Grayson,
The stupidity of the masses never ceases to amaze me. GOVERNMENT created the environment for the excesses, GOVERNMENT created the housing bubble. And in their efforts to "fix" their screw-ups, they're creating more opportunity for fraud. I've outlined this elsewhere, but the Fed kept interest rates low which encouraged mortgage lending. The GOVERNMENT created mortgage securitization giants Fannie and Freddie. The GOVERNMENT put affordable housing goals on Fannie and Freddie. To meet those goals, Fannie and Freddie bought private label subprime mortgage securities, thereby ENCOURAGING subprime lending. The GOVERNMENT has pushed home ownership in FIRREA and under the Clinton Administration. The moderate Bush pushed home ownership too. This created an above-market demand for housing....in other words, a market distortion and a housing bubble. All of this should lead you to conclude that the GOVERNMENT encouraged the unsustainable housing bubble and if you don't come to that conclusion, you're just dumb or blind or willfully dumb and or blind. I'm not alone in claiming this. Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-TX) recently submitted his own alternative views to the Congressional Oversight Panel's report on the causes of the housing bubble and it's collapse. He pretty much mirrored my comments months after I made my comments. Granted, he also blamed the Community Reinvestment Act, and I've never done so.

Now, in trying to "fix" the problem that the government created, the Dummycrats are resorting to...wait for it...MORE GOVERNMENT! Yeah, THAT'll fix EVERYTHING! The government is like a reverse Midas. Everything it touches turns to sheiss. Just witness it's actions since September of last year and if you're still not a believer, there's no hope for you. And the Dummycrats and the idiot masses place their trust in government. What morons! So, do I give a rat's rear end what POLLS say? I think not, Mr. Grayson. You go ahead and run with the lemmings, OK? Enjoy your flight, buddy.

The RIGHT course to take was to do nothing, let institutions fail. Yes, this would have been a disaster...initially, but I assure you, historical evidence shows that sharp crashes are followed by strong recoveries when the free market is allowed to take its own course, but when government meddles in the economy and tries to intervene to limit the impact of downturns, they screw up recoveries and prolong them.

The number of Americans who believe that the nation is headed in the right direction has roughly tripled since Barack Obama's election, and the public overwhelmingly blames the excesses of the financial industry, rather than the new president, for turmoil in the economy, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.
