THAT BLUE DOG DON’T HUNT

Giffords votes for largest tax increase in American history

Phoenix, AZ – Randy Pullen, chairman of the Arizona Republican Party chastised Gabrielle Giffords for voting lockstep with the liberal extremist wing of the Democrat Party and supporting the largest tax increase in American history today.

“Gabrielle Giffords just doesn’t get it,” said Pullen. “She seems to think that we can tax and spend our way to prosperity.  That’s never worked in the past, it doesn’t work now, and it won’t work in the future.  Because of Gabrielle Giffords, the average Arizonan will see their taxes increase by $2,701.86 next year.”

“Her vote today hurts all Americans from parents and grandparents to small business owners and middle class families to veterans and senior citizens to children and single mothers,” Pullen continued.

“Giffords showed that she is little more than a pawn of Nancy Pelosi, John Murtha, Hillary Clinton and Ted Kennedy. She is incapable of voting independently and is controlled by the most liberal factions of the Democrat Party. I dare her to come home to Arizona and try and talk about fiscal responsibility after her disgraceful actions in Washington.

“Meanwhile, the Republicans presented a fiscally sound alternative that would balance the budget in five years without raising taxes.  They also include a plan for protecting social-security, a point the Democrats choose to ignore,” concluded Pullen.

Oh Pullen is full of it yet again, althought doing what he should be doing by trying to misrepresent Giffords as an extreme liberal.

The tax and spend rhetoric from this party is just too rich to believe. Largest deficits ever and you spend my money…$500 Billion on a failed experiment that, using Bush’s own early rhetoric, is “nation-building”. Add to that the Billions spent ineffectively on border security and what do we have? Enormous deficits and the biggest “tax and spend” party that I have yet to see.

I’d like to know a little more about this biggest tax raise in history. If its true, I will acknowledge it, but I am betting that this is a bunch of grousing about a young House member that attracted an enormous number of independents, Democrats, and members of your own party.

  2. This is the worst press release I’ve ever read.

“Her vote today hurts all Americans from parents and grandparents to small business owners and middle class families to veterans and senior citizens to children and single mothers,” Pullen continued.

I guess pulling out the phone book was a little too much.

  3. Sonoran Truth Squad says:

Clearly two folks who prefer the quieter pre-Pullen days… I’m sure Governor Nappy, Giffords, Mitchell and the rest of the lefties also miss the good old days!

$300 Billion plus in tax increases would be the biggest in history… That would be factual. Claiming that Giffords attracted “enormous” numbers of Republicans is without source, factual support, or merit. Would that be some of that spin that Kral accuses Pullen of?

  4. kralmajales says:

I did not say an enormous number of Republicans, STS. But she did pull crossovers, and a good number. She also attracted an enormous number of independents. If she didn’t take some of your party and most independents, she would never have kicked the tail off of Mr. Graf like she did…in a republican dominated district.

The only thing that could possibly make me wrong about this is that Republicans stayed home…which would mean you have a much bigger problem in this district than you even imagined.

I will say this. Tim Bee is amazing. A great leader, but so is she. I would honestly think twice if I were in his shoes, if I wanted to bet my political career on whether I could beat her.

The pot-shots by Pullen only reinforce what I am thinking right now. It looks desperate. She is all over this district and until I see what you all call a tax increase, I am left wondering what this largest tax increase really is.

Is is a rollback of the tax cuts that undermined the budget at at time that Republicans spent (wasted) more tax dollars than any administration in history or is it a real increase in the tax rates that you are talking about.

Pullen should post the bill, that’d be nice. But he should also post the Presidents budget and explain it to the American people. Especially the last three that had the Iraq war, off the books.
