Pullen: Praises AZ GOP Congressional Delegation for Voting Against ‘Stimulus’

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: February 10, 2009

PULLEN PRAISES AZ GOP DELEGATION FOR HANGING TOUGH AGAINST STIMULUS BILL
GOP Chief Critical of AZ Democrat Congressional Democrats

Phoenix, AZ – Randy Pullen, chairman of the Arizona Republican Party, today lauded Senators John McCain and Jon Kyl and Representatives Jeff Flake, Trent Franks, and John Shadegg in opposing the Democrat stimulus bill.

“Our elected representatives in Congress showed true grit and fortitude in opposing a bill that was bad for America,” said Pullen. “This was a one-sided Democrat bill that was the brainchild of an overreaching Democrat President and a Democrat Congress anxious to pay off their campaign supporters. This bill will hurt far more than it can ever help and these same Democrats will have to answer to America in 2010.”

Pullen continued, “I am proud of the efforts our Arizona Republican delegation made throughout this very trying process. While the votes weren’t there to win the day, our Republican representatives took the fight to the Democrats and continued a constructive dialogue with the American public.

“By way of contrast, Arizona Democrat Representatives Giffords, Grijalva, Kirkpatrick, Mitchell, and Pastor voted in favor of this massive and irresponsible spending plan.

“The Democrats will find, once again, that you simply cannot spend your way into prosperity,” concluded Pullen.

Congressman Kanjorski: The September Surprise

Here’s a YouTube clip of Congressman Paul Kanjorski speculating that our current fiscal crisis was triggered on September 18, 2008 with an electronic run on the banks. According to Kanjorski, some entity rapidly began withdrawing money markets out of the financial system at the tune of $550 Billion! (2:22 into the clip)

Leading into his response, you can hear the anger and unrest in a woman caller’s voice. Expect a lot more of this as the market continues to melt, people lose jobs, hyperinflation begins to creep into the picture and gun/ammo sales skyrocket.

Will the stimulus work? Depends?

Listening to the commentary and reading the various takes on the stimulus package in Congress, an old phrase came to mind… “wetting the bed to get warm”. While it might offer momentary relief of pressure and a warm feeling all over; it quickly turns to a wet, cold, mess with no way to go back and only expands the originating problem.

Is this the bed Congress is making for all of us?

100′s of Phoenix employees lose jobs; $2 million paid for 1 piece of art

$2 million monstrosityWe appreciate the Arizona Republic drawing our attention yesterday to the $2 million piece of “art” the City of Phoenix is installing downtown, a floating replica of a flower. Meanwhile, hundreds of City of Phoenix employees are being laid off, parks are closing, and utility and parking rates are being increased as Phoenix cuts $270 million in spending. Downtown had a perfectly nice park until the Mayor and City Council decided they wanted to use taxpayers’ money to tear it down and subsidize some businesses to move in. Wonder how much those subsidies to businesses cost? A costly piece of art like this should NEVER have been commissioned using the public’s money.

Report says Village Voice/New Times “Gaming” Web Traffic

Looks like the Phoenix New Times is going to be losing some of its sleazoid advertisers…

A recent report says that Phoenix-based Village Voice Media, one of the largest alternative weekly newspaper publishers in the nation, has been “gaming” a social media network to boost the number of hits on its various websites.

The report from a Minnesota blog called TheDeets.com took a closer look at reports that CityPages, the local alternative weekly there, saw a startling 700 percent increase in web traffic in about two months. The increase in traffic meant the newspaper was bringing in lots more cash from web advertisers.

Take the chart above for instance. It looks at the website of the Phoenix New Times, the flagship of what used to be the New Times alt weekly chain before its owner purchased Village Voice Media. The top line in red shows fairly steady traffic for phoenixnewtimes.com over the past year, while the bottom line in blue shows a huge, 937 percent increase in the number of readers of the Phoenix New Times blogs over the past year.

Mary Rose Wilcox: $340 million court tower justified since it will create 100 jobs

Democrat County Supervisor Mary Rose Wilcox has written an op-ed in the Phoenix Republic insisting on no cuts to the brand-new Taj Mahal Superior court tower being built because “it will create 100 jobs.” Remind anyone of the so-called Stimulus Bill in Congress, which will create jobs at a cost of $206,000 per job? This is even worse. The Court Tower will create 100 jobs at a cost of $3.4 million per job. At that rate, why not build TWO court towers and create twice as many jobs!

Meanwhile, county law enforcement is being told they must cut 20% of their budget. A Sheriff’s Deputy told us that they are trying to get to this 20% number by not replacing employees when they quit, and since they usually lose about 15-20 employees each month, they are about there. But it is making things difficult to take care of the inmates, and there will eventually be lawsuits.

According to a recent article in the Arizona Republic,

Maricopa County’s new revenue figures released Wednesday are horrendous, with the county recording the sharpest declines ever – and no indication of where the bottom is.

