Let’s hope the next Republican nominee makes this speech in the 2012 convention.

Then he or she will do as badly as Goldwater, who carried 6 backward states (AL, MS, LA, SC, GA, & the ultra-backwater AZ), garnered 38.5% of the popular vote, and 52 electoral votes to 486 for the incumbent Democratic President.

Great post. The mantra I love from the ‘other side’ is “I am socially moderate, fiscally conservative”. Funny how that gets us into such unending DEBT!
