No Stimulus Package! Sign The Petition!

Some of you know that I serve as the Treasurer of the Arizona Taxpayer Action Committee – the political action committee for the Arizona Chapter of Americans for Prosperity. This evening, I participated in a nationwide conference call sponsored by Americans for Prosperity. There were over 4,400 other conservative activists on this call and the focus was to shut down the Democratic-led sham also known as the “Stimulus Package.”

As early as this Wednesday, Congressional Democrats may try to shove this financial attrocity down our throats. And that means you still have time to act!

Please take a moment to visit NoStimulus.com and sign the petition that will be handed off to your Congressman and Senators McCain and Kyl.

Now I normally don’t advocate signing online petitions but this is extremely important. As we have been hearing over and over, elections have consequences. If you remain silent on this matter, it will send the message that its OK to throw our grandchildren’s money down a rat hole.

Let your voice be heard. Get involved today!

  1. Chad says:

The Democrats so-called “stimulus plan” is really just a pork-fest. Some highlights:

    – $3 billion for fitness and wellness
    – $19 billion in food stamps
    – $6 billion for weatherization
    – $100 million for contraceptives

Only 7% of the $825 billion will be spent this year.

Obama claims the $825 billion will create 3 million jobs. That’s a cost of $275,000 per job, paid for by an avg US household income of $50,000.

    Welcome to the Obamanation!

  2. todd says:

Americans for Prosperity – isn’t that the group started by and run the billionaire Koch brothers who in inherited their father’s well and oil company? Maybe it would be better to call it Americans for the Prosperous? Yes, I know this isn’t an argument for or against the stimulus but the post doesn’t make any either.

  3. Kim O. says:

You mean the children of an American entrepreneur who was allowed to become wealthy through the work of his own hand in a free enterprise system? Then followed the Biblical principle of leaving an inheritance for his children and his children’s children?

Considering the words of Pelosi on the contraception aspect of the “plan”, it is just a few steps away from mandatory government approved pregnancy. Fill out the form, identify your ability to support this child, and wait for your approval in the mail. From there where do we go an ethnic quota in order to maintain balance in our population? And should you have an unapproved pregnancy….?

    Sign me up!

  4. todd says:

What on earth does contraception have to do with the inherited wealth of the billionaire Koch brothers?

Of course since Koch industries is a well-known polluter, it wants to limit government regulation of its activities. It would be nice if AFP it represented it self for what it is – a corporate lobbying group – since that is where the money is coming from , and I don’t just mean from Koch.

  5. Nick S says:

Good point Tood. Why take money from people who earned it by producing something of value.

Lets listen to a Prez who started his career with terrorist Bill Ayers and made money with sleazebag Tony Rezko.

The Dem Senate “leader” was a mafia lawyer and the Dem House Speaker is an insane lady who married some rich guy and never worked a day in her life. Dem. Chris Dodd, he’s busy getting special kick-backs from Countrywide, the biggest predatory mortgage lender.

I’ll choose to listen to people who built this great country through honest work. Todd, you can hang with the moochers and miscreants.

  6. Kim O. says:

I guess the change in paragraph was not enough to signal the change in topic.

The first was in response to your comment, the second to the post.

  7. todd says:

    Nick S,
You seem to think I believe Democrats are immune from criticism on this – but I am not a Democrat. The Democratic Leadership Council – which has boasted the “liberal” Bill Clinton (who actually carried out much of the conservative agenda in shrinking government and destroying the social safety net) and many others as members – has also received money from Koch so things aren’t as simple as your binary world view divided between Democrat and Republic suggests. What I am concerned about is groups that are almost entirely funded by large corporation presenting themselves as “citizens groups” when in fact that is not their concern at all.

  8. redarizona says:

Boo to wealthy people who donate to soup kitchens! Boo! Boo! They don’t want to feed the homeless, they only want the tax credit. Throw the food back in their dirty, wealthy, hidden-motive faces!!! Boo!!!! Booooooo!!!

…and how dare businessmen like the Koch family invest in protecting the free enterprise system which has made them wealthy and allowed them to create literally hundreds of thousands of jobs over the decades?!?!? How dare they exercise their 1st Amdt rights (and their own resources) to promote America and American free enterprise!!! BOOOO!!!

    …ugh.