Combined, revenues from sales tax, vehicle-licensing tax and jail-excise tax are below budget by $25.5 million so far in fiscal 2009, about 9 percent lower than at the same time last year and 7 percent under budget.

Officials are revising this year’s budget, and they are preparing for harder times in 2010.

Seems pretty irresponsible for the fancy new tower to continue being built while law enforcement takes the cuts.

Big Brother In The Plan!

This ought to scare the hell out of everyone!

Bloomberg is reporting,

he bill’s health rules will affect “every individual in the United States” (445, 454, 479). Your medical treatments will be tracked electronically by a federal system. Having electronic medical records at your fingertips, easily transferred to a hospital, is beneficial. It will help avoid duplicate tests and errors.

But the bill goes further. One new bureaucracy, the National Coordinator of Health Information Technology, will monitor treatments to make sure your doctor is doing what the federal government deems appropriate and cost effective. The goal is to reduce costs and “guide” your doctor’s decisions (442, 446). These provisions in the stimulus bill are virtually identical to what Daschle prescribed in his 2008 book, “Critical: What We Can Do About the Health-Care Crisis.” According to Daschle, doctors have to give up autonomy and “learn to operate less like solo practitioners.” (Page numbers refer to H.R. 1 EH, pdf version)

MAKE THE PHONE CALLS!

Obamanomics: Fear, Naivete/Naïvety or Deception?

Having just watched President Obama deliver his first prime time news conference, I have to wonder what this administration is telling – or not telling – the American people.

Could Obama be completely naive about how the economy took a sudden dramatic turn for the worse? He also cited the “lost generation” in Japan which went unchallenged by even the media. (Do they even know their history?)

At the same time, I feel as if Obama was trying to sell the $800 PLUS BILLION “stimulus” plan given all the opposition by the American people burning up the phone, email and fax lines over the last week. Many of us believe that this administration is using a Trojan horse strategy by scaring the hell out of everyone in order to socialize financial institutions, health care and any other sector of the economy. Fear is an incredible motivator and Obama and Congressional Democrats have seized this opportunity to radically and irreversibly change the American economy.

Finally, could it be possible that things are really worse than what Obama is telling the American people? Does the administration fear the worst but simply cannot tell us because it would create widespread havoc and unrest nationwide? Would the truth cause a run on the banks or even imposing Martial law?

A final note: Where are all the liberal celebrities who moaned and groaned during the Bush Presidency about how there was so much fear and anxiety?

Consequences; unintended and unfortunate.

President Obama has inspired an economic stimulus, albeit limited, of another variety. It is one that San Fran Nan would very likely disapprove of, regardless of the economic effects. The fear of an assault on the Second Amendment predicted before and after the election, has caused a record breaking surge in gun and ammo sales.  Now if we can just find a way to guard against this Keynesian assault on our economy.

Specter’s Magic Bullet: Rino Tastes Just Like Pork

by Gayle Plato-Besley
Arlen Specter

Maybe because it’s his birthday next week, or maybe the bout with cancer.  Maybe Arlen Specter owes somebody somewhere and feels sad that Ted Kennedy was sick during all the voting. Point is,  even though he is a RINO, Mr. Specter realizes what  an impossible porking this stimulus means.  Who really knows why Arlen Specter jumped?

I think Specter’s voter fraud shot at the Republican body was another “magic bullet”.

You do know that Specter is the developer of the Magic Bullet theory of the President Kennedy assassination? Well this week,  Mr. Specter hit the head, darted across the senate floor, grazing Lindsay Graham and John McCain, while barely missing Barbara Boxer.  He then landed in Susan Collins’ lap, only to sharply and impossibly turn to the far left.  This Magic Specter Bullet  dropped, in pristine form, onto the palm of ‘Pilot‘, our own Machurian Candidate himself: POTUS B.O.
I see Hillary Clinton as the Angela Lansbury character, with her maternal puppet mastery, strings tied all over the hands of the power machine.

All we really need is the Stimulus Bill version of the Zapruder film of clarity to show everybody what really happened after this thing blows up.  But the real question is this:  if there’s a magic bullet, where’s the rifle and who’s the patsy in the book depository?

Eckerstrom Resigns!

The Phoenix New Times is reporting that Paul Eckerstrom, recently elected as Democratic Party Chair in what can best be called a coup, has resigned. The article cites the rigor of the job and expectation to relocate to Phoenix as primary reasons for his resignation. The unexpected election of Eckerstrom prompted rumors of no confidence among the party work horses.

Perhaps Eckerstrom got caught up in the excitement of the moment, his ego stroked by the support he garnered. Then when the reality hit and the cost for his commitment became his alone, it was too high a price. Sounds like a bad case of buyer’s remorse.

