Chris Simcox to Challenge John McCain

It’s official. Senator John McCain will have a Republican challenger next fall.
Tomorrow, conservative border security activist, Chris Simcox, will announce his bid for the US Senate seat currently held by John McCain. Simcox will make his announcement on the State Capitol lawn at 11:30 and will likely be surrounded by supporters and those angry with Senator John McCain.
This undoubtedly will set the stage for what will be a fight for the soul of the Republican party here in Arizona.
Over the years, many believe John McCain has abandoned the party’s conservative principles on the issues of free speech, sanctity of life, national security and immigration enforcement. Simcox’s conservative grassroots background and position on such issues is certain to pose a credible if not uncomfortable challenge to McCain.
Simcox is also expected to garnish widespread support not just here in Arizona but amongst other supporters across the Southwest. He is expected to call upon these supporters to help raise money especially during a time when drug cartels are expanding their terror campaigns across the border.
While McCain supporters will attempt to brush off Simcox’s challenge as less than credible, those close to McCain’s inner circle will eventually have to admit that they have a real problem.

I just started checking the site but I love the section on a “DISCIPLINED LIFELONG ATHLETE”… “An ardent baseball fan, Chris Simcox was fortunate enough to flirt with a professional baseball contract right out of high school. His military father taught Chris about the game and instilled the concept of discipline and work ethic to accomplish goals. His family’s military background is storied, yet Chris decided to take a shot at playing ball. Even after a serious illness, Chris fought back, conditioned and against all odds continued to play semi-pro and adult league baseball including international championship tournaments.”
Is this something you have an entire section on your website on?? How you played in adult baseball leagues…
Also there are numerous typos he better get it together if he thinks he has an shot against McCain

Ever hear of going from really bad (McCain) to totally not in the ball park (no pun intended)?
I know both men, and as much as I have issues with McSame, Simcox isn’t even in the same solar system as Johnny.

Hurrah! McAmnesty has a very real threat. A vote for McSame is a vote to give away your or, your son’s job. A vote for Simcox is a vote to keep American jobs.
The grassroots will be heard on this one just like we were heard in the ‘08 legislative elections, the county GOP race and the state GOP race.
McCain endorsed J-No, he opposed Prop 200 and he is a tireless Jason LaVecke lackey. Welcome aboard Simcox, the conservative’s choice!

I have met Mr. Simcox and he is very smart and very well spoken and very well dressed and personable. Why is he obviously so BONKERS as to be a fringe candidate against an unbeatable incumbent? He could run for something a step lower where he could win. Who is his confidante… Ron Haney???

Simcox is unlikely to be a serious contender but if he were to become one there is enough things in his past and writings that the McCain campaign could use to make sure the guy would never consider running for elected office again. You may not like it, put that’s the truth.

He’ll never raise the money needed to run a legitimate campaign. That’s just the first in a long list of reasons he’ll be a very small thorn in McCains side.

Arizona votes to make life uncomfortable for “undocumented workers” by 75% at every opportunity. I like Simcox’s chances a lot!
McSame or national security? Arizona will get this one right too.

This guy is never going to raise the money necessary, and attacking McCain on national security is not exactly going to be something that is going to get traction. A war hero or someone who wears a kevlar vest with a cigar in his mouth on his campaign website….
Simcox needs to harp on immigration to even have a chance and even then he won’t have the money to compete. Simcox should have set his sights a little lower initially and not just run for the US senate.

All you ne’er-do-well’s who participated in the tea parties and anti-government takeover rallies and now you have an opportunity to take action and fix the problem!
Shame on you for tearing down someone who wants to be part of the solution!
John McCain is a symbol of all that this federal government has done wrong to the country. He’s represents the past. Don’t you get it? He is part of the good ol boys who don’t listen to us. He is out of step with the people of Arizona.
Next election I won’t be voting for McCain. His time has come and gone.

To the naysayers: RE the primary only, Simcox has a wonderful chance of beating Mc Cain. Look at age alone. Side by side McCain looks like the Picture of Dorian Gray, while Simcox’s good looks and youth speaks volumes. McCain is not a great speaker. Chris started out poorly, but obviously has the ability to learn. Not a bad trait. Clearly, Chris has a few lapses in his closet, but McCain has even more. Will the women of Arizona forget his petty dismissal of Sarah Palin, once he USED her? And Sarah wouldn’t be the first woman he summarily dismissed when he was done with her, ie., wife number one. Seems to me McCain would have a hard time bringing up any lapses on Chris’ part.
Fast forward to the General:
Prop 200 had no chance, right? And all the anti-illegal immigrant laws enacted BY THE PEOPLE’S VOTE since then, ‘had no chance’. Funny how both Dems and Reps voted that one in. Illegal immigration is still a great issue to run on. Actually, the so-called Hispanic vote is a tiny percentage ginned up by the people who would like to gain some power by touting it.
With all of the never-ending ’surprises’ of pay-to-play Democrats, the taxpaying lapses of Democrats, the overreaching power plays of Democrats, there would appear to be a comfortable number of both Republicans and Democrats willing to toss any Dem put up to
beat Chris.
There is more, but I will save those arguments for later. And I am taking any bets…hugs.