  9. Ann Wilson says:

I do not want the ‘so-called’ Stimulus package passed, let the Democrats vote for it and let them take all the blame….Republican representives vote NO

  10. John Groves says:

So the lenders are broke. Why don’t we let all americans pay down their existing mortgages at 80 cents on the dollar. The lenders will get recapitalized and we wont need this govt pork job. This will finally give something to those who are being hurt the most. The silent majority.

  11. Our country is getting into serious financial difficulties because of all the spending for non essential programs. Lets get our financial affairs in order by reducing our expenditures and reduceing or getting rid of non essential programs.

    Ray Russell

  12. gina romero says:

IT’S NOT YOUR MONEY. GIVE BUSINESSES A PAYROLL HOLIDAY. STOP GIVING MONEY TO INDIVIDUALS WHO DO NOT PAY TAXES AND WHO DO NOT GENERATE JOBS.

  13. Chad says:

The more we learn about the “stimulus” package the more of a special-interest joke it becomes.

No wonder the Dems refuse to put it online.

If this is the only “stimulus” that package that Obama passes, my prediction is over 10% unemployment in 2010.

  14. Clara Martinez says:

The only “stumulation” the country will get is pure pork for the left and huge deficits. If the economy is to grow simply lower all taxes and drill for oil and let free enterprise prevail.

  15. Veritas Vincit says:

Pork? You mean ‘infrastructure’ projects that Obama’s economic advisor said aren’t for “white construction workers”? I suppose then we’ll have to import construction workers from south of the border.

  16. todd says:

    Veritas Vincit
Reich did not say that at all and it is quite a distortion of his statement.

  17. Tom says:

Why not take all the stimulus money and put it directly into the hands of the people who, I am certain, would have no problem with putting it back into the economy?

    No propaganda money for ACORN.

    Money only to the families.

  18. Dilia says:

McCain looks like the clown on Steven King’s movie.

Whatever plan they make my generation is going to have to pay in taxes!!!

So they should consider handing money out to teenagers, they know how to spend money [it wull raise the economy] , unlike families who will probably save it, most teens have nothing much to worry about

  19. Jules says:

    To “Todd”:

    Shut up.

    Thanks.

  20. Steve L. says:

There is one American employer that is still hiring at a torid pace…the Federal Government. And this is without the stimulus package. The stimulus package proposes to add 600,000 more jobs. Now ask yourself a question. Do you think the men and women who fought and died for this country did it so Americans could keep their freedoms or so government could grow and take them away from us? Growing the government has never ever brought the country out of a recession. On the other hand, printing more money and higher government spending has caused recessions to last longer. Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it and it certainly looks like there are a lot of politicians who aim to repeat history. Of course, if history were actually taught in this country as it happened, maybe we wouldn’t have so many people eager to repeat it.

  21. Ed Moser says:

Count me as a no vote for the stimulus package!!!

The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.
    Thomas Jefferson

I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.
    Thomas Jefferson

To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical.
    Thomas Jefferson

‘I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.’
    Thomas Jefferson

  22. Mary says:

Is it compulsory for Democrats to be offenders of laws; to be crimimals before entering Congress? …the whole bloody bunch are crooks. The STIMULUS package, HA, is their way of forming America into a socialize european country…without our knowledge of the people or consent…Liars, crooks, power-hungry goons.

  23. Karen says:

It appears that you can no longer get to the petition? Tell me this is because it’s been inundated with our citizens saying NO to this pork-fest.

  24. Roger Westcott says:

The Republicans in the Senate should vote NO. Let the American Taxpayers know where you stand. Be leaders!

  25. linda brennan says:

this stimulus plan is pure insanity. people in DC have no common sense. take a good look at this socialist plan. listen to the American people. maybe if the dem. politicans would pay their taxes the economy would improve.

  26. sue says:

You can no longer access the petition. Who blocked it and why? How can we sign it now?

  27. Chris Flynn says:

I say NO to this plan, and can not, in good conscience, even call this a stimulus package! I have looked over the bill that the House of Representatives passed and this thing is nothing but payback. God help us all once this bill comes due! The inflation will be devastating! Don’t be shocked if we are walking around with a pocket full of Euro within three years!

  28. mary says:

This sick, does anyone actually believe this is going to work, I think whoever taught these guys about economies, those teachers should be sued…what’s wrong with these people. I say absolutely not to this package, these politics people are always playing with our money, we’re paying the and they seem to be forgetting this. This is going to be one HUGE mess if this passes!!!

  29. Penny Toniolli says:

    NO stimulus!

