The other race.

A lot has been written about the election for Chairman of the Arizona Republican Party. There is also a contested race for the position of treasurer. As we understand there are two candidates: Timothy Lee and Horst Kraus. We are not aware of official web sites for their campaigns but they both have web pages for their work. Mr. Lee has a property management firm in Casa Grande. Mr. Kraus has a (notice – the following site contains images of nudity) clothing optional resort north of Phoenix.

Many delegates report having received a mailing from Mr. Lee. We have not heard anything about a mailing from Mr. Kraus.

Sinema wants to criminalize packing.

Kyrsten Sinema has sponsored HB 2286 (scroll down to the bottom of the page,) a bill to criminalize domestic terrorism. Problem is that the language is so broad a rancher driving across his property with a gun in his car could be charged under the bill. He does not need to get out of the vehicle or even confront anyone. The simple act of patrolling with a firearm would become a class 5 felony. The new law would apply if you associate with another individual, such as having some one else in the vehicle.

I guess in Sinema’s world Condoleezza Rice’s father was a domestic terrorist for banding together with fellow blacks to keep from getting attacked by white supremacists.

Prosecutor vows to stand up against Arizona’s “Abracadabra” governor

Dexter Duggan has a great article pointing out the so-called mainstream media’s lack of coverage of Governor Napolitano’s dictatorlike rule of the state, her recent threats against County Attorney Andrew Thomas, and the AHELA scam.

She was easily re-elected last November to a second gubernatorial term after the state’s largest daily paper, The Arizona Republic, became addicted to boosting her image while ignoring or burying unfavorable facts. In the Republic’s hands, the radical feminist was remodeled into a “problem-solving pragmatist.”

Lunch in Tucson II.

Arizona 8th has filed their report of the recent visit to Tucson by Lisa James. Framer has done a good job of covering the event in a fair manner.

Matt Salmon upset over straw poll.

The Arizona Conservative (see FUR FLIES…Jan 18) is reporting that Matt Salmon is upset over the Maricopa County Republican Straw Poll done last week. Salmon is quoted as referring to the poll as a “dirty little trick.” Matt should certainly know what a dirty little trick is. During the recent Republican Primary in CD8 Steve Huffman spent weeks launching scurrilous attacks against at least 2 fellow Republican candidates. But when the DCCC ran ads against Huffman Matt Salmon was quick to record a robo-call on Huffman’s behalf that went out to Republican voters. In the call Salmon mentioned Huffman’s name several times but said nothing about the other candidates running. The call sounded a lot like an endorsement. Nice try Matt but sell sanctimony somewhere else.

As a footnote Lisa James eagerly explained Salmon’s intervention during her recent appearance at the Pima County GOP Headquarters. Her defense of the state chairman meddling in a primary was so enthusiastic it bordered on support for Salmon’s actions.
