Maricopa County Treasurer Candidates

Share

Yellow Sheets is reporting they have a list of Maricopa County Treasurer Wannabe’s and the line up is quite impressive. Here are the candidates according to their October 26th posting:

In addition, Sonoran Alliance has also learned that Charlie Gail Hendrix of the Maricopa County Health Care District, has thrown her hat into the ring.

The Board of Supervisors have also extended the deadline for receiving application to Friday, November 2, 2007 at 5 PM.

  1. I’d like to see Gary Ong get it. He’s a solid conservative, he ran a good race before, he’s been a loyal Republican, and he is qualified. That’s a pretty good combination in my book. And the food at his restaurant is pretty good too.

  2. Isn’t that the same Royce Flora who ran against Colette Rosati because she was a conservative? Forget about him then. We don’t need proud liberals in charge of our money.

  3. I’m sure Gary is a great guy, but what about someone with a finance background that can continue generating income for the county? Finding someone that understands or has experience in Arizona legislation and can run the office in the most fiscally responsible way that Schwiekert did?

  4. If I had to guess from this list, the Supervisors will narrow it down to Royce Flora (Kunasek), Hos Hoskins (Wilson) or Charlie Hendrix (Stapley).

  5. I seem to recall from that Flora-Rosati race that Flora had problems in his state job, was investigated, suspended, interfered with the investigation, etc. Anybody remember that stuff?

  6. Watch out for Shaw. He was a democrat until he realized he couldn’t win his city council seat in Tempe and went begging on his hands and knees to Hugh Hallman who anointed him as a semi running mate as long as he pledged a sort of blood oath to him. Much like Onnie except Onnie actually won and Shaw lost and big time.

  7. John, you need to get up to speed. Look at who supports Flora. Top conservatives like Russell Pearce and Schwiekert himself. Rosati lied (big surprise). Flora was holding people accountable for wasting tax money. That’s why they went after him. Rosati didn’t mention he ultimately got a clean bill of health. He has a history of protecting tax dollars. The agency director is the one that lost his job.

  8. Where does it say that Pearce and Schweikert are supporting Flora?

  9. This is a position that requires technical knowledge and relevant treasury experience. The best person for the job will have a financial background. Looking at this list I would rank the candidates starting with Flora, followed by Hoskins, Hughes, Roseler, Siegel and Quinn.

The political spin is nice to talk about but is not as important as competence.

  10. Tim S. (#2) and John (#5) need to read Joyce’s comments #7. Royce Flora is the best qualified candidate considering academics, business background, and political soundness. He’s a true conservative with a history of protecting the taxpayer. Royce has solid support from Russell Pearce, Dave Schweikert, Michelle Reagan, and John Kavanagh, among others. Ong is a nice guy but lacks the professional credentials. Hoskins is too old and has been bouncing around various government agencies for, literally, decades. Charlie is doing great right where she is, but has no financial background for this position. Liddy, well, we certainly don’t need another law-ya anywhere in public life.

  11. Augustus Shaw IV – This HOA Lawyer is a million laughs a minute!

Fired by the newspaper who published his column the HOA Guy!

    Reviled by many Private Communities

Excoriated by Superior Court Judge Peter Swann for bad behavior. http://hoanewsnetwork.com/media/blog/judge-gives-hoa-attorney-shaw-a-beating-homeowner-wins.php

Disciplinary Action by the AZ Bar Assoc – which he denies repeatedly but is all there in public records.

Now this guy thinks that the citizens of Maricopa County would be willing to Trust him with our Tax Dollars?

    What a comedian!

  12. Apparently the County Board of Supervisors has decided that qualifications don’t matter in choosing someone to fill the vacancy for County Treasurer’s position. What is Liddy doing on the interview list, for example? And Roesler? Just about anyone who knows this woman are shocked she is given any serious consideration. Finally, the most qualified person is not on the interview list. Royce Flora’s absence is unconscionable. What are these Supervisors thinking? Or are they?