  30. Thomas A Beebe says:

Let’s end the corporate income tax instead; that will get business moving again to create jobs and make us all competitive in the global market.

  31. William H Johnson says:

I oppose the stimulus really spending plan. Protect my children and grand children. this is irrsposible

  32. Gloria johnson says:

    No stimulus plan

  33. Joe Rogers says:

This stimulus bill is the work of socialists and as an American citizen I say no and reject this stimulus bill.

  34. John Carlini says:

If my credit cards are maxed out, I should take advantage of new credit card offers. Then I can spend more.
    Is that their thinking?

  35. Eric Winslow says:

NO stimulus. I am unemployed at the moment and can’t afford a lot of things, like bills. I can’t see anyone of us affording this bill. The problem that we the people have is that “our people” do not represent us.

  36. Eugene Dominy says:

“Vote” creation and not “Job Creation”. No to this stimulus bill that does nothing but pave the way to Socialism for the United States of America. I’m convinced this is President Obama’s primary objective!

  37. Mary Jcz says:

Stop this stimlus bill. The bill does address importants issues, like housing, unemployment, then there should be no bill. The economy will right it self in 18 months. So to add all this pork is insane. If this bills passes, the congress is going to ask for more. This bill will do nothing for the economy. This bill is for Obama to pay off groups from the election nothing more. He could care less about the american people.

  38. Gloria Wright says:

I am against the democrats stimulus package. Please add my name to your petition.

    Thank you!

    Gloria Wright
    Mesa, Arizona

  39. GABRIELLE CHRISTINE says:

NO! TO THIS SO-CALLED “STIMULUS” BILL – WHICH IS NOTHING BUT A SPENDING PACKAGE FOR THE SOCIALIST LEFT!(SPENDING AND TAXING IS WHAT THE DEMS DO BEST!) TO STIMULATE THE ECONOMY – SUSPEND PAYROLL TAXES FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS – THIS WILL GIVE SMALL BUSINESSES THE OPPORTUNITY TO HIRE WORKERS … AND THEREFORE “STIMULATE” THE ECONOMY! WE DO NOT NEED TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS OF DEBT! WAKE-UP AMERICA!!!!!

  40. Julien Bowles says:

I would love to sign the petition but the website does not work. I wonder if it is from an attack by Obama supporters or from too many people trying to sign it.
If they pass this, everyone should change their withholding to 4 or 5 dependants so thet nothing is withheld from their paychecks. Make the government wait for the money.

  41. LET THE AMERICANS VOTE AS THEY DID FOR OBAMA.AFTER ALL HE SHOULD TRUST US.WE ARE TRYING TO TRUST HIM.

  42. William R. Mathis says:

Please add my voice to those against the Obama stimulus pork barrel package. It is difficult, at best, to understand how anyone can say this bill will be anything but payment for Obama supportors. In reality, this bill will burden Americans for generations to come. This once great country will become just another second rate country. Does no one recognize the effect this will have on the value of the dollar and the staggering inflation that will follow?

  43. Thid stimulus package will break the U.S. and leave the next generations with enormous tax bills. Keep the government out of private business, we have had recessions before and we will have them again-this stimulus package will do nothing but make future generations pay for this mistake!

  44. Jeannie Dieffenbaugh says:

    No
We do not need it or want it as we do not was to become socialist. It will kill small business and what we have left.

  45. larry teeter says:

first rule of finance if you do not have it do not spend it

  46. Pamela Spivey says:

NO! NO!NO! TO THE STIMULUS PACKAGE AND AGAIN I SAY NO!

  47. skip gregg says:

No to the “spending” package. Get a real stimulus package one that will get the economy moving again and people back to work. Cut out all the “pork” and unneccessary entitlements.

  48. Helen Pedro says:

I vote no on the stimulus package. It has too much pork. The people who need it most are getting nothing but more false hope. Everything that doesn’t promote jobs should be taken out.Nancy Pelosi should be ashamed of herself. Whatever happened to her moral values.

  49. murhel carlson says:

Pork,Pork and you want to call it a stimulus package! My answer is NO to the stimulus package.

  50. Charles Spivey Sr says:

I say no the stimulus bill or should I say to the spending bill. Call your Senators Office and your Congressmans Office and tell them you vote no, People we can’t afford to pay this money back, when the money is all gone the jobs are all gone, then the Gov. is going to ask for more money. Again I say I Vote No.
