe that he is a muslim who hates this country and what it stands for. He bows to murdering dictators, talks bad about MY country and has an evilness about him. All the morons that follow him while drooling like brainless idiots, like pelosi, reid, schumer, msnbc, cnn, abc, cbs, nbc and hollyweird can hang themselves!!!! I wish they would pack up their crap and get the heck out of MY country, since they hate it here anyway!
I am not surprised that so many on SA agree with this letter, as I said above it sounds like she could be a contributing writer here, but the reality is this letter does not in fact agree with what “the people” want.
If we look at immigration, it is pretty clear in polls that the majority of people support a path to citizenship for those here illegally (or in the parlance of SA – amnesty). It is also quite clear that the majority of people believe there needs to be serious reform of the health care system with the government having a significant role and being done soon. Also, a majority of Americans are concerned about global warming and in fact do want government to mandate changes that would lower carbon emissions.
Ms. Contreras also brings up two points which are quite strange. The first being the claim that ACORN is going to be in charge of the next census or that real estate fees were going to go to them. Both of these claims are pure fantasy.
Lastly, the concern for redistribution is quite odd considering we are in a period (and by that I mean before Bush and including Clinton and Reagan) of one of the most massive redistributions of wealth in the nation’s history – its just that the redistribution has been going upward. Workers work more and are more productive yet wages have remained stagnant while the gap between rich and poor has only widened and corporate profits (before the recent downturn) have soared.
Janet,
You are RIGHT!! Here is the rub most people don’t see. This govt. can’t make slaves of us through the use of force. The second amendment is for our protection against our own govt. What the govt. has been doing since the FED was established has been a process to enslave us financialy. They’ve almost done it. Thanks Gary

Janet! Janet! Janet!
I love you and respect you…
The country is suffering. When some don’t have what it takes to put their worries and concerns in writing, some might not take the time to do it, you Janet have the writing skills, the courage to do it and took time to do so for me and for so many of us that feel exactly the same way. Thank you.

“It is too bad that this is not the entire letter. Some of what was omitted was even better.”
Vicki,
What makes you say there is more to the letter? Can you elaborate?
Any idea where I can find the remainder of the letter?
Janet
I feel very sorry for people like you.
Stop looking at Mr. Obama by the color of his skin and try to see what Mr.Obama is doing for America.I’m sure you are not as smart or as intelligent as Mr.Obama and his wife. I think you need to stop living in the past and catch up with the present. Mr. Obama is only trying to do his very best to make sure the same things he is trying to fix can’t occur again in the future. You sound like the lazy Americans who are always looking for a hand out.oops I’m sorry touch a nerve. It took God more than one day to create the world, if you and the Stupid Americans who can’t see what Mr. Obam is trying to do to help all AMERICANS if you can do a better job why don’t you try to run for office and lets see what you can do.Try being a human being sometimes and not being a stuip while hog that you sound like in that letter I think you are looking for FAME but I think your time has run out on you.Go and play with your Grand kids and stay out of the public I sight you sound very stupid.
Is it just me or is Diamond’s post the most grammatically incorrect and idiotic post on here? What a moron!!!
I want to thank everyone for the incredible response to the letter and the enormous number of signatures. I knew our numbers were greater than anyone could have imagined. Don’t be too hard on Diamond. He has a right to his opinion. I wish I could go play with my grandkids, but there is too much to do now. I can’t blame the liberals for being happy to get what they “think” they want. Be careful what you wish for. I hope you have all joined your Congressional Coalition at the 9/12 project. That is where we will all be banding together to march on Washington. God Bless America and all of you!
By the way, there is more to the letter.
Janet: You are a true American hero and patriot. You truly speak for me and countless other Americans. Are you involved in a 9-12 group? My husband and I would love to join it. We desperately want to help.
I just read your post that says you’re marching on Washington. I wish we could go! Please e-mail me and let me know what is going on locally. Thanks.
I have added this blog post to my favorites. I will try to talk with all of you more in the days and weeks ahead. We can take our government back together. Also, I am still a registered Republican, and I want to try to take our Party back to its roots. I assure you, I am not looking for 100%, nor am I a whiney malcontent. Things just really got to be too much for me to stay silent and hope for the best. Good night.
Can we start (taking our country back) with something each of us can do without anyone else’s help? When completing the Census, remember that in the Constitution it says it is for ‘enumeration’ therefore ONLY COMPLETE THE NUMBERS ASKED FOR, nothing else. You will be threatened, but nothing else will happen. You see in the 10th amendment it clearly states that whatever is not specific Fed power then belongs to the states or the people. SO I SAY, PLEASE EXERT THE POWER YOU HAVE.
