The author clearly doesn’t understand the economic implications of not passing the bill. It would be extremely detrimental to the economy if we do not pass it. Further, the country has a very good opportunity to make money on this deal, like the Mexico and Chrysler loans. This is not simply a pork bill, though there is some in it. This is much more of an investment into our country that will likely produce profit and save the credit markets. American taxpayers lost a trillion dollars on Wall Street in one day last week when the deal didn’t pass. A $700 billion investment seems quite prudent given that.