Obamanation: The Era of Fear and Loathing

I’m watching Barack Obama live on FoxNews blame everything HIS Administration has botched thus far on the Republicans. (WATCH LIVE) It’s a classic move from the Clinton Administration – call your opponent and “Obstructionist.”

I have never seen anything like this. As our economy crumbles with more and more government intervention – let’s not forget it was the Democrat’s Community Reinvestment Act that started this whole mess – Obama continues to threaten the country that our country will cease to exists we know it IF we don’t throw more BILLIONS of dollars at the problem! He’s calling it “Catastrophic” with a capital “C.”

Wasn’t it FDR who stated, “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself?”

The State of New Hampshire – just yesterday – introduced a resolution that they will “declare certain actions by the federal government to completely totally void and warning that certain future acts will be viewed as a ‘breach of peace’ with the states themselves that risks ‘nullifying the Constitution.’” (read resolution) Keep in mind that New Hampshire’s state motto is “Live Free of Die!”

Here in Arizona, Republicans control the Legislative and Executive branches of government. Conservatives can only hope that once Republicans clean up the budget mess down at the legislature, they can start dealing with whatever high-priced nonsense the federal government wants to force down our throats or steal out of our pockets. Can we expect a declaration of secession or nullification? Probably not. But we can expect the level of anger and fear over what’s going on in Washington to reach a level that we have not seen in decades.

In the meantime, keep the calls and emails going to your Congressman and Senators Kyl and McCain. While they have said they will vote against it, they need to hear your voice but most importantly, the tone of your voice.

Any aspirations of “Hope” is over – DEAD and buried. While this crisis is an opportunity for Democrats to socialize our country, some of us are NOT going to give up!

Mr. President, are you a role model?

The Senate version of the stimulus package was revealed to hold $75 million for smoking cessation programs. I’m not sure how stimulating to the economy that would be or how many sustainable jobs would be created, but I do have another idea that could offer the same result. And it is FREE!

While not exactly a secret that President Obama is a smoker, he does try to keep it under cover. Well, maybe it’s time for him to, as they say, man up. Save the country $75 mil and he can become our national smoking cessation program. Start with a public service announcement where he admits his addiction, announces his intent to stop smoking and to allow the media to record his progress. His efforts and strategies could be shared via a blog or Twitter. Hey, if he can do it under the pressures of being the leader of the free world, preserver of all that is good, and the holder of the keys to global security and climate…why can’t everyone? With the press treating him like every move he makes is unique and a wonder to behold, the media coverage of his progress would be more valuable than money could buy.

Come on Mr. President, save our taxpayers $75 million and be a real role model.

Hurting government workers should thank the media for electing Napolitano

There is a bit of irony reading the media’s eagerly reported daily updates of government employee layoffs and furloughs. After all, Napolitano would never have gotten elected if it hadn’t been for the constant cheerleading she was given in the Arizona Republic, East Valley Tribune, and other local left-leaning news media. During both gubernatorial elections, as well as year round, they essentially acted like a wing of her campaign. Napolitano was responsible for presiding over the biggest deficit in Arizona’s history, using strong-armed tactics to keep pork and payoffs in each year’s budget. Now we have unnecessary programs like all-day kindergarten (which has no visible effect on children by grade 5 according to a Goldwater Institute report) and 21st Century Fund, which Rep. Sam Crump has been in the news for the last couple of days trying to take it out of the budget as corporate welfare. If Napolitano had made reasonable compromises with the Republican-controlled legislature to keep spending down to the levels brought in by tax revenues – not used gimmicks to borrow from future revenues – the state, county, and local governments would not be laying off workers. New government jobs would never have been created, and those employees facing layoffs would currently be working in the private sector. Thanks, so-called mainstream media. Hope you enjoy reporting on the layoffs.

Tucson’s Planned Parenthood Breaking the Law!

The Honorary “Margaret Sanger” Planned Parenthood located in Tucson has been caught on film violating Arizona State Law by failing to report an incident of statutory rape of a 15-year-old girl by a 27-year-old male. An organization called Live Action Films caught the incident on tape and has revealed it to the world. Here is that video:

I have to applaud the individuals who captured this on tape. The Margaret Sanger clinic is one of the most brazen abortuaries in Arizona and it took tremendous courage to go into this den of vipers! Authorities should immediately shut down this clinic!

Just some quick stats. The video reveals that Planned Parenthood was charging $425 for both surgical and medical abortions. According to the last statistics available through the Arizona Department of Vital Statistics, there were 10,486 abortions performed in Arizona on Arizona residents. Of those 10,486 women, 142 were under the age of 15 and 576 were between the age of 15 and 17 for a total of 718 Arizona girls under the age of 18. A rough estimate of the revenue generated by the abortion industry here in Arizona comes to about $4.5 Million!

Here are the statistics as they were reported to the Arizona Department of Vital Statistics in 2007 (latest data):