In the past I have supported McCain and in his early years in congress I felt he did a fine job. As of late though he has forgotten about the people of Arizona, those whom he is suppose to represent.
His attention is more on national and forgien issues. Not the issues that are effecting Arizonas directly. He doesn’t want to deal or here from the grassroots people because he says they are to far right.
Those on the right are just concerned about the destruction of the constitution, the liberties that are being lost and the representation that doesn’t happend in Washington anymore. What happened to the “Mr. Smith Goes To Washington”. These thing have occuried on who’s watch?
McCain is suppose to be this great mediator in bringing the sides together and finding common ground but that hasn’t happened in this state, just the opposite has happened. With the delegations refussal, lead by McCain, to address the grassroots they have given them validity and a given them a voice. A Voice that is growing.
I would be surprised if Simcox wins, but I firmly believe that it will be good. Hopefully it will cause McCain to campaign in this state, get out and talk with the people, see the issue that they are dealing with.
Having to campaign in this state will be new, something that McCain hasn’t had to do in a long time.
Am I going to support McCain this go around, I don’t know yet? What I do know is that I’m tired of Washington, I’m tired of broken promises. I’m tired of having no representation and I’m tired of elected official who don’t listen to the people.

This has nothing to do with tearing down a guy who can change things. He without question is going to have a major up hill battle and senate races are ALL ABOUT MONEY. McCain has a lot of it with lots of friends Simcox is going to have issues competing no matter what. That is just a fact.

Money is NOT the ONLY thing that wins campaigns. Granted, it’s very helpful. To make that assertion is to believe whole-heartedly in “Clean Elections”. It is possible for a candidate who touts ideals that the voters care about to beat an out-of-touch, monied, poor campaigner, even an incumbent. Dean Martin beat Tom Horne the first time around and Martin was outspent. There’s PLENTY of evidence out there that money does NOT equal victory. Additionally, if Arizona parties got off the taxpayer dime and ran self-funded caucuses to choose their candidates, money wouldn’t matter a whole lot and catering to Republican precinct committeemen would. Want to see an influx of people into the party? Just attach voting in “primary” caucuses to party membership. VA does this and I bet other states do as well.
My fear is that Simcox is going to be viewed as a 1-issue candidate much like Randy Graf was. Even if that’s the case, I’d much rather claw out my own eyes, slit my wrists, and bleed to death before I’d cast another vote for McLame. If I were in AZ, I’d be voting for Simcox or some other alternative. Too bad the lemmings we call the voting electorate are too blind to see that moderates like McLame have had their chance, they blew it, and they need to be removed from power. Go, Simcox! Moderate Republican candidates = more losses for Republicans like in 2006 and 2008. WAKE UP, Republicans, and remove the moderates from power!

azmesan, how many times are you going to fall for McCain’s lies? He will tell you (and us all) what he thinks we WANT to hear, then do as HE pleases, just as he has done time and again. HE knows better than we do! HE is a maverick. Look at his long career and private life. A spoiled brat!!!
And Johnny, you are right about dough, but unlike others who have run against McCain, Chris has had an audience throughout the US. He is already known. Believe me, he will get lots of money! McCain is despised for what he has done to the entire political process including his’reforms’ and his misrepresentation of voting Republicans in this last run against Obama. Many blame him for Obama’s win. This coming election will be VERY interesting.

Whoever is suggesting that John McCain endorsed Janet Napolitano is dead wrong. Senator McCain endorsed Len Munsil for Governor. Just ask Len. I think you can even view the endorsement TV ad on YouTube, still.

WOW! Chris Simcox “fought back, conditioned, and against all odds” was able to play in an adult baseball league. I must make him my U.S. Senator. I can’t believe we’d pass up this kind of experience. I honor and respect Senator McCain for his 23 years in the Navy, his 6 years as a POW, his 23 years in Congress where he has a 100% rating from the National Tax Limitation Committee, an 90% rating from Americans for Tax Reform, a 90% from Right to Life, a 0% from Planned Parenthood; it just doesn’t compare to someone who THOUGHT about joining the military, but instead played baseball.

Well obviously I don’t speak for you, Iris, but I vote on the issues. I don’t vote on the basis of looks or perceived grievances against a gender.
I will look at the issues I care about (taxes, abortion, immigration, etc.) and will vote with the person who best holds my values. Hopefully, Arizona Republicans, whether male or female, will do likewise. This election is far too important to waste any time on petty concerns.

Money is not the only thing but this guy is going to need millions of dollars to even compete with McCain who is going to be able to millions at the snap of his fingers.
So while money is not the only thing if you are going to be McCain you need to be able to get on TV if you are going to be anywhere near a serious contender.
